Col. Thapar, Sir, over all these years, whenever one has seen you in the media, one is always amazed and moved in equal measure with your equanimity in facing your immense loss, but in the same breath innate pride in having raised a brave son like Capt. Vijayant Thapar who made the ultimate sacrifice in Kargil. Having said that, we have repeatedly failed our soldiers by not not providing them world class weapons, clothing, equipment when they have been tasked to defend our long borders against two dangerous, back stabbing adversaries. Whenever there is any increase in the defence budget, we hear a chorus of voices questioning it. When something terrible like Kargil happens, where are these voices?
Despite the fact that I am (technically speaking) one of the enemy's but I salute the resolve of the Indian soldiers and their determination to disregard life or death and get back what they lost. My respects to Col. Thapar's martyred son.

What bravery and what greatness Our Soldiers are the persons to admire not film ,sports stars or politicians the soldiers are selfless and they sacrifice even their life for us 🙏

Heart touching ,emotional one .all happened whose fault.who r the culprits for the loss of 521 heros of our sons .why not nation guard against enemy .we know enemy .but our land was not protected well not given the latest arms ammunition .that leadership not punished .without punishing kargil vijay diwas not satisfy our great souls ,seeing on our sky .high.

Forgive me for saying this as I am not Indian, however, I strongly resent phone calls for the announcement of death in such situation, it should be only in person by military personnel. My humble opinion.
