Magnus politely refusing the offer of Judit was a class act, such a gentleman. Refusing to avenge his ego made his a better man. Judit offering Magnus another chance knowing she could lose is another class act. It was an honorable action from her instead of just running away and claim, I beat Magnus. Both are great examples of humility in action.
Could he lose? She would have lost without a doubt. He would have lost as surely as death is certain. And it is precisely this that makes both gestures noble, Polgar's proposal and Carlssen's refusal.
Judit has been retired from professional chess for a number of years now and this was a simple “friendly” and yeah she won the game but let’s not overblow this and act like this was _real_ match play again not hating great she won but let’s not lose perspective here.
I love how Mr Laszlo Polgar (Judit's father - old man in the hat in the first line) finds a winning combination in the blink of an eye. As soon as Magnus blunders with Rc8 he shakes his head.... Impressive in his age (75+)!
I'm astonished at how genial both Judit and Magnus were during this game. Here's a guy that could be refusing to play these types of social games, because he has everything to lose in terms of his reputation, but he's so cool. As a guy, so little ego (of course he has some :)) but just amazing how abashed, humble, and cool he was in laughing about his loss. Wow, just an amazing guy, and Judit, also, so nice to him :). Congrats on an incredible accomplishment!
I don't know Carlson or Polgar, I saw respect and congenial attitude from both sides. Game was fun to watch. I couldn't keep up with the initial moves. Makes me humble. I absolutely LOVE that a game like this is going to go down as one to remember, especially since it was just a casual 'friendly' instead of an official tournament match. This is awesome.
AMAZING GAME. I don’t understand why we male players have a difficult time accepting Judit Polgar’s tactics and playing style: she’s been always more aggressive than Carlsen or Anish Giri or many other top 10 world players for that matter. Of course she sees these moves quicker than them, because she’s been like that all her life. Let’s just appreciate this moment and her genius!! She has inspired millions of women players and men players, but I feel sometimes bias doesn’t let some men cherish and admire her playing style. All my admiration goes to her!

@@aesaphyr Judit is not even top 70 at her current rating. It shouldn't be even controversial to suggest she wouldn't fare well at the top level. Again you are using comparisons like Vishy and Anand who were ex world champions and #1 rated. Judit never was.
When did I say she was terrible now? You are simply imagining made up things and inferring some sort of negative agenda and attitude so that you can argue against it. Pointless.
Magnus' "OMG" while Judit hides her face a bit embarrassed of how she has just dropped that bomb of a move on Magnus, makes me smile. This just speaks about the huge respect these two legends have for each other. Magnus took it like a champ! A true gentleman.
To me the best attacking chess player would be Tal, but when I saw the game of Miss Judith Polgar and Nigel Short. She's a hell of an attacking player.
her game vs shirov too....
@@b-eezy2727 Shirov himself was an awesome attacker
and - going back to the Tal era - i recommend Nezhmetdinov's games too
i know this style isn't fully correct, and it's very hard to use it in the times of chess engines
but i really do hope we'll live to see the aggressive style win the world championship for a change
She’s a better attacking player and more entertaining than many top 20 chess players nowadays.
anish's reaction is so good 😂 immediately taking a picture lol... savage
He really was savage
Forget about nepo and the candidates, I want Carlsen vs Polgar for the next WCC
Nothing against Judith, she's world-class and the best female chess player of all time, but she will be crushed by Magnus in a classical format
@@saadheisenberg8183 So where is the difference to Nepo?
;)
@@saadheisenberg8183 as of the release of this video, Judit has a positive record against carlsen, worthy opponent for him
@@TheSeppe
She is retired sir!!
I think in her prime she would crush Nepo
A retired candidate vs a seemingly burnt out champion?
I hope chess24 gets judit commentating even more events. She’s both incredibly instructive and fun to listen to. Her candidates coverage has been amazing.
I totally agree.
Many comment asking what happen, 2:38
-So basically white queen and rock can checkmate one move with QueenxD7.
-It cant be done because the black queen protect it..
-So that move Bishop B6 threatening black Queen is death sentence for the Queen (its unexpected move for magnus thats why both gm surprised)
-If Queen move anywhere not protect pawn D7, it's check mate (for example taking white bishop B6 with black queen, its check mate queenxD7
-Also queen cant evade from white bishop no matter where she move while protect the pawn D7
Thank you very much for the explanation.
@@aouerfelli
You're welcome..
So he just loses the Queen. Sucks, but not the end of the game.
She has now beaten 5 world champions - Karpov, Kasparov, Anand, Kramnik and now Magnus 👏👏👏👏
Judit has been retired from professional chess for a number of years now and this was a simple “friendly” and yeah she won the game but let’s not overblow this and act like this was _real_ match play again not hating great she won but let’s not lose perspective here.
She has already beaten Magnus in an official game when she was active as a chess player.
During her career she defeated 11 current or former world champions in rapid or classical chess.
She's the commentator right? She must be lucky to be this good
This is a joke, right?
I love how Mr Laszlo Polgar (Judit's father - old man in the hat in the first line) finds a winning combination in the blink of an eye. As soon as Magnus blunders with Rc8 he shakes his head.... Impressive in his age (75+)!
What? He didn't find anything
@@SilencedButNotForgotten bro just makin shit up
@@EricSylla hes actually correct if you look again
@@EricSylla Half the gentleman is covered by the overscreen board, even then, you'll be able to see him shaking his head profusely. Cheers.
Hahaha! You guys... He's shaking his head because of the annoying fly buzzing around his head! Look again!
You can see Judit's father violently shake his head at Rc8, right before her crushing move. He saw it too :0
"rematch?" "no better for the story if it ends like this" awesome!
The ego is earned tho🥸
I don't know Carlson or Polgar, I saw respect and congenial attitude from both sides. Game was fun to watch. I couldn't keep up with the initial moves. Makes me humble.
P.S., I researched @pf4773's use of "genial." Absolutely appropriate for this game when you consider use of the word to describe genius.
at 2:20 you can here the glee when you play Bb4 "and now..." What fun it is to hear you giggle when you find tactics. Thanks for providing your side of it, Judit!
Awesome video. The gentleman with the sun hat (next to Anish Giri) is actually Judit's father, Laszlo Polgar!
I read his book : Bring Up Genius !
2:34 i just loved how Magnus turned to anish soo fast
I loved that too.
I loved this unique commentary style from Judith and those cartoon-like graphical exclamation! Judith well done!!
That was super fun. And it is good to see how these super GMs' miss simple tactics too. The Polgars were always a huge inspiration.
They were and they are. The Queen Gambit is more inspired in Judit than in Fischer
Judith basically sealed the deal after Rg1
but at 1:45 look how fast he plays knight back to h6 after seeing all three losing lines which look like good moves.
then he protects with Bf8 because he realized he will lose badly if he castles.
playing Magnus is just insane.
you don't have to be super gm to see 0-0?? Qxh6
Playing Judit is insane
3:23 lmao love chess banter! :D
Judit: "Finally he has a good Knight!" :D
Magnus: "Finally my Knight is OK" >.<
Anish: "Hahaha the position is beautiful, except the Queen is missing!" :D :D :D
She's so great. Always proud of her
stunned by her brilliance, it goes to show that the other super gms never saw the tactic til the moment she she played it. judit and magnus are gods of chess, with bonus anish roasting magnus, legendary clip
Judit is one of my favorite chess players for sure. She refuses to just be “good *for a woman* “ and competed in open tournaments against the strongest male players in the world. She definitely shows that chess skill is about dedication and understanding, not gender or sex.
Magnus and Judit both respect each other. It's really refreshing to see
I absolutely LOVE that a game like this is going to go down as one to remember, especially since it was just a casual 'friendly' instead of an official tournament match. This is awesome.
Judit is such an immense player, no matter how rusty! Pure respect.
Magnus's greatness is shown purely by how HUGE of a deal it is that he loses a single rapid game
Whats with all the men and women talk? Two chess players are playing chess keep politics out of it your ruining the game
Being hyper aggressive stops working when youre that high level. There is a reason why magnus became less and less aggressive as he got better
@@ststudios12345 you clearly know nothing about chess. If you aren't agressive enough your peak will be FM or IM max.
@@properp6922 everything is explained in the comment that you replied to
@@zerere_ Magnus himself is the one who said he stopped being so aggressive because he was getting punished against strong GMs lmao. Maybe you think youre better than magnus lul
I think Anish missed it too at first. This just shows how complicated chess can be. Even Super GMs aren't able to spot tactics like this in a blitz game if they don't play similar positions that often.
No... Every player above 1600 should see it in 5-10 seconds in a competitive game. They missed it only because it was a friendly game, and they were just having fun.
What was impressive in Judit's play was the way she was able to make such a powerful attack, reallying only on instincts without thinking. The move itself was relatively simple.
Obviously bro...there are millions and billions of moves that can be played. That's why chess can never be solved by anyone.
Also they're playing for the content so yeah its a win win for audience if not Magnus.
@@ori5021
Exactly, if that was a puzzle, it would be maybe 1700, 1800 difficulty at the most. The reaction was because the WC missed a very basic deflection tactic, not because it was an amazing move that most people wouldn’t find.
@@TheBenevolentDictatorship so what's wrong? i mean if it is a very basic tactic they should have seen it coming
@@user-nr2cg8hh5u Judith even says it in the video "even the biggest guys can blunder" it's a huge mistake on Carlsen's end for missing it so yes he should have seen it coming.
What a fantastic video. Love the soft commentary over the clearly displaced chess board with eval bar above the actual chess board and the cartoon edits add a nice touch. Amazing video.
"Makes a better story." ~ Magnus. Thanks to both of you for making it entertaining.
I love how you are able to spot even little mistakes and pounce on them. You're one of my favourite players for having that attacking style that punishes mistakes.
Amazing moment! This game will be remembered a long time ⭐️
Its amazing to see it from this angle. from the other side, you couldnt see that Magnus looks immediately at Anish after the move is played.
Judit is an absolute badass.
Love to see Judit plays chess.... so brilliant and cool.
maaaaaaaaan what a great video bro...
2:33 🤣🤣Giri even taking a picture 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
and everyone laughing and having a good time.... even losing magnus is having a great time and having fun that's the spirit.... also we have the legend Judit Polgar great video man
I love how Anish immediately gets the position 🤣
bro its so funny to look through the people watching and casually finding anish looking like a spanish tourist
Both players took it with class.
Always liked Judit, and even though they were just having fun, this shows she still has it.
Good job Judit. A #1 beating a #1 is not something we see every day.
"It might be better for the story if it's like this"
Magnus is the best.
Judit is a genius. What a brilliant video
I love your comment, acknowledging Judit’s talent
Anish taking a picture to put it on chess reddit is hilarious.
Where the hell is this Park? How is there 3 top GM players just hanging out?
Judit: plays the killer move
Magnus and Anish "OHHH WOOOWWWWW"
The entire crowd: ...huh?
Judit was one of the best attacking players of her era and it shows. 😎
I back this up. This is why Anish Giri nor Magnus saw the threat
I watched a documentary called Judit Polgar 40, and in that movie one of her trainers said that she worked on chess 8 hours a day as a kid. No holidays off. Crazy
Loved to watch this game, and the talking about the game. What would it be amazing if Judit would start to play even some blitz tournaments. Still she is one if my favorite players!!!
Judith has soothing voice. perfect for narrating a movie or documentary.
Great game Judit! So lovely how you laugh and smile while defeating Magnus.
You know it's a historical moment when even Giri is taking pics!
Judit Polgar was the #1 rated Woman's chess player for TWENTY FIVE straight years. She was so good that she even was once in the Top 10 players in the world including men. I don't care if it's chess, tennis, golf, archery, or horseshoes, to be the undisputed best in your gender class at ANYTHING for a quarter of a century is so off the charts amazing that it's really a shame that more in the general public don't know about Judit and her sisters. They also happen to be the nicest and friendliest people you'd ever want to meet.
As someone who does not play chess how does it make sense to distinguish gender in chess lol? Like wtf? Does it officially mean that men are more intelligent than women besides being obviously stronger? Like what is going on that they differentiate in chess
There aren’t “gender classes”. All high level tournaments are open to anyone strong enough to compete.
The banter in this game made it even better.
Also I didn't realize Anish was there the entire time from the other videos uploaded.
Today's chess players still learn from Judit, including the world champ!
These guys immediatly laughed , it took me at least 15 secondes to understand the situation.
Beautiful! Well done Judit.
You've still got it!
Anish: omg, Magnus: omg, Judith: omg. Crowd: 🤷♂️
That was just beautiful all round and even Magnus treated that with the same amount of respect as did Ali held back punching George Foreman on the way down.
WONDERFUL. Judi is just amazing. Magnus a true gentleman
There Magnus proves his greatness not only as a gentleman but as the best player in the world who did not want to take from this marvelous victory from Judit
Only a superstar would hold Judit up like Magnus just did
Magnus didn't even use 0.1% of his mind there... He was just casually playing.
If we don't know Anish, he seems like an ordinary budding chess nerd that frequent the park.
This guy gave Judith a great fight. I bet he has a great future in chess ahead of him
Congratulations, the great Judit. How many hairstyles does Magnus have? Is this a world record? Anish immediately understood the move. Standing in a park, he was intently watching. We should have such chess tables everywhere.
2:25 Magnus: "No castle!" :D mehehe I'm so cool
2:32 Magnus: "OMG!"
3:09 Magnus: "I focking should've castled!"
lmao great game Judit!
Amazing. Love to watch this. Great use of commentary and board. Simply lovely
Thanks!
Anish in the background as a fan 😅😂
This video has the potential to be one of the most viewed chess videos ever.
Its legitimately criminal that queens gambit wasn't based on her. Judit the goat
She is truly the GOAT
I believe it was based on a combination of Bobby Fischer and her
Who cares about that crappy Queen Gambit's miniseries?
@@ArranVid The whole chess world cares. All of the big chess players raved over how well it was done and it brought a lot of attention, new players, and money into the chess scene.
