    Love your analysis, but go easy on the tv commentary team ! They didn’t suddenly forget all they know, but they gotta talk live & non-stop - inevitably reach a little to keep us viewers engaged !!

      I have to disagree with you on "go easy on the tv commentary team" when as you say "They didn’t suddenly forget all they know" when they fail to bring that knowledge to their commentary. The strategies unfolding in a bicycle race are harder to discern than in most other sports, so I'd appreciate the commentary team bringing on point commentary to up the knowledge of me the viewer.

    Chris, did you feel more pressure as a domestique on the big mountain stages with your leader (Cadel or Lance etc) relying on you, or when you were going all out for GC yourself and all the weight was on your own shoulders?

    • @ChrisHornerCycling
      @ChrisHornerCycling  15 дней назад +2

      This is a good video topic. It would take a bit of time to explain properly in writing. The short answer is that I didn’t really feel pressure that often. I was excited all the time when the racing started, as you can tell from my videos I’m still excited about the bike racing, but not that worrying kind of pressure excited. I always seemed to be able to get the ride result that I expected out of me unless there was crash or something happened. I loved it when the team had big riders such as Contador on it so I knew exactly what to do when the racing started. I never went into a race and thought you got to win this one race. I always went into the season with the ideal that I got win something but not this one race. So I enjoyed most of the season and never felt the big pressure. I probably felt more pressure when I was at home broken/sick and trying to get back to 100% health so that I could be there for the team at the races. Once I got to the race though I knew where the fitness was and never expected to perform over that level. 👊🦋

    Chris, what would cause someone like Caleb Ewan to be caught so far off position on a sprinters stage? He’s a very experienced professional, so it just seems odd that he’s been far out of contention on all the relevant stages. I can understand how someone might get caught out from time to time, like Tim Merlier today. But Caleb has been nowhere. Is it really team dynamics, or something more?

    • @jamespmorganjr4276
      @jamespmorganjr4276 15 дней назад +2

      I'm not the pro but it could be C.E may be "gun shy" since he had a few wrecks during the sprint over the past few years. I got wrecked in a group going over 29mph/46kph and it took a couple of years before feeling comfortable again going fast in a large group.

    • @ianjlilly
