Well, that project sort of got shelved with a change of my daughter's plans. Sometimes life brings small disappointements, but also larger joys, since the change of plans was a result of the birth of my granddaughter. I was working through the redesign and didn't get too far. I suppose I might get back to it someday if I have the opportunity to revisit the idea of building a small home. Other changes are coming soon... so I'll soon update the channel trailer with news.
@@SalemWoodworks Great news! My congratulations! You might need to keep your eye on your daughter while you redesigning it or she will surprise you again. Have a word with her. Tell her if she carries on like that subscribers won’t see that house for the next few years!))) I hope she’s fine.
Hi, thank you for this video. Did you try OpenCutList extension to export your data in place of CutList ? OpenCutList bring more options and it could be easier to use to export to CSV. And if you arrange component axes along the grain direct you will be able to retrieve directly the real size of each part. Have a nice day.
I haven't, but I'll have to give it a try. Cutlist works the same way. If your part axes are aligned the dimensions work correctly. The only reason the knee braces weren't correct in this video is I didn't draw them with the part aligned with the part XYZ axis.
Hey, I appreciate your great videos! Do you use sketchup's Layout to create 2d drawings of your parts, or do you just reference the model as you layout?
I've just created simple drawings using 2D views and standard camera views (front, top, etc...) with dimensions. Since I'm just using the free version, I think the drawing capability are somewhat limited (or at least I haven't explored this yet).
It looks like Sketchup Make 2017 is reaching end of life from a support perspective. I now see the same thing myself when I try to access the Extension Warehouse now. Sad to see the free version go the way of the dodo. It's sure been great for me over the years. I'll have to consider what comes next...
Thank you for your quick reply! Very much appreciate and well illustrated. Most helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! It's greatly appreciated.
Will you post an update on final design of the house for your daughter? Interesting to see what was the advices from professionals.

She's doing great.
Thanks for this useful video
I was hoping it would not only have correct length for the braces but also the angle degrees of the cut. 😲

Is there a cutlist program like this for the new version. Compatible with mac
I'm sorry, I don't know.
