And that's a surprise... I was expecting Blackpink but you reacted to BABYMONSTER. Well there are actually 7 members, their "supposedly" leader Ahyeon is missing 2 singles (Batter Up and Stuck in the middle) because of her health. She recovered now and is recording for their mini album which will release on April 1st (They are also re-recording both singles with all 7 members)
Also, blackpink members evaluated/Mentored babymonster for their monthly evaluation performances. So no "competition" in two groups.

As YG himself was very attracted towards "Hip-Hop" and R&B as an idol, he produced some of the MOST influential groups in k-pop history with the same concept and as hip hop originated in English speaking countries, the name of groups are also "English"
The story you read was about the Leader of YG entertainment's very early group "1TYM" his name is "Teddy" (was active in early 2000) He was born in Korea before moving out to America (NYC and then California) with his family. He and his friend (and band-mate) were discovered by YG producer so they both auditioned for YG and debuted in 1TYM. After 1TYM disbanded, he work as a producer alongside G-DRAGON (THE most influential k-pop idol and a leader of THE most influential group in k-pop i.e BIGBANG, he's called as "Idol of Idols" because many, in fact it won't be wrong to say ALL the idols who are popular now, including BTS wanted to be like him... They saw him as their IDOL. GD and BIGBANG started shaping k-pop to what we have now, before them k-pop idols were looked down on, people called them "manufactured entertainers" and not Artists.. GD and BIGBANG did so many "1sts" in k-pop like having lightsticks, producing & writing their own music, giving their fandom a name, doing their own variety show, touring outside ASIA, colouring their hairs before every comeback, releasing "solo" work which still being part of the group and list goes on and on and on... hence even BTS members say that imagining k-pop what it is today is impossible without BIGBABG) After that Teddy became a prominent producer in YG ent. Before becoming Executive Producer of "Blackpink" and establishing his own agency under YG ent called "TheBlackLable".
It took me so much time to write this I hope you'll read it. This is my knowledge after following YG and k-pop since 2008 I hope this helps.
Teddy grew up in the USA. While growing up in SoCal, he and his friend got into hip hop music. A YGE producer heard them while visiting California and had them audition for YGE. Teddy and his friend moved to Korea after being recruited by YGE and they never moved back to the USA.
Teddy and his friend, then debuted in the boy group, 1TYM. Teddy created most of the music for 1TYM. After their 5th album, the Korean citizen members of 1TYM went on hiatus for their mandatory military service. During this hiatus period, Teddy transitioned into becoming a full time producer at YGE, Teddy was 22 at this time.
Once Teddy became a full time producer, he started his habit of avoiding public attention and started to wear a mask while in public and while being filmed. Teddy made most of the music for 2NE1 and some of the music for BigBang, this lead to him being in charge of all of the music for Blackpink.
In order to keep Teddy, YG created a subsidiary company of YGE called TheBlackLabel, which Teddy was the CEO and Creative Director of. As a subsidiary company, YGE still had control and oversight over Teddy and TheBlackLabel.
In 2022, Teddy obtained control over TheBlackLabel and it became an associate company of YGE. As an associate company, YGE no longer has control or oversight over Teddy and TheBlackLabel.
As soon as YGE lost control, Teddy announced that he was developing his own 5th gen girl group under TheBlackLabel.
In 2023, all of the artists at TheBlackLabel got to release an album. Previously, YGE had control over the release schedule for artists at TheBlackLabel and would only allow them to release music when it didn't conflict with YGE artists release schedules.
In 2023, during a YGE investor meeting, it became known that Teddy would have nothing to do with Babymonster but would continue to work with Blackpink.
Recently, a picture of TheBlackLabel girl trainees was leaked on a Korean social media service. The trainees were identified as teen actresses from TheBlackLabel and former teen trainees from YGE.

Which I guess I discovered the wrong ones and I never bothered to research on my own about him so I was not fully aware of him. Although, the blacklable thing (1st subsidiary, then associate and now I guess a completely different entity from YG) that I knew, and also his new GG. Isn't one girl from that leaked picture is "Hollywood" actress (or atleast she acted in Hollywood movie and several TV shows?)

The name BabyMonster is a YG idea since before 2016. before BlackPink got its name, they were Pink Punk in 2012 but when this group idea failed, they thought of BabyMonster (2013? - 2015?). Lucky we got BlackPink in 2016. So now currently, we got BabyMonster, and this name fits this group a lot more because of the ages of the girls and the talent they hold. the average age of the total group is 16.8 yrs old.
Two girls are 15, Chiquita and Rora. (Rora is the one which reminded you of Jennie)
