Apologies for the delay on this one - things are officially getting a little busier since our little Super Citizen popped out on Saturday (:D), so there might be a bit of a break in uploads. Got a few more in the upload backlog in the meantime though!
For this one I was trying out the buffed Punisher Plasma after some of you recommended it in the comments, and boy does it deliver. With a generous AoE, good damage and most importantly enough stagger to lock down a group of Devastators, this weapon is now an exceptional Automaton killer, its only negative being the projectile arc which requires a little skill to master.

Build:
This build was what I whipped up to try out the Plasma Punisher, but I'd probably tweak it somewhat having done the run. The PP handles pretty much every threat smaller than a Hulk - that I'm leaving to my Railgun. Didn't get the chance to try out the PP vs Gunships but the arc might make landing shots a little awkward - an AT support weapon like the Quasar or Spear would cover that and take out hard targets like Fabricators, Tanks and Hulks while letting the PP handle everything else. For this run, I'm relying on my 500kg, Railcannon Strike and Orbital Precision Strike to deal with the heavies.
For now, I've taken the grenade pistol for Fabs, and stun nades for emergency CC. If taking the AT route, you could take a non-AoE sidearm instead, which might have avoided the uh, unfortunate physics I ran into here.
Heavy armour with explosion resistance keeps me pretty tanky without resorting to any shield use.

Agreed, sick range with the grenade pistol. Playing bugs he’ll snipe 3 or 4 bug holes like that in a row.
That's the first time I've watched one of your games where you guys didn't seem to have every single POI / secondary position memorized. While I do thoroughly enjoy you seeming to know every nook and cranny of whatever map you spawn into, it was refreshing to see you searching for that final SEAF SAM site to complete the full clear. Also, that physics death where you got thrown into a rock and one-shot seemed a bit over the top. Then when your turned towards that small gap (Warrior had tried unsuccessfully to get through) I was like "Sweet liberty, no!!! You're walking into a bot trap!!!"
Feels like the new map gen hides these SAM sites better. Also no more clickimg on the map to find stuff so it's a little more challenging.
Yeah that physics death was weird from full health, not sure if it was hitting a corpse that caused it or if hitting the ground would have killed me too. Was also dumb of me to try the hole, guess I thought I was skinnier than Warrior :P
I've found that the way shots lob makes it really useful to fire at devastators from cover without having to peek out. The Plasma Punisher is definitely becoming one of my favorite weapons.

Loving the Punisher Plasma lately. It can do good work on both fronts if you balance your load out around it. Btw saw the news on Warriors discord! Congrats! Hope you're getting enough sleep! 😅 I've got two of my own so I know how big of an adjustment those first few weeks can be.
Sleep got patched out in the latest update, new poo thrower is pretty OP too, but a lotta fun :).
@@newspiked7385 Maybe the only time a nerf to a weapon would be gladly encouraged. Less poo sounds great.
Btw I've noticed you use heavy armor more often. Is this something you'd rec running solo as well? Or just better for group play due to increased enemy counts / less stealthy approach than solo?
@@thepromman I actually find it pretty good in general v bots whether solo or coop, if I'm taking a more aggressive approach anyway. I try to avoid taking shield backpacks unless essential, so heavy + explosive resistance keeps you out of one-shot territory for most things, with impact / physics damage being the only thing to stay scary. The reduced speed isn't such a big deal either since there's generally less kiting and more shooting from cover for bots.
If you're running the shield, or going stealth, or need more mobility e.g. running grenade launcher, which needs to get round to a Hulk's back to kill, then going lighter is worth it tho.

I like the Railgun and Plasma Punisher combo. It just makes sense.
Kind of makes me want to do a run where everyone runs plasma weapons though.
Glad to see you put the Plasma Punisher to good use here. Does incredible work against Devastators and Berserkers as we can see. Reading your description, I never tried using it against the Gunships, but I honestly think they fly too high for it to reach, I couldn't land any GL shots on them either.
Also, congrats on the newborn baby! I hope you can take good care of him! ^^
yeah, when I get time I'd like to try it with an AT weapon, feel like they'll complement the PP better.

Staggering devastators into oblivion with the plasma punisher is one of my favorite things to do, especially when you hit multiple at a time or save a squad mate with it

I find this weapon really underwhelming, needs more damage per shot imo considering the small mag size and the severe projectile arc (it should at least do as much damage as Jar 5?).

Yup! It's still a little confusing when it's actually open, it's only really obvious when you see the door animation play, so I still go for vent shots when I can.
You can use melee against the jumpers so they don't blow up.
Have you ever done a lvl 9 automaton eradicate mission solo?
Ah nah - think it's quite doable tho, will have to whack out a run sometime!

Pretty pathetic tho they think it's ok to just leave the game broken without even a quick fix patch to revert the patrols and spawns. Haven't played since that patch and won play till the game makes a drastic change to QoL
