nothing better than watching people fall in love with this show. singing along to the theme, stan growing on them, conflicting feelings in NWHS, etc.. and finally crying at the end. it’s just so good
Believe it or not, the big reveal at the end was thought up at basically the last minute. Originally it was going to just be a reveal that Journal 1 was behind the vending machine, but then all the fans started guessing that Stan had it, so the crew realized they needed to have some kind of bigger twist.
In the Blind Wave end card they left a coded message “ARKG JRRX: THVQRF GB YVSR NAQ GUR HARKCYNVARQ” When decoded it says, “Next Week: Guides To Life And The Unexplained”
Oooooo that probably means they’re reacting to the Gravity Falls Shorts then. The first third of those are called Dippers guide to the unexplained. Second third are called Mabel’s “guide to”.
@Jonathan Jones when I watched the show for the first time, I immediately knew Soos was the bus driver. Soos said he had to pick up some part time jobs, and conveniently was working at the diner Stan was in. I also noticed that Soos wasn't there to say goodbye to the twins, and they didn't even show the driver at all, so if we connect all these together, it was pretty obvious that Soos is most definitely the bus driver
yoo i thought I've seen and watched and know everything about this from seeing others vids, and I'm just freaking finding it now?! when did Blendin get in there?! yoo I'm shooketh now
SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN: Blendin is actually in a lot of the episodes in the background, I think one of them was in a crowd at the Mystery Shack in one of the episodes
That“Here we go.” then cut to black gives me chills every time i’m so glad you guys are doing the shorts after this. there was an entire year in between the season 1 finale and the season 2 premier, and season 2 took a full two years to air, so the shorts are almost mandatory viewing to get the full Gravity Falls experience. They not only have some of the best moments and jokes in the series, but also give the first season time to breath before things start to really get great.
Dudes, when it said "reverse the ciphers," it meant to take the message and decrypt it using the 3 established ciphers in reverse sequence. To solve 5-19-23-6-21-16 18-9-6 4-16-19 22-12-15-10-20-19-25-19, you must use A1Z26, Atbash, and Ceasar in that exact order
I'm not sure if I am just noticing it more lately, but the amount of super loud screaming from Calvin has been increasing, really sucks when you are wearing headphones. I wish they would edit it to be quieter or not there
I always laugh at how obsessed they are now with the codes and cyphers because that's literally all of us in the fandom tho only few actually have weight and the rest are just for laughs or are easter eggs/references. Yet, the fandom DID NOT let anything just pass by. We had to crack all that shit. lmao
Was so hyped for this reaction, and it did not disappoint. It's genuinely fun watching you guys solve the ciphers and everything. That said, I recommend watch the shorts, as there's more ciphers in there. Also, Aaron was 100% right about reversing the ciphers through numerical, then atbash, then caesar. Doing it that way, 3 becomes C, which then becomes X, which then becomes U. As a hint, the first letter is actually S. I, personally, have an easier way of solving these "combined" ciphers. This might not make much sense at first, but if you add 3 to each number, then count the letters in the alphabet backwards, you'll find your answer. If the number goes over 26, just rollover to 1, 2, and 3. Example, 3 becomes 6, which becomes U. Rollover example, 25 becomes 2, which becomes Y. I just find this overall easier, since it's just basic addition and then saying the alphabet backwards (which I can). From here, I'm glad these are weekly, because I feel you're gonna need a week to process each episode of Season 2. There are no fillers from here on out, and the plot never stops moving. Looking forward to your reactions.
It was confirmed on discord that they will be reacting to the shorts so season 2 will be pushed back 2 weeks to accommodate them. Reactions for Dipper's guide to the unexplained and Mabel's guide to life will come out one week after 1x20, the remaining shorts will be released the following week.

Yeah, +1 to this. The ciphers get *so much harder* in Season 2. There's no way they can just finish watching an ep and then start right in on the cipher, like they've been doing. (Frankly, I looked them all up. But my understanding is that spotting the keywords involves some real hunting and freeze-framing to find them in each ep. It's evil.) At the very least, I hope someone conveys to them that the ciphers take extra work, and it's okay if they don't get them right away. Or, look them up.
@@gryphonvert Fr I think the only cipher in S2 that I solved on my own was 2x10, pretty much everything else was too difficult so huge props to anyone who actually solved them on their own
Gravity Falls laws are weird. All you have to do in order to own land is have the deed in your position. You can probably attribute any legal discrepancies to either Gravity Falls Law or Stan Pines ignoring said law. Oh, if I recall, there's a hidden cypher in this episode in some pipes between the floors. Might be worth checking out. Unless I'm wrong in which case I apologize for wasting your time. (-_-)
Considering that the person who found Gravity Falls (Quentin Trembly III Esq.) probably created most, if not all of its laws, that could be a reason for weird laws as well.
Guys, reverse the ciphers was a hint towards the credits cipher. You had to do the credits in reverse order, going A1B2C3 cipher, then Atbash, then Caesarian. Just so you know if you're decoding it correctly here's the first letter of each word "S - - - - - / F - - / T - - / B - - - - - - - " I'll let you guys figure it out!
I feel like people don't talk enough about how Stan basically got that like, 99% finished? Because he got all 3 journals, and suddenly all he has to do is a few things to the computer, and he gets it to turn on again? (I mean, he didn't get 1 and 2, and then still need another year to figure out how to apply what was in them. Although in the show he does need a few weeks to get everything ready for... yeah.)
actually, when in season 2 ep. 12 when they were showing his past, there was a scene with lots of hard books such as physics and math and whatsoever, so basically it showed -subtly, that Stan literally learned everything from scratch just so he could get that machine at least 98% working but hit a roadblock cuz the other books are missing. He can be pretty smart if he wanted to, but of course, he needs motivation...
Honestly I would LOVE to see livestreams or videos of you guys exploring the physical journal 3 book, it would be so interesting to see you deciphering the abundance of stuff in that book as it is full of puzzles!
This will probably sound hyperbolic to a lot of people, but this is the only show to every give me Lost vibe's with its season finale. When this aired I lost my mind, along with a giant chunk of the internet. And the for a year we just obsessed over everything. It was amazing.
Yeah, I agree and unlike Lost this show actually meanges to give us a satisfying conclusion to it's misteries, and to it's characters. It doesn't drag, it knows that it wants to be and goes out with bang.
For the _full_ experience, you now need to wait an entire _$@#%! _*_year_* for the next episode to air, with only a series of (admittedly awesome and hilarious) shorts to bridge the time and keep the hype alive.
Since y'all have been so dedicated to the end credits ciphers so far, you should know that the end credits ciphers in S2 are a lot more complicated than the ones in S1. You might want to take the answer to an episode after you've seen it and see if you can make sense of the relationship between the code and the answer. . Or, if you'd prefer a hint . . . . . . The S2 end credits ciphers main schtick is a scavenger hunt in the episode. The ciphers use a Vigenère cipher which requires a key to encode and decode. The letters in the key determine the offset distance for each corresponding letter in the message. You might want to find a non-GF-related guide to the Vigenère cipher to get comfortable with how it works, then you can just search the episodes for where the keys are hidden.
There is a code on some pipes in one scene when the pan down to the basement and it says Bill is Watching. And to crack the code y’all were struggling with you have to use a combination of all 3 codes. So i think you first use A1Z26 cipher then atbash and then the Cesar cipher. And another fun fact their is game out which had a cipher
Hi! I think they used the author's symbol substitution cipher for the first time in this episode, but as far as I know you can only undestand it if you have the gravity falls books where they explain it.
Gideon strongly reminds me of the Isaac from Children of The Corn. And both real life and in movie he's a grown man that looks like a child. I think that's what he's based off.
. . . . . . . At the time the show was airing this was one the the most common theory out there, that Gideon was actually older( the same age as Stan, due to being his rival), but somehow was reverted back to a child age.
A reminder Guys, the hiatus to the 2nd season was like a Year, and then the release cadence for season 2 was like 1 every 3-4 MONTHS. It was NAILBITINGLY wrenching having to wait.
Your Gravity Falls reaction is honestly one of the highlights of my week! x) Also I'd recommend either rewatching the episodes for more ciphers or checking the wiki when you're done with the series cause I think you've missed quite few already by now as some of the episodes may contain even 5 ciphers :D Actually I think one of the episodes has 8 ciphers..... That being said, I'm happy to see you guys go so in depth with the codes and trying to find more! ^^
I can't believe that not only has it been almost a decade since Season 1 premiered but also almost 9 years since the Season 1 finale. The finale for Season 1 was quite the game changer, cause not only did Dipper, Mabel and Grunkle Stan not only stopped Gideon from tearing down the Mystery Shack and exposing him as a fraud causing Gideon to be arrested, but finally Grunkle Stan now has all three Mystery journals as he prepares to open the Interdimensional portal. Looking forward to your reactions to Season 2 in 2 weeks time.
Calvin absolutely losing his sh!t at the end was the total mood of everyone who watched this when it aired. Of course they can just hit next and watch season 2 right now. We had to wait a whole year originally
Few days ago I received my edition of Journal 3 and next week I'll get the Lost Legends. Started watching with you, but after I finished 1st season I stopped until I get these books and until you will catch up. Can't wait to see what's coming next
@@austincaldwell4258 Don't worry, I did my research before and I know about the spoilers. I just wanted to have them right after I finish watching the series, because if I had to wait a month after the series finale, I'd lost the hype for these books
pretty sure one of the ciphers is a very complex one. Personally thought this was a huge reveal when i was a kid cause it slipped past me that he could've picked up Journal 2, and i didnt suspect at all that he had #1. Probably cause i didnt see the secret door at the end of ep. 1
Before you get into season 2, I suggest you guys watch all the GF shorts, like "Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained" and "Mabel's Guide to Life". They're funny and even have codes at the end of them.
I'm not gonna say anything, but I have started to compile some of the comments these guys have made so that when they reach *that* episode, I can finally break loose and give more insight into it.
Please catch up with the Gravity Falls shorts, so Dipper's Guide to the Unexplainable, Mabel's Guide to Everything, Fixin' it with Soos and so on. I wanted you to watch it before season 2, but I forgot that you allready have seen the next 4 episodes. Anyway, would be neat^^ Edit: You know what, I'm good. Cool idea with the code btw😸
Y’all gotta react to manifest, such a great show and leaves lots of possibilities for you’s to do polls and have theories, it’d be hella fun, and the final season will be coming out this year so you’ll be able to react to it all!
For the second season, the ciphers are decoded by finding a key word in the background of every episode. You'll know it's the right one because it has a key graphic beside it! it's called a Vigenere cipher. You can look up how it works. There is also a flash of an image half a second after the episode credits of every episode. Put them all together as you go along to uncover a poster and some lore clues
i said it before and many time too and will continue to do so, gravity falls is the best cartoon from the best era of disney channel the seconds one(in my opinion) is phineas and ferb
i hope they watch something like amphibia when this is done- i WISH more people would watch it, and i think its just as good as gravity falls. And very similar in terms of humor, and that the first season “seems” very basic
I agree. If they want to watch more after Gravity Falls than they could hop in to Amphibia. Season 1 may be a bit dull & less "mystery" while binge watching, but it's super important when getting to know the story & characters.

@@bozuteru2160 I'm sure they'll like it. It has Gina Linetti in it.
Honestly I would LOVE to see livestreams or videos of you guys exploring the physical journal 3 book, it would be so interesting to see you deciphering the abundance of stuff in that book as it is full of puzzles!
The end of the reaction was hilarious 🤣
"Wow. Coyotes sound a lot worse than I remember."
"Here we go." - Stan Pines
You guys should see " dipper's guide to the unexplained" too , don't miss it.
there is like 5 things to decipher this episode that are all throughout the episode , there is a code somewhere in the floor board as well
I just now noticed the time traveller walking away from the cop car at 8:44
Man I can't wait for season 2
Now this is when the show truly starts
Spoiler:
Holy cow Rick is actually so close!
Bro don't spoil even like this
@@Beetle0224 ikr
8:20 they weren't expecting that explosion but I was
I absolutely can not wait for the next season reactions. You guys will love it!!
Spoilers
22:45
So yeah, Rick's got it.
..
I do think it'd be interesting if Stan had a twin sister instead but they'd have to change the story a bit
Gideon is 9 years old idk why you guys think he’s so old 😂😂
it's because they think that adult characters have five fingers unlike Dipper and Mabel
Why did they give him five fingers?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
At the time the show was airing this was one the the most common theory out there, that Gideon was actually older( the same age as Stan, due to being his rival), but somehow was reverted back to a child age.
@@roxtechs because it’s the shows style, if characters have thin arms they get 4 fingers, if their arms are thick they get 5
A reminder Guys, the hiatus to the 2nd season was like a Year, and then the release cadence for season 2 was like 1 every 3-4 MONTHS. It was NAILBITINGLY wrenching having to wait.
Your Gravity Falls reaction is honestly one of the highlights of my week! x)
Also I'd recommend either rewatching the episodes for more ciphers or checking the wiki when you're done with the series cause I think you've missed quite few already by now as some of the episodes may contain even 5 ciphers :D Actually I think one of the episodes has 8 ciphers.....
That being said, I'm happy to see you guys go so in depth with the codes and trying to find more! ^^
Hope they're ready for the more complicated ciphers next season lol
I like seeing you guys rage over having to wait to see what comes next. It was painful to wait for the next season lol
I've always absolutely loved the ending of this episode, both the epicness and the music.
God, they're so damn close to so many answers!
Pretty sure the books spoil the show they only released them after the show ended
@@austincaldwell4258 Don't worry, I did my research before and I know about the spoilers. I just wanted to have them right after I finish watching the series, because if I had to wait a month after the series finale, I'd lost the hype for these books
Just so you know, the next cipher is probably the hardest in the show...
Seeing four grown masculine men sitting at a table trying to decode a kids show is an amazing sight
"Be a Manotaur."
Chutzpar: Hey!
may i advise that you guys watch the final 3 episode of the series together.
its a 3 parter and its something you will want to watch in one sitting.
i cant wait for them to decipher the codes in season 2 lmao
Great reaction! What a season finale!
Soon they will reach my favorite episode!
Did anyone see Blendin Blandin at 8:43 just walking away from the police car as Stan hits it?
pretty sure one of the ciphers is a very complex one. Personally thought this was a huge reveal when i was a kid cause it slipped past me that he could've picked up Journal 2, and i didnt suspect at all that he had #1. Probably cause i didnt see the secret door at the end of ep. 1
After a few months. Finally they have watched half of it all
I can see how y'all might think Gideon is older but he's only 9 years old 😂
Before you get into season 2, I suggest you guys watch all the GF shorts, like "Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained" and "Mabel's Guide to Life". They're funny and even have codes at the end of them.
YA! Season 2 is here. Im sooo exicted to watch yalls reaction.
22:40 that theory lol
After Gravity Falls, y'all should check out either Infinity Train or the criminally underrated Final Space
Yeahhhy
Final Space
YEAH, Infinity Train is also a Godlike cartoon.
no
Over the Garden Wall
8:43
HEY Blendin Blanden was there too! You can see him behind the cop car.
Hey, at least you don’t have to wait for months at a time between episodes.
Oh was I cackling like mad by the end of this.
I can't wait for them to solve the mystery lol and it'd be fun to see Eric and Arron react to Smallville
It’s a good finale to the first season. I personally love the second season and you fellas will definitely enjoy what will be coming soon.
really hope they checked out the shorts before going into s2. it's not a massive deal but there are two that s2 briefly references.
apparently they’re going to watch the shorts next instead of s2!
The entire season I've been waiting for these last few episodes.
I'm not gonna say anything, but I have started to compile some of the comments these guys have made so that when they reach *that* episode, I can finally break loose and give more insight into it.
Iirc Quentin Trembley established a lot of weird laws, including "who finds it shall keep it" even regarding property
LET. US. GOOOOOO!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!
I THINK I SPEAK FOR EVERYONE THAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS EPISODE SINCE LAST WEEK.
You guys are in for a hell of a season
finally! i waited so much for this episode!!
Anyway, would be neat^^
Edit: You know what, I'm good.
Cant wait for the rest
You guys have no idea how hard it was waiting for the next season 🤣
now it is more obvious with the mystery withi the next season but theres actually been alot of subtle things that youve missed
i said it before and many time too and will continue to do so, gravity falls is the best cartoon from the best era of disney channel the seconds one(in my opinion) is phineas and ferb
That is something I agree with.
You guys just threw out the idea that Stan had a twin and were spot on! You had a few things off but I never guessed that Ford could exist.
i hope they watch something like amphibia when this is done- i WISH more people would watch it, and i think its just as good as gravity falls. And very similar in terms of humor, and that the first season “seems” very basic
That show or Ducktales 2016
@@roxtechs ducktales is good-! wish it wasn’t cancelled tho-
Agreed another fantastic show
Same. It bothers me that more people like Owl house (not that it’s bad, I just think it’s overrated).
I agree. If they want to watch more after Gravity Falls than they could hop in to Amphibia. Season 1 may be a bit dull & less "mystery" while binge watching, but it's super important when getting to know the story & characters.
