I also sold my truck camper for an Outback. In order to compensate for the lack of bug free indoor space I purchased a Clam (small 6'x6') screen house that pops up. It's a nice addition and fits easily in the rooftop box. Just an idea for you.
Hey-just a hello, you inspired me on my x-country trip, with my pupper, to car camp -kinda boondock-in my Outback! Glad I came across your videos for motivation!! I had a 4” foam pad that luckily fit perfectly just to try the concept. Googled “Can I sleep in my Subaru” and found you. We slept two nights in the car, sooo cozy. On trip home, I want to be able to boil water to make coffee. Cheers
21 liter iceco fridge with cover has been a game changer in my outback camper. It’s energy efficient and worked well in an outback. Yakima awning fits right on top with the Yakima carrier for an extra room. It’s been up in crazy winds and has been a champ. I had to change out my raised platform for a low platform with just room for a pullout table under. My kitchen and food storage is in a target 3 drawer storage bin fits right back the back hatch and holds everything I need. My Irish setter and myself needed the headroom and now the back has plenty of sleeping room for both of us. Happy travels to you and Tara❤
I have a question, and my question is do you still keep in touch with Maddie Taylor who happens to be living at her new place in Germany? let me know if you’re planning in visiting her and can you do a video on that 🙂
Your first attempt at off-grid car camping is truly inspiring! Your courage to venture into the wilderness and embrace self-sufficiency reflects your adventurous spirit. Your journey showcases resilience and determination. And I am Floating Village Life, celebrating your outdoor exploration.
Get a Thermacell. They really work. I got the backpacker model that runs on the standard backpacker butane cartridges. I took a pretty much empty one and it worked for quite a while as it uses so little butane.
I'm sure! Since I wasn't carrying any recovery gear though, and just have stock 'city' tires right now, I thought it would be good to be cautious :) very soon though!
Hi! I'm new and I found you because I just purchased an Outback this spring and we have outfitted it for camping. The Sky box and a Yakima awning have made it my dream camper ;) We also have screens for our windows and moonroof! Our first few voyages have been successful and I'm glad yours was too! It's all trial and error, right? Looking forward to following along!
I put the Yak Skybox 16 (best secure storage ever) on my Jeep Grand Cherokee too, also the Skinny Warrior Basket. We just came off a 2 week test run and love the setup. Instead of a full platform, I got a half platform and then a kitchen box with a pullout drawer. I added legs to the box so a bin could fit under it and it's now at just the right height for the dog to sleep on. In back of the box I put my car fridge (hate using ice) and power it with a Bluetti AC200max charged by a skinny 100watt solar panel mounted to the Skybox. Only problem I have now is I can't really carry a kayak. You're getting it dialed in pretty good. I love Colorado and can't wait to get back sometime.
Hello Alex and Terra ,I think your awesome, you think outside the box .I love Subarus great for off roading so you can get to those wild places they are so reliable and last forever ,thats going to be my future car fingers crossed .How old is Terra now she is such a beautiful companion .Congrats on 40k subs well deserved 👏bring on 50k👍💞Sending love and Prays🙏to you both Stay Safe 💓From Me V Australia
We have a Subaru Forester and tent camp with it. We are considering upgrading to a van or small class C. I'm wondering how you manage so often breaking down and setting up. It is more difficult in a car, I think. Also, not knowing where you are going to sleep night to night. We are wondering if we should be doing the upgrade. Something that helps us now when weather is bad is having a pop up outdoor room. We have a gazelle. If the weather is bad we can pop that up in just a minute or so and then have a space outside the car that is bug free and ok in the rain.
Honing in on a great setup. I have had a skoolie, a tiny Ford Transit Connect, and now have a Subaru Ascent that I am learning to camp in. They all have their pros and cons but I am having a blast right now.
Nice 40k subscribers. Good realistic car camping experience. You live outside, so you may need a screen room. Look forward to more car camping adventures.
great video, very informative. I live in Colorado and I have a Subaru , lol, so you definitely are giving me ideas! Thanks for sharing, have an awesome week!
hi! we are just going back to the vet for a recheck this week, which should give us more information about her status. re: her happiness - she is the sweetest most cuddly girl these days, and I think som stability for now has been really good for her
I believe you could have just filmed driving down the road . That place is gorgeous . Do you ever sleep with the hatch up ? It's good to see the difference between car camping and your big rig .. ❤❤
Consider a car door jamb foot step for more convenient roof box access: TOOENJOY Universal Fit Car Door Step, Foldable Roof Rack Door Step Up on Door Latch, Both Feet Stand Pedal Ladder, Easy Access to Rooftop for Most Car, SUV, Truck, Max Load 400 lbs
Have you used anything to keep the mosquitoes away? If so, what did you use? I checked out your website and didn't see anything listed. Also, I saw Jackery listed.

We got one too. Love ours!
I have thought a lot about getting one. Can you set it up by yourself?
@theicangram its possible easier with 2 (even if ones my wife who isn't very good at this type of stuff
@@theicangram I did it by myself.

CONGRATULATIONS on achieving 40K subscribers!!
Well done, indeed!
We have the same hammock :) Watched this while sitting in mine, hiding from mosquitos haha
Nice way to be in the wilderness😊😊
There's a tent/tarp with "mosquito net" all over it you can purchase so you sit out and bugs will not bother you. Hopefully. I saw a guy with that.
Nomad camping.😊
To mitigate the bugs, rain and light wind consider a "tail veil" type car camp tent.
I have a question, and my question is do you still keep in touch with Maddie Taylor who happens to be living at her new place in Germany? let me know if you’re planning in visiting her and can you do a video on that 🙂
Get a thermocell!!! It’ll keep the bugs away!
Took my pup backpacking near Tahoe this weekend and the mosquitos were awful there too! Terra is so sweet, I hope she's doing better/ok.

I've been eyeing the thermacell mosquito repellent. Good to see an unbiased review.
@simply.leen. the bugs drives my wife crazy so I know they work! Lots of models to chose from these days.
Love seeing you and Terra back out in the woods. 😊
we are SO happy to be back out here, thank you Eileen!
Nico,😍😚😘🥰
I’m in love 😍
I have an Outback and my Goldie son Chester- this is inspiring ! Thank you :) Congrats on 40K!!!!!!!
Alexandria, I heard burning coffee grounds ( they smolder) keeps the bugs away.
Great video, next time maybe we can see footage of the thunderstorms!
Your Subaru would have went through that flooded road I’m sure with no problems 😊😊😊😊 there a good off road vehicle 🚗!!!!
I'm sure! Since I wasn't carrying any recovery gear though, and just have stock 'city' tires right now, I thought it would be good to be cautious :) very soon though!
Good job adjusting to the changes!
Hi Tara ❤ Even with all the different camps you look great and found a little humor use bug candles or oils ❤🐾

I miss my Honda Element it got too old and unfortunately they discontinued making them.

When camping with my family we would bring a bug shelter. Screen all all around and it popped up easy.

I have the same car and color ❤
Wow

Would you consider getting some of pop up screen house/pop up tent like The Clam? I think it would be important if you smaller rig.

Hi, how is Terra doing since her last health issues?

I bought a coleman 10x10 pop up screen house, it comes in a bag and only takes a min yo setup and take down....it would be perfect for you guys!
Thank you for all those product recommendations!!
Where did the truck and camper go
Morning in Hawaii did good on off grid camping keep you busy
Thank you for the “camping” content! Your insight and explanations are very interesting. Keep it up!!😊
Congrats on hitting 40k!! (IMHO you should have 100k followers!)
thank you so much! hopefully one day :)
It would be useful to know what minimal good survival things one should pack for a vehicle on the road
I like the bluetti😊
Looks like such a great area! Happy Travels!!
It's one of our favorite regions in the state!
I love my bluetti😊

I believe you could have just filmed driving down the road . That place is gorgeous . Do you ever sleep with the hatch up ? It's good to see the difference between car camping and your big rig .. ❤❤

will you ever go back to having a rig like you had before
Hi you two! ❤😊
Hello Alex and Terra. Great video as always. Awesome shot of Terra in the back of the car at the end of the video. Stay safe.
Great job Alex 💯💔💯
This is a silly question. What kind of sandals are those you always wear?
they are called bedrock sandals! I absolutely LOVE them :)
13:54 What the name brand of that water despenser you have? Does ot filter to?
It's by Dometic. I got one but got my faucet pump from Amazon for a lot less than the Dometkc one (it's about $15).
It's doesn't have a filter system built in.
Good video!
maybe carry more water so that's one less thing you don't have to hunt a down.
Awesome video
You look very strong 🤪
❤
It great you got 40k 💔💯🎊🎂😇
First time alone all right. Maybe you’ll start being transparent and honest about your content
