Been thinking about getting married so I have been researching diamonds and stumbled on your channel. You're very knowledgeable and honest, and your production is underrated. I'm going to buy the diamond loose and then find a setting for it.
I'm currently thinking about making the ring myself with the help of a private jewelry store/shop. They offered me an apprenticeship based on how impressed they were about a sterling silver ring I made my girlfriend for our anniversary. Only thing I'm worried about is the longevity of the ring vs having it made for me.

Gold is predicable, every several years you should redip and polish to keep luster. Doesn't matter who makes it, the finest custom store in the world or the mom-and-pop store, gold needs upkeep. I think you are safe with either choice you make.

I bought early December on blue Nile. Now prices are 100s higher on the same diamonds. Watch out.
You should do a video about wether or not you should purchase a “hearts and arrows” diamond or “Astor” if it’s from Blue Nile compared to a really excellent cut quality diamond at a cheaper price... I love the hearts and arrows but I wonder if you can get something close to it for a better value 🤔

What are your thoughts on xxx Gia eye clear diamonds with cloud clarity characteristics from blue Nile? Does cloud really affect fire & sparkle?
Thanks for the comments. In the majority of cases its a non issue. If you have Vs2 SI1 a cloud comment will not affect brilliance. Once you get to SI2 I1 clarity, its possible. It is situational as cloud sizes vary. You may have an SI2 clarity but the cloud is vs1 level. Clarity is based on the largest inclusions not the amount of inclusions per say. there can be a large crystal and a microscopic cloud. in other words, i wouldn't look too deep into it.

The best answer is when you're ready. I can always find a deal. I suppose the heavy months like dec nov, more stones are being moved so inventory will be higher. But good stones get picked up fast. SO you must decide quickly due to buying volume.

Yo Dylan. I dont have a great answer for you. not that much inventory out there so depends on the style you like and who has it. James allen and blue nile have more common rings that can work for pinky rings.

Can you provide any tips on Emerald diamonds? I've been looking around on James Allen & Blue Nile and I notice that some from the part that is on the top of the ring shows "black" rings. Is this good or bad? I'd assume bad and you'd want it to be as "crystal clear" as possible.
