In the post-race interview, Pogi mentioned all his teammates as they pulled off their respective efforts. Mentioned how their faces where doing these pulls. He naturally feels an obligation towards them for pulling so hard! That’s his motivation! Winning is repayment!
Rafal Majka was pulling so hard, that Pogi had to ask him to slow down! That was funny! No wonder he was suffering after yesterday’s ITT win.
Every GC contender was suffering including Tadej. Yet he managed to pull off this victory! This one is truly special!🏆

As I'm sitting on the chesterfield watching the last 15k of the stage my wife is in the kitchen trying to ask me something. When she gets no answer she comes into the room and says what's the matter, why aren't you answering me? Sitting there slack jawed I just point to the tv screen. She looks sees the race shakes her head and walks out of the room. This kid is unbelievable. So much fun to watch. Then I get to see you recap the day and get to enjoy it all over again. Watching you I have to agree that knuckleheadism was running rampant today. Can't wait for tomorrow.

I don't know if its just lip service but Tadej recognizing and praising his team esp this stage's efforts, seems like they really performed and worked well together. So far, this is a good team that really worked well for him despite being labeled team B or not top tier team to go w/ Tadej before the start of the tour from the other podcast/channels. But seeing/hearing this team really giving their best, protecting Tadej until the last push where he could attack to reach the finish, I really hope his team in the upcoming TdF be on the same or better team work like this so far in tour. Last week of d Giro to go, looking forward for more but safe ride for all.

Clearly he is the odds-on favorite to win the Tour now. A Giro-Tour double is such a mind-boggling achievement.
He really is towering over all the other riders of his era. I really don't see a Jonas comeback in time to be competitive, Remco is not close to Pog's level, and Bora doesn't have team enough to launch Primoz. UAE is firing on all cylinders, Tour looks to be a repeat of the Giro.

Seems like UAE riders work 100 percent for Pogacar in the Tour, 70 percent for Pogacar in other races he does, and all for themselves (sometimes even against each other) when he isn't riding. Chris I want your opinion on this but all I'm gonna say is if Vingegaard raced Pogacar on this stage he would have been dropped eventually like even with no crash i still would have him winning this stage. Pogacar is on a way better level than before and obviously not much competition but I know everyone is gonna say oh well if Vingegaard was racing he would have beaten him but the way Pogacar rode today's stage and to attack and catch Nairo was just crazy and I don't think Jonas could do that from that far out. You’re 100% correct on the Nairo call never came through my mind. He should’ve just sat up and suck on POGs wheel. 2nd was guaranteed already but he might have had a chance of winning if he attack him 50meters to go.

Do you really think if Nairo waited for Tadej it would have been any better for him? It feels like, Tadej, having the Giro already wrapped up, was more motivated to close the gap and win the stage. If Nairo waited to get on the wheel, well, who's going to win in the drag race up the final pitches? I'm just a big knucklehead on my own Chesterfield, but it was cool to see Nairo going solo for the win because, I'm sure, he knew it was his only shot against the Slovenian menace steamrolling from behind!

Good analysis as always Chris. I wasn’t sure how Pogacar would be a day after a TT based on the past TDFs, but boy oh boy was he on form or what?
Given what Pogacar showed, I doubt Quintana would have beat him even if he sat up on that penultimate climb. He still got Second on this stage though, which after his past couple of years is not bad at all.
It’s not secret that most of the teams here are B or C teams since everyone is saving their best for the Tour de France. Does this include the team DS’s as well? It’s the only way I can explain all these knuckleheaded tactics from just about every team save for UAE, and Lidl Trek on the sprint stages.

But my question though why didn't both INEOS and BORA-Hansgrohe not attack UAE in any of those climbs so that UAE could use its riders before the second last climb?

Seeing that Pog beat Quintana by 29 seconds, I would say Cofidis did a "great" job pulling UAE and Pog. Cofidis deserved THE KNUCKHEAD award on this day more than anybody else.
But, I will say Quintana still rode an impressive race. Had Quintana win, it would have been a huge win for him at this stage in his career, just as big as Pog winning this Queen stage. Amzing ride both both Pog and Quintana. No shame coming 2nd to the most dominant rider of his generation (and oh please, don't even bring in Jonas into the same sentence as Pog).

Pogo did not look that tired at the finish considering two big efforts in days . Certainly not being discussed on eurosport about similarities to Lance Armstrong😂 . The giganticos this year especially are just winning at will from any distance they like . I get impression there's one rule for the peleton and another rule for the giganticos

Hi Dan. Let’s say Wood’s drops back to the chase and helps out. Or how I would have played it, Wood’s sits on the break and gets as much rest as he can. The break is caught in the long valley and now he rides the front full gas until the Mortirolo. “Perhaps” ( I can’t say for sure here of course), with some help from other teams the gap is bigger and UAE see the time at 7min and don’t bother to try and win the stage. Maybe it works but it’s better than seeing a 5min gap. 🤔🦋👊

    • @ChrisHornerCycling
      @ChrisHornerCycling  24 дня назад +1

Or B/V ride the front because Storer is in the break now with time growing to Tiberi and they help Pogi solo to the win. We will never know with this many knuckleheads out there today. 😂🦋👊

Great analysis as usual but I have a little question and it's regarding Ineos. I kinda knew G wouldn't be able to put in too big an today after I think emptying himself to limit his losses in the TT yesterday, but shouldn't Arensman have been pacing G, his team leader up the final climbs? Isn't that a knucklehead move? He always seemed to be towards the back of the main GC group so I thought he was struggling but then seemed to go off chasing Rubio (and from what I thought was his main target Barret) in what I saw as him projecting his own race position, when I was thinking he should have been pacing his team leader and bringing him back up to those attacking. Pog is in a different world, stunning ride, but I kinda expected this because none of the other top riders are here, the fact G is in second shows this. His form though is making me really want to see how he does in the Tour. I hope he doesn't push too hard in the final week to be fresh for the big showdown in a month or so. What are your thoughts? He has ad to be favourite having seen this?
