I'm honestly confused. I always thought that Exetior was a protagonist. I thought he just seemed evil because of the methods that he was required to use. I really don't know anymore.

i believe that the chaos huntsr is a fusion between sonic and another exetior, this could explain a few things, such as his desire to destroy this exetior's plan(by sonic's jnfluence) and his ruthless methods to obtain what he needs(by exetior's influence), i believe that in a past trailer it is shown that in the battle against exetior, neither sonic nor him were defeated, in my opinion, since they "finished the race" together, their souls kinda got mixed, i dunno, that's my theory
