    Character storage sites I was using in the video. Give them a go. (Toyhouse you need a code. I do not have one. I am sorry. ;v; )

    I use Toyhouse and I like it because of how easily you can toy around with things. There's a lot of codes to customise profiles, you can add tabs for elaborations + I love the general layout. (Also forums).
    I tried Unvale but I don't like the rules for "unpalatable things" because my ocs have lots of trauma and I don't wanna worry about my oc getting deleted or getting reprimanded for writing their character lore in full. (on toyhouse you can write all of character lore because there's warnings and stuff which I like)
    Also on unvale the uploaded images are less high quality than toyhouse

    Toyhouse is by far my favorite of all time! There is SO MUCH you can do and I can't even begin to describe how much I love love LOVE it! (Seriously, I wish I could describe it. I'm on it every day. Been using it for over 7 years at this point). I can literally make wiki pages for characters! Tons and tons of different customization you could do! And aside from uploading images, you can upload literature too! And worlds!!
    I'm also not into the adopt culture, I just want to write about my own little guys and store their silly images. But if you have a character made by a popular artist, you might get bugged by a lot of people wanting to buy it....
    Stay away from the forums, apparently? I heard it sucks, people always talk about how bad it gets. I don't use the forums because my main focus is working on my characters, so I never get to see what's happening over there myself.
    I tried Unvale for just a little bit and I'll admit it wasn't exactly my style. I might have been spoiled by Toyhouse's customization options, so Unvale feels very limited compared to that. However, my positive first impression is that it's very easy to get your characters seen! I got around 12 interactions on my characters in under an hour of uploading them, which is a lot for me. Someone even commented on my character, which was very nice!
    I was interested in trying Characterhub, but people were saying that they support AI art, which scared me away from using it. The profile options seemed very nice, though!

    Characterhub is really overwhelming to me. I tried it and it didn't really get me into it, everything is just too overstimulatinf to me. I love toyhouse but I think it has like an in between of the problems where it's very presentable but has too much going on because it has a bad ui which gives it a similar issue. And for unvale i think it probably is my favorite alongside TH if only it was more social, it makes me really sad unvale has no social stuff.

    toyhouse has been my go-to for the last few years- its really simple and its actually helped me get better at html writing because of character profiles!! yeah you can use ones that other people make or frankenstein them together but you can also write your own character profiles.. i also love the sorting system. the only thing i dont really like about it is the moderation but thats a whole other bag to unpack. ive never personally tried the other two sites mentioned in this video but they seem very amino adjacent with their layouts

    ive used all of these before and my favorites are probably unvale and toyhouse. i love how simple unvale is and whenever I make an oc I usually put it up on unvale first. using unvale to upload things first usually eliminates the stress of me making my ocs profile decked out immediately. i also think that the daily trivia can be pretty fun. i just wish unvale had more social features but I think they're working on that?? i use toyhouse to go much more in depth about my ocs since toyhouse doesn't have a character limit and profile customization helps a lot. i don't really know how to feel about characterhub tbh. I've uploaded like 2 characters on there and it just feels really overwhelming to me.

    characterhub is definitely my favorite of the 3. it starts you off with a tutorial and it's a lot more social than the other two. it never felt overwhelming to me primarily bc of the tutorial (they better still be offering that tutorial when you make your account it was really helpful). quizzes are a bit boring and annoying (they're mostly rp type quizzes and i dont care for those) but it's really nice to participate in the events and eventually you start recognizing users around the site, especially if you get into raffles (raffles are user hosted and people who enter them usually enter more than one). social spaces are just spaces that hold chatrooms that you CAN use for rping but there is also the rolechat feature which i haven't looked into much since i don't typically rp with my ocs. i've been meaning to get into some social spaces but i have social anxiety so it's a bit scary lmao. and bc of the feed it's a lot easier to get people interested in your stories and characters so you can try and form a lil fanbase. AND they can submit you fanwork on site. they can draw your ocs and even write about them :) it just feels a lot more welcoming and it's less just storage and more sharing and social aspects which is exactly what i've been looking for in a character storage site lmao i also really like all the options you can put in for your character. unvale also has these but i just i like characterhub better and they have a lot more preset ones and it's pretty guaranteed that someone will look at your guy at some point. also you can keep stuff as drafts or private/unlist them which is nice.
    i just really like characterhub man

      @power_startastic 18 дней назад +4

      joined ch last month, they still have the tutorials :D it's still slightly overwhelming to me but I'm willing to let it slide. yeah I started a quiz on one of my first few days on the site and still haven't finished it. I'm not very social but I plan to be once I actually get all of my ocs in the site. I agree with the higher chance people will see your guys, even though more people favorite my unvale stuff I feel they don't actually check them out ;; and the unlisted stuff is amazing as well. I agree on the characterhub hypetrain!!

  • @gregharold
    @gregharold 18 дней назад +25

    Haii :) This is a small critique/ tip on ur lil sprite so ignore if ur not interested lol.
    The tones on your sprite are very similar making it hard to see the expressions clearly. Since it lacks the contrast needed to focus on the face.
    To easily fix that you can add some minor shading/gradients on the characters purple fur/skin (kind of like you did on the dress and hair) or just making the outlines around the face in particular darker.
    It should be an easy fix that helps if you want to avoid using darker line art overall :) I like color my line art similarly to how you have it now, but then I darken it and add more vibrancy. Super cute character regardless! Hope this helps :)

    I love all the features on Character Hub, it feels like there's never a lack of things to do which I enjoy.

    i've used all 3 over a period of time and id have to say, all these oc storage sites just.. depend on what someone is looking for.
    toyhouse is a good oc storage site to do crazy customization due to coding, and it also has a big trading culture / marketplace culture. theres usually no community sense in it, since the market culture is bigger than the oc aspect of it. however since th has been around longer than any oc storage site, its more known. the th ui also looks pretty okay, not the prettiest but not the ugliest either. just beware there isnt. that much community/social aspects to it, lmao. if you're looking for character customization though, th works bc its limitless (as long as yk how to write or edit codes lmao). as for the others, they dont offer limitless customization like th.
    unvale is good, i love the ui and all but ? it doesnt add much incentive for me to personally keep coming back. the events they hold is usually the same concept (draw ur oc in said image or whatever) but diff themes--. i love the customization for uv too, esp if you're not into coding your oc's profiles and just want the basics. people are definitely more social there though, via comments on your oc's pages. however, lately, the more ive been on uv, i keep seeing more oc profiles that are just.. ? sharing arts of said creator, and not actually an oc. like. it feels like its becoming an art site, not an oc site. anyways, the investing thing too also feels. sort of off for me lmao.
    characterhub, is my personal fav as of late. it doesnt even have trading culture like th does, bc they dont even have features for it. ch is moreso community and social based, your oc's may not get as seen on occasions but usually the community is VERY friendly, if i had to compare it to another aesthetic of how the site works, id definitely say amino. and i dont mean that in a bad context at all either. CH has chat rooms to socialize w other oc artists and such. my personal fav feature is the events that they roll out every week, last week there was character olympics lol. the quests keep it lively, and the customization isnt limitless but still pretty damn good. its also relatively simple. i get its overwhelming at the start but if you can get past it, ch is SMMMM fun omg. another big feature of ch is compliment bombs, i forgot the requirements to get a compliment bomb, but if you buy a compli bomb (i think its $6 or $5 usd) your oc will get featured on the front page of the site :] i think if you compliment enough targets on compliment bomb front page, you get a compliment bomb urself ! i decided to use one on my oc and got 80+ comments. the community is truly nice in ch :] !!!

    Uploading Characters and images Unvale feels kinda overwhelming to me , especially with if you are trying to bulk upload images and your connection gets interrupted you have to restart. But the presentation of Unvale is pretty great, and the ability to add a character to multiple worlds is something I wish Toyhouse would let us do with the folders.
    But at the moment I am the most comfortable with Toyhouse. Might just because I have gotten used to the upload process, but over all the features is something it offers covers more than enough for what I want to do despite some minor annoyances.
