Geez, 21 songs? No wonder Gav got burned out last year. Still, it's amazing that both quality and quantity continues to go up. I remember hearing All as One, and thinking "there's no way he's going to top this". Then Lady of the Worlds came out. Then Edge of the World, and so on...

I decided to do some math and please correct me if I wrong. You started your channel 6 years ago and produced so far 144 awesome tracks. So generally you are making 24 songs per year, which means that you are making two songs in month. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE! Are you even human? How did you achieve such quality in so little amount of time? Do you even sleep?

Seeing that I did the same with Metal Up last time, let´s go with my personal list for what I feel is the best level yet... shit, now that I think about it, I say that with every new one... errr, here goes!
WARNING- LONG TEXT IS LONG!
Natural Heart
As some might like referring to it, “The New New Black Gold” takes certain inspiration in its older sister, while adding its own unique layer to help it stand on its own. While the 1st had a more personal and powerful undertone of change and possibility, this one revels in how massive and despairing it feels, with the chorus in particular repeating that particular stanza, “This isn’t human anymore”, adding to the hurt.
The Path
The Witcher series got a lot of love out of Gav last year, and The Path essentially grabs that passion for both the world itself and Gav´s previous work and encompasses it in a song that I can only describe as “Iron Maiden meets Poland”. It´s powerful and does justice to the ending of what will surely be one of the best regarded games of the decade.
Get the Gang Back
Happy, upbeat, energetic…this Overwatch-inspired tune has a feeling that completely crushed any industry-produced music I have listened to this year. The chorus itself is something I find myself muttering out of nowhere from time to time to cheer myself up, along with that incessant beat that makes me want to go running and jumping.
The Man Who Rocked the World
I´ll admit to not having listened to Bowie that much before I heard of his death. The reason I´ve gone out of my way to listen to most of his repertoire was this tribute, one that I always recommend to people who haven’t listened to any Miracle of Sound before. Even with that Bowie inspiration, it´s still very much my go-to Gav song for newcomers (Along with Kickback and Amnesia ;P)
Skellige Winds
I could honestly imagine myself singing along to this in a medieval tavern while smashing my drink on a table along with a dozen burly men. The energy behind this tale of Viking pirates in the Witcher universe is one of daring adventure and reckless love of the seas.
Hell to Pay
The undisputed winner in terms of popularity, this Doom song is as metal as it gets out there. Frantic rhythm, sexy guitars and that MINDBLOWING chorus… I kid you not, the first time I heard it I banged my head on the table because I couldn’t believe that I had just listened to it. This song would get flying colours just from the vocal delivery along, but the rest of the song just elevates it to god-like.
Pawns of War
A mix between a military march and Hollywood-representation, this WWI-inspired anthem blew a lot of people out of the water with how refreshing it sounded. It feels like it has room for a couple more sections (perhaps tales of other soldiers to pair to the Irishman´s story), but it´s a solid ode to a century-old conflict as it stands.
Fires Fade
In regards to his Dark Souls-motivated songs, I strongly feel like this one encompasses the experience quite masterfully: It´s somber, yet powerful, with its breaks of pace, moments of self-doubting calm and despair-inducing melody. Sharm´s voice compliments Gav´s extremely well, giving the song an eerily enjoyable duet to feast upon.
Clockworks
"Out of time I go running... as you are running out of time". A very dark, extremely potent song about vengeance and reclaiming a lost throne, this one has a series of outstanding moments that connect into a melody reminiscent to the OST from Sherlock. My favourite is definitely the last build up to the chorus, almost a frantic race through thousands of little cogs and pins... brilliant.
Some Things Never Change
Quite the 180 in regards to his previous Fallout-related song, this is one calm creation basking in the thought of the somber beauty of the skeleton of a post-nuclear world. The vocal delivery is strikingly emotive, definitely a feels-y one for those moments of fear and pain the world is subjected to every day.
Edge of the World
I´d have never imagined Lisa Foiles to have such a distinct and impressive range and power, and it did this Tomb Raider song justice. It has that adrenaline-filled adventure feel that always pumps up for a good fight.
The Lucky Ones
Another stellar vocal delivery by Gav backed up by a Trent Reznor-like beat, all to deliver a very emotional take on a conflict seen from the eyes of a civilian. The chorus in particular pulled my heart strings like no other, reminding me of the reality of war like few songs can.
Mother of Flame
Sharm yet again showcasing that her voice is a treat to hear when paired with Gav´s musical prowess. Song about Daenerys Targaryen of the Game of Thrones series, it encapsulates quite well the different feelings and situations the Mother of Dragons puts up with during her arduous trek. Some very outstanding punctual deliveries by Gavin as well, almost tribal-like.
Jet Fuel Heart
This has to be the most cheerful and happy song I´ve heard my entire life. Every time I hear this one, I can´t help but grin like an idiot and have this long forgotten sensation of child-like wonder grow up in me. Definitely recommend it if you have children, they are going to love it to bits.
Forever Flame
While Fires Fade kept to a more “overarching lore” take on Dark Souls, its sister song goes right for the gameplay, a gothic rock representation to remind us of the unkind and perilous journey we take in-game: Being struck down repeatedly and brought back, all to reach a flicker flame to progress on to the next one, fending off nightmares and petty fools alike.
Kana
The biggest surprise this year, Gav went out of his way to grab as many prehistoric-sounding instruments and compose a song in a made-up language. The delivery is nothing short of breathtaking, a warlike/hunt chant that can get your blood boiling and head insane.
Numbers
Even though it´s hasn’t been as well received as others, I find it fits quite well with its subject matter and lives up to its predecessor, Digital Shadow. That sort of free-flowing, rebellious attitude and joking, easy-going undertone, along with a chorus that almost seems like a rallying call for a revolution… extremely well played.
Ditto
I bet a lot of people will be surprised finding this one, since it didn’t get as much attention as others. I honestly find it frightening… in a good way. The beat and rhythm have this eerie feeling to it that puts me on edge, with the vocal delivery just reinforcing the thought that something is going to go wrong sooner rather than later. True enough, the electronic beats after the choruses are panic-inducing. Not the best, but definitely its own thing that achieves its intended goal.
Here We Go Again
Just like Uncharted, it´s cheeky tone and adventure-filled rhythm are a treat to the ears. The brass at the start seems a little artificial, but the subtle Arabic influences in the middle and the energetic delivery provide a more than adequate package.
Sovngarde Song 2016
A remake from what´s probably one of Gav´s most recognizable song (Aside from a certain guy that can fight better than a Krogan and run faster than a leopard ;) ). The choral voices and updated instruments cause a bit of a disconnect due to how much I heard the original, but the 2nd half more than made up with a much cleaner and powerful delivery. The final nod to Legends of the Frost at the end was a very gratifying change.
Fires Fade (Male)
Maybe done as a response to the criticisms coming when it released, I find this version to be much cleaner than the one Sharm features in. That clean sound, however, makes the lyrics sound less impactful and without that oomph that her voice provided. It´s up to personal tastes, but I find the normal version way better than this one for the actual listening experience.
... VERY long post that took a while. Hope someone finds it somewhat entertaining at the very least.

Fires Fade doesn't get nearly as enough recognition as it deserves. You might find some songs more catchy, badass, or whatever, but the quality of that song in particular is something else.
