Finally got around to watching this, great video! Dreamworld is slowly turning from a bad Six Flags to a decent Disney style park, which is a win in my book. Greg and co have done an excellent job!
Happy to see dreamworld is re-figuring out its own theming. Looking forward to seeing what's to come, and steep taipan looks very fun!! An Australian snake themed thrilling rollercoaster sounds awesome!! :D
Safe to say Dreamworld is now close to back to its former glory, with Rivertown now complete with Disney style scenery. The park was packed yesterday car park overflowing, place looked amazing and the staff were very friendly
no way man, dreamworld in the early 2000s was way better., they removed one of the best rides the tower of terror and in return we get family friendly nontent rides, we want thrill rides
So, so, so much nostalgia!! ❤ The ads, the rides, etc. I haven't been in about 15 years, but I used to have annual passes for about 5 or more years, in the 90s + again in 2009, introducing my firstborn to the park. But, she only wanted to go to Wiggles World playcentre & then see the animals. 😂 I really miss it, but I know the magic that I felt in my childhood has long since left (although, watching the ads brought back a glimpse of it for me, thank you!) I don't miss the Thunderbolt, you'd hit your head on the harness quite hard around the corners. I absolutely miss the Blue Lagoon area. It was my favourite spot to visit. I have never visited their new water park, I thought it was ridiculous to have to pay extra, when Blue Lagoon was fine & used to be included in the ticket.
I first went to Dream World with my Aunty in 1982 when I was seven. The Thunderbolt was just brand new. I was one of the first to test the Tower of Terror before it opened to the public by just luck being right place right time early January 1997. I have gone to Dream World throughout the decades and ridden all rides. Love Dream World.
I remember visiting the theme parks in December, 2016 which is usually one of the busiest times since school holidays start mid December. Wet'n'Wild was busy, Movie World was packed and even Sea World was getting patronage despite the lackluster selection of rides. Dreamworld? Empty. All the thrill rides were closed for safety inspections and the mental toll of the accident was blatantly obvious on the staff. It was abnormally quiet and even WhiteWater World didnt have that many people despite all the rides being open. Walking over to the kids area, even that wasn't as busy as it usually was. That last month of 2016 was an eye-opening month for Dreamworld. There's the old saying that 'safety rules are written in blood'. Thunder River Rapids had numerous water pump problems throughout it's operation and on the day of the accident. Dreamworld did nothing about it. I have been on that ride multiple times. I could've been chosen to be crushed by a piece of machinery. Those poor families... Never compromise on safety.
Am i mistaken or did dreamworld also have an incident where a tiger attacked one of the trainers? I thought that happen not long after those poor people lost there lives. I could be wrong but i thought it was just another incident that could have put a nail in dreamworlds coffin. Great vid btw i like them they bring back alot of childhood memories for me and my family
Has to be the best presented theme park in Australia leaves Movie World & Sea World for dead . The main difference is Dreamworld seems to be prepared to spend money maintaining and adding to what they have and slowly replacing older attractions with new ones, where Movie World & Sea World are both looking very old and rundown they have rides constantly down for unscheduled maintenance and have removed some of the best attractions and replaced them with money seeking games also the shows and parades remain almost unchanged for over 20+ years.
Just went there again after many, many years with the nieces and nephews. Still fun for kids but overall was really sad after all my memories as a kid in the 90's. It has nowhere near as much stuff (tower of terror, river rapids, thunderbolt, wipeout, all of the Eureka mountain rides and exhibits, the entire chairlift, tiger shows and all the Australiana sections esp. Rivertown and the paddleboat steamer all gone) and it's very generic now - compared to being iconically, world famously Australian - lost all its identity. White water world was a great addition though!
I hope you didn't miss Rivertown! It's the best themed area in Australia with some great rides that really throw back to the good old days of Dreamworld - with a lot of hidden Easter eggs and references for people who remember the old days as well! Don't worry, the park is in very good hands and it's rebuilding incredibly well!
Although it is more of a amusement park than a theme park it is the best maintained park in Australia and leaves the competition for dead, the other 2 big parks on the Gold Coast look old run down and the lack of care and maintenance is there for all to see. Once Dream World selects a direction for theming l am sure it will all come together.
It's so sad the whole Gold Rush area is gone. Dreamworld is dead now. That was the only reason to go. That and the death of the paddleboat ride. Gravitron gave me headaches.
@@MaloneysCoasters I feel it’s still lacking that big something that made it a better option for thrill ride enthusiasts (especially compared to movieworld at the time 15 years ago when they relied heavily on superman escape and lethal weapon) which for me the tower of terror was. As much as I love the steel taipan the big 6 thrill ride era of dreamworld was special and I still hold out hope that the tower of terror will someday return to its rightful place on the dreamworld tower
Only them park corridor in Oz and still going 👍 considering Goldie and Brissy combined aren’t as big as Sydney or Melbourne. My kids have enjoyed them all many times.
Personally I don't mind ride and area rebranding based on IP deals to increase funding but only if it's reinvested in ride maintenance and new attractions. What I would give to have the wipeout back in its former glory.
when i went in late 2013/14 i was looking for the old rides that i went on as a youth i saw the laser tag i went with a mate my age(23) i asked the dude in charge what is the top score ( as COD KID ) i wanted to kill it he said a number i went on a 20:0 smashed it the dude in charged said hes never seen a score that high i said i camped he laughted and said that's still impressive the kids hated me but there dads laughed i miss being 23
I first went in 1997 it was great and didn't go again until 2005, it wasn't the same a big disappointment Went again in 2022 and it was terrible but it was a torrential rain day so many rides were closed but I can't complain further because I had the whole park to myself

It’s pretty great - if you go on it two or three times it’s worth the price of admission on its own!
A fantastic documentary, I hope the reupload gets as much as engagement as the previous one!

@ that’s why I said close, yes we need a new water attraction and a decent thrill coaster, steel taipan is good but doesn’t hit the mark like Rivals
@@MultiAsh69tower of terror was one of the main sources of life in that park imo, the big 6 thrill ride era was super special
Wipeout was hands down the best ride there. It was a sad day when that email come through saying it was shuting down.
Great Doco, I'm watching it again

Great documentary
I did not know they shut down tower of terror, holy shit my whole childhood has been taken from me with these theme parks
Sad day when thunder bolt was demolished. Great mini documentary
R.I.P those who horrifically lost their lives on the Rapids ride.
just saw you had to reupload this great video. I hope this click helps out engagement-wise.
the mine ride and thunder river was my fav i really miss them now
We need to go back in time, those Aussie themed rides would be amazing
1:06 I don’t think the camera man was filming the handbag

huge lack of thrill rides

Nick and Big Brother days lowkey kinda great despite the downturns
SO keen to see where it heads in the coming years
i was there on that fateful day ill never forget it thunder river rapids the water was low everyone could see it
I remember riding The Thunderbolt in 1995. It was rough, I got thrown around a fair bit and skinned my elbow on the side of the car.

We'll one ride had to go sadly
Also still very confused by the existence and placement of the Motocoaster

Some of the Dreamworks theming was pretty good
Nothing about the helicopter incidents?
It's so sad the whole Gold Rush area is gone. Dreamworld is dead now. That was the only reason to go.
That and the death of the paddleboat ride.
Gravitron gave me headaches.
It is sad that Gold Rush is gone, but Dreamworld is far from dead now. Rivertown is better than Gold Rush ever was.
