It is so sweet how one of her strongest phrases (clarity and ease) is I love you. Goes to show how much she says it.

We never know just what others are dealing with 😢 I'm in such awe of both their strength to carry on and also to tell their story...so important and helpful to show us all...keep on loving each other

YAY! I've been waiting for an update on this lovely family and couple. They are doing well, and as a wife with a disability who has an able bodied husband, I appreciate a married couple sharing the honest truth of their experiences, challenges, and successes enjoying life together and building a family as an interabled couple. I am so happy to see them thriving a growing in their relationship and ability to be honest that both the patient and the spouse carer are certainly impacted in some challenging ways as they learn to adapt to a new normal. However, once one radically accepts the new normal (i.e., Jo accepted her career as a doctor was not feasible due to her disability that is a factual reality in her life), the environment can change for both. Great teamwork and compassion, open-mindedness, and learning are demonstrated in a truly caring relationship like theirs. Congrats to them and to Jo!

My mother suffered from aphasia and apraxia
in her last year of life and I was heartbroken - I can’t imagine the toll it takes on a young family 💔

I’m so impressed by the commitment this family has and the love between them. Was this filmed a few years ago or recently?
Connor is so compassionate and smart.
He will no doubt be a kind hearted young man. Wishing all the best to this amazing family.

I remember seeing this story years ago. I had a ruptured brain aneurysm five years ago. Very scary but I had a pretty quick recovery.

Could they use the type of technology that Stephen Hawking used to be able to communicate better, or would that not work in her case?

She's completely capable, have you tried sign language? If I'm not wrong, the brain is right on track, but the brain to mouth is being the stumbling block. Her hands seem active, but I'm not sure as to what level. It's worth a try!!!

Oh, and I am so sorry for not saying this previously. YOU ARE BOTH AMAZING PARTNERS!!!! In sickness and health was not lost on you. I am so sorry for your conditional events, but I am also so inspired by how, in the depths of the reality of that vow, you have risen to the occasion. Day at a time, and as always face the world together. SOOOO much love to you both, and your beautiful family. This is not a challenge anymore, it's an adventure as to how to make your new normal amazing .

Sorry if I'm being a bit much, but you can learn the speech (and be messy while learning the voice) when you communicate with sign language.
