I believe you may have the Aberg replica first built by my friend Terry Davenport of Vitor MT in 1978. I raced motocross in Montana from 1977 to 1981 and Terry's HL 500 Yamaha was the only one I knew of in the state. I have photos of the original build if you are interested, (not very good photos however).
Would be interesting to see the photos and know the history. Can’t say for sure if this is the bike, but it did come from Montana. Bought it from a gentleman that said it used to belong to his uncle. Maybe when things slow down, a phone call be in order. Claude
@@cblyx6 I've gone back and looked at the photos. I never got a proper close up portrait of the bike but I have some shots of Terry racing the bike taken with a cheap Kodak Instamatic camera. They don't show the bike very well. I will put them on the web and then put the link to them here. I am convinced that you have the bike that my friend Terry built and he probably sold it to the Uncle of the guy you bought it from. I'm glad the bike found a good home.
That thing is Sweeeeeet.. nice work. those front ends are excellent. A lot of woods guys considered them the holy grail. For an old twin shocker, they're pretty much better than a works fork :-) I almost kept mine from my 98 250. I swapped them with my 05 rmz 450 but then got rid of both bikes. I also saw a guy that used one on a chopper he built, using a sportster frame with a tl1000 motor. it was perfect. Another great front end was the 87 honda CR goods i just got late model forks for my kx500 so the original anodized blue ones are available.\ I had a couple ideas with a kz400 twin bobber and an old apocalypse ready interceptor, but they are gone too now.
hey i just started to tune an 79 xt500 i got for free for some certain reason (xD) i want it really high and giant. im riding 250cc 2 stroke. and i want it at the same power range.... btw, mean bike dude, and your vid inspired and helped me a lot!
I read in a forum somewhere about that engine/ builder, ,,,,definitely a rare bird,,,, with that being said, what are you planning on doing with the bike / engine combination? I have a 540 kit in my bike and another complete built motor on the shelf and now wish I just had the stock motor back,,,, I myself don't ride the bike near to the potential that is has,,, thus the stock motor being easier to start and maintain,,, which leads me back to the question I just asked,,, what are you going to
Yes they are, but for some reason I prefer old idk it's like they have got the bikes so good now there is hardly any room for improvement, which is great but for a lot of us that's half the fun
Awesome bike. I like the combination of old and new all gathered around that huge engine.

I WANT 1 !!!! Wow you are a lucky man.
Really nice bike! Good job on the drum brake mated to a disk fork too. I have a 250 I would like to do something similar to. Cheers for the vid!

great looking bike.. Looks better than the modern bikes out..
Twin chamber forks and Ohlins shocks. I'd ride it like I was mad at it.
Fantastic build!
Seems to have the exact same gas tank my 1976 Yamaha 125-MX-C had ..
that is sooooooo nice,
🏴☠️
Badass luv it !!
Beauty build. That RM front end really went on that easy? I'm working on an XT500 and after seeing this I gotta have this front end on mine! .
Rick™ just realized this profab probably has a different steering tube :(
