Great Vid. Love the history! At the time I was into Comme des garçons and was wearing “Garage” from the Synthetic Series. It came in a plastic tube with a visible black plastic bag inside.
A lot of plastic bottles hit the market then
I really enjoy Dior's Higher, especially during this time of year.
Can you take me higher? To the place where blind men see?
Hey man you are great I appreciate you god bless
Thanks, you too!
Commenting from my palm pilot. You look great in 4 shades of pea soup green btw.
I was shooting for that Nickelodeon splat look
I think I know what you mean. Tommy T and Pleasures For Men could've fit right in there. Perhaps neo-aldehydic citrus fruity musks? And I'm with you on the sillage of Polo Black. It smells significantly better than smelling it up close. Very close to giving my bottle away before I came to my senses. 😆 Stout performers those early bottles.
I find Pleasures for Men more fougère. Beyond Paradise is the ozone-y one, but very artistic
I buy all sorts of fragrances but 2003-2012 is probably the era I collect most. My late college to late 20s years were when I got into fragrance seriously, so this video speaks to me.
As the 80s power gave way to 90s clean and the early 90s were a hybrid, the late 90s clean gave way to 00s sweetness. Those early 00s were a wild mix of white musk and synthetic fruit as you said!
When I first smelled galaxolide raw material I instantly said “oh thats what every Kenneth Cole, Lacoste, Davidoff and Perry Ellis scent from college smelled like!”
While I love that era, I didn’t like most of those scents then and still don’t today. But they did pave the way for things like Dior Homme, Chanel Allure Homme (the best of the Candy ozone IMO), Bulgari Aqua, YSL L’Homme.
Galaxolide is more fun than people give it credit for
@@Varanis_Ridari your video made me fish out my old bottle of Givenchy Red (the 2002 thing) and it’s giving major candy ozone
Lana, you're in the Danger Zone
I was certainly very active in that period, but never used many of those. Can't lock onto what I was wearing then. Probably mostly stuck in 90s stuff. Issye.
If it ain't broke.
In the late nineties early 2k I think all I owned was 212 men obsession and Fahrenheit of and clubman. I wasn’t into collecting at that time. I do wish I knew about Rive Gauche back then I enjoy that one. My wife on the other hand chases me out of the room.
Rive Gauche is gone, but you can still get Derrick by Orlane, which is similar.
@@Varanis_Ridari thanks I will look into it. Have you tried Duas version? “River fouger” it’s a creat inspired expression a bit fuller as they say it’s an extrait. Very nice IMO. Have you explored Pheonix artisan accoutrements like I’ve recommended?
I've smelled only a few Phoenix! Never smelled the Dua RG!
@@Varanis_Ridari pheonix I like Agharta best so far and the dua is generally 30 bucks in sale so a no brainer as far as that goes.
I've tried some Dua, just not that one!
Fierce sounds cool idk if it's redundant to buy cause i already own mb legend
It's inexpensive and available, so why not?
Millennial poverty, yay!
