I thought Donald Faison (Tobias/Catcher) was actually really funny in the show. He pops up a few more times as another character, but him as Tobias always makes me laugh.
You right, Fam. Slaves weren't supposed to be able to read or write. I think it was generally illegal to teach them. Some learned on their own as best they could and otherwise we're taught by either other slaves that knew or less commonly, by white people for various means. But yeah, in general if they knew a slave could read or write they were likely to be killed. Sometimes, they would become house slaves, but I imagine that was very rare.
This episode makes me depressed. So much horrible shit has happened in the world i don't want to believe in God. Slavery was evil and the Holocaust was evil gosh i don't want to believe in God and i hope we can stop the worst of evil from happening. In goodness we trust is my saying.
As a non-American, this episode is how I'm gonna teach my kids about the slave trade.
As an African American, this is is how I’m gonna teach my kids
Absolutely! Especially Uncle Ruckus' version of the story.
The most American thing you can do is teach them slavery only happened in the US
Huey definitely takes after Thelma while Robert takes after Tobias.
I think Django Unchained took some inspiration from this episode. Came out way before the movie released
Literal years before which is insane.
Love how Rukus and Robert both had a different story for Catcher
And they're both lies.
@@milesbradshaw6643 and both stories sexualize Thelma
Ayyy 😄 we finally made it to Catcher Freeman!!! So close to the Booty Warrior
Probably top 5 episodes. Lot of meta jokes reflecting the times. There was a writers strike when this came out 😂

Turk?
@@fieryphoenix586 Well, on Scrubs, but yeah.
Donald Faison is one of the most common voice actors on the show. He plays Petey in the movie Remember the Titans as well as Dr Turk on Scrubs
I find it hilarious how Riley enjoys Uncle Ruckus' version of Catcher Freeman.
I didn't see the credits until this year, that song was hilarious.
It's not CatchER it's CatchA Two completely different words.

Catcha please
6:24 Did he say he could read that letter he got ? 🤣 Read, Write, them mfs didnt have ANY of that shit. Ruckus will tell you that
“I might hurt you. Ha ha.” Was the darkest joke I laughed at in a minute
I'm pretty sure this one isn't based on any real life event
My favorite Boondocks episode
Riley makes points in the show that make no sense but make total sense
Miami said push the LIKE👍for DISFUNKTIONAL
Ever seen the 2013 film "Belle" it's a historical film of how the slave trade in U.K. eventually ended
5:00 you can’t help but laugh at their expressions, you know they planned this for Tobias…
Where tf did Rukus get the Pic from tho?! 😂😂😂😂
They already made the movie it's called the Django unchained

Ruckus did have the picture so I think he might be right

If this episode aired on TV today, boondocks will get canceled immediately
I prefer the Simpsons anyways. Plus grandpa is dead in real life the show isn't coming back
