This is what I love most about this show. Yes gangs do absolutely horrible things in real life. But one thing media never shows is that there are guys in these gangs who are great guys like Draken and who are smart and work hard like this kid here.
People have many reasons to join gangs or to create one, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Some want to be a part of something, others look up to them because they are strong and wanna be strong as well, a lot of members could be friends with the members so they follow and some just want pure chaos.

The girl at the beginning gives me the vibe that she will eventually be Mitsuya's wife. To further add, this scene can be a foreshadow when Takemitchy and Hayashi are to visit their home. XD
Actually, that girl (her name is Yasuda) is more likely to end up with Peh Yan/Hayashi. Enemies to lovers trope :D Mitsuya is more likely to end up with a girl who shows up next season (she is best girl)
