    I’ve had mine (2022) now for 2 months. It’s in Miami Blue and the color really pops along with the 21” wheels. Sticker was almost $92K. Here are my observations:
    Pro’s - great acceleration and handling especially in Sport Plus. A GTS outfitted the same as mine would have cost $6k more and I really don’t see the benefit getting to 60 mph only .3 second faster. The 360 degree camera system is really nice with its sensor that activate whenever you get close to something while parking. Also, the PDSL+ head lights are the best I have ever seen. A pro and a con is that the front windshield goes very high to the roof which provides a lot of viewing area but also let’s in a lot of light, brightness and glare. You’ll use the dash visors often. I might add a brow to help with this.
    Con’s - the worst of which is the tachometer and speedometer dials. Mine were standard with dark gray faces and lighter gray numbers and marks. Both dials are too dark in daytime and not easy to see the readings. A hood covers over both dials and it’s shadow makes it too dark in daytime. At night with headlights on they are backlit and look fine. If I had known this I would have paid extra for lighter colored dials. I really regret this as this issue upsets me every time I look at either dial. Other cons are limited interior storage room, front and rear camera views are wonky, I don’t like the views of the navigation screens and I wish the gas tank was a little bigger. The ACC sensor in the front grill is huge and therefore noticeable and looks like a big seeing eye! Finally I wish the horn could honk when locking the car with the fob. It would help finding the car in a big parking lot. There is no remote start feature so the fob only allows lock, unlock, rear hatch opening and a panic button.

  • @leeraymer166
    @leeraymer166 3 года назад +34

    Love the Macan and that color is stunning. However, 103K for this with nearly 40K in options alone is just a bridge slightly too far for me. I’d really have to do a deep dive into the options list and compare it to what’s fitted as standard on the GTS before making a decision. The GTS might actually be the better buy between these two Macans.

    The base Macan rides better than Macan S. I bought both this year. Just reviewed the base on my channel in chalk. It may be the lighter weight 4 cylinder engine, but the S car is much harder, bumpier ride all other things being the same for the most part. This 2022 is not worth 100k considering it borders on Panamera territory in that price range.

    • @cbatiau2528
      @cbatiau2528 3 года назад +3

      I weighed the S against the base Macan when I bought my 2019 base Macan, and couldn't justify the higher price for the S; I thought it lacked power that it should have with a V6 in it, and that it wasn't that much peppier than the base. The car's computer learns your acceleration habits anyway, so my base Macan is quite good at acceleration -- no complaints from this previous owner of a 465-hp Porsche. Not only does the base handle better than the S, presumably because of its lighter weight, but it gets much better gas mileage; the base really handles curves and high speeds extremely well (my main reason for getting a Porsche, in addition to being built like a tank, safety-wise, and having fabulous interiors).

    • @suitcafe
      @suitcafe 3 года назад

      @@cbatiau2528 I agree with you. I was driving the S all day yesterday in prep for a review video I am doing on it for my channel. The base car I have, already reviewed in chalk/black with black gloss tailpipes, is just smoother better at taking road bumps & is super quick even accelerating from highway speed & more when needed. The base has Michelin Latitude HP tires & the S has Goodyear Eagle Touring. Maybe that is making a difference. I believe the Michelin to be very superior in my view. Thanks for the reply.

It's a big enough issue for me that may keep me from buying a new Porsche until/unless they go back to buttons (I also hate that black gloss that holds fingerprints and that reflects sunlight horribly .. they should have at least gone for matte black instead of glossy black -- stupid designers who obviously don't drive the cars that they design).

    These newer cars are built on ever more modular platforms that tend to reuse either older power trains and drivetrains or from another already existing model. This all done to consolidate manufacturing and ultimately save costs yet the prices keep going up which I get is in part due to inflation, but where they really get you is in the options game. Next thing you know they’re going to treat the features on cars like software and everything will already be equipped on the car except you’ll have to pay a subscription for things like heated seats, nav, hell, extra horsepower. Lame as f*^k.

    Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. The transfer case on my 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.

    Still no Android Auto support. Come on Porsche, not everyone is an Apple disciple. Lack of AA support is reason enough to look at different vehicles. I shouldn't have to switch my preferred cell platform to suit my car. And there is just no valid excuse why this car doesn't have it, particularly now that 911 has it.

    It's possible to spec wisely. Keyless entry isn't standard because here in the UK at least, car theft is a big issue. Having a physical key is much safer than keyless system if you have a desirable car, it reduces the risk of it being stolen when you are at a petrol station or off your drive.

    I know this drives best in class for its intended use. However, I cannot ignore the lack of occasion inside this car (less the seat belts.) This is made worse by the fact for that for 65K out the door I can get GV 70 with an interior that honestly blows this car away for 40K less in terms of colors and overall feel. I know sacrilege. Comparing a Genesis to a Porsche. Let's be blunt about this though. For 95% of the folks that will be driving these cars the cars will be spend there lives well below the 9/10ths driving that allows for the Porsche to justify its cost.

      Lastly, your comment about most folks never using the max ability of the car is just nonsense. Owning a daily driven car isn't about that, although it can be with this car because it's ethos is Porsche. For me and many more, it's owning the best engineered product that's generating the buzz, and with the Macan, it's the cheapest way to own a piece of the company that's made the best gear for decades. It's 'ability' is multi faceted in how it can please it's owner, and not solely performance based.
