It's a very solid 8.5/10 song. People complain it sounds too YG, but that's what makes YG stand out. YG are the only company that go for a hip hop vibe with their groups, which brings a much needed balance in kpop, especially for girl groups.

honestly i had been supporting babymonster since pre debut and their debut song i genuinely rlly rlly enjoyed, seems many didnt enjoy it tho bc they have no taste and keep comparing them to other groups without actually enjoying it but i loved batter up sm, babymonster have all the dna from the yg groups and this proves it

I have been waiting for yr reactions for hours !! Lol. Thank you for reacting BM and made such a fair comment on their debut song. Yes, Batter Up, the song structure, arrangement and format are sooo YG. You might say it's predictable, or in other word, YG play it in a safe mode. But i still love it ! The song is solid, intense and catchy.
But K-netizens might not like it for several reasons. If the young generation understand YG history, they should, or we should, show more respect to them if one company keep their genre of music since the beginning. Well, it's just hard to please everybody.
Likewise, i agree you dont see much rap style like Ruka and ASA nowadays. They are the treasure in the group.
