I began readıng Crews ın the early 80s. I think I have read all of his books. There was a time when very few of hıs books were ın prınt. I remember payıng $150 dollars for a copy of A Gypsy's Curse to give to a friend as a wedding present. I am glad to see that a younger generation is finding his books, He seldom disappoints, whether in fiction or nonfiction. I do not think such a writer could get published today, unfortunately, And of course the South he wrote about no longer exists.
Thank you... I sometimes have to battle knowing I've had a weirdly constrained life, and I slid off of academia, but I know I've got something to say, so I keep working to learn to say it well. I feel like a jagged person, not an Edison or even a Hemingway, but... I've still got some teeth. It's nice to be reminded that flaw has value.

Yup, it's the grit that makes the pearl. We can't all be the potato in the soup.
Thanks for this post!
"The world wants to take away from you everything that makes you 'you'."
Well, they certainly didn't manage to take his teeth away.
