I was about to throw this pedal away, then I sudden thought, "why not ask RUclips?"... and sure enough, loose screws with one almost falling out. Now it's all fixed thanks to you. Bless you bro :)
Perfect video, completely restored my pedal. Both screws had fallen out and were rattling around inside; I thought the pedal was broken but found this video and had it back to perfect in minutes! Thanks for taking the time to record and post this!
I was able to fix a problem on the same model pedal. This one had a detached wire, and I did not know where to reattach it. But I was able to figure that out by observing the video. Thanks!
Great video! Ran into this vid while looking for something else and I remembered that my pedal seemed to be getting a bit loose. After I watched this I opened it up and sure enough, the screw had almost worked its way out completely! Thanks!
Thanks, I've been buying pedals with the warranty for years and they all have this problem. I just return them. I just repaired two pedal today. Oh happy day!
You can always replace the old rubber contact covers with the rubber button covers from an old tv remote/ etc. they are almost identical, and will work as long as they fit over the contact, and the height is the same (which they do approx. 95% of the time).
I took mine apart, inspected wiring, seemed ok. Did a mixture of pressing my finger against the grey contact (well it's orange on mine but whatever) and pressing the metal contact against it. Sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Same when I sat it on its side. Reckon the contact board itself has deterioriated?
The silicone contact switches are not glued on. They have 4 anchors that push through the circuit board. i have 2 of these pedals that didn't work and tested the 4 contacts individually by hand. I swapped out a bad one (using a paper clip to CAREFULLY push the anchors through the board. I still have one pedal that doesn't work but these switches are hard to find....DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE TO BUY RECLAIMED OR NEW M-AUDIO (or Livewire) CONTACT SWITCHES?
fixed mine! did't quite get what the problem was but I cut the black wire somewhat after the loop and re-soldered white and red. works now. Good video except for the music. Very bizarre choice.
I have soldering issues. The second sensor on the "cap" of the pedal (the one with the M-Audio logo) has two contacts for the two white wires (one with red writings and one with red markings). I don't know which one should go where. They both fell out
Help! I have the smaller sustain pedal and is also an M-Audio. There was this switch thing near the cable that connects it to the Keyboard. It got loose and it sank so we decided to open the cover of the pedal. My Dad tried to fix it but the switch was still loose but the sustain pedal stilll does not work. What should I do? Thank You for replying 🙂
Hello! I am trying to fix my Korg ci9600 pedal. Why do you say if the plastic part falls out to buy a new pedal? Is it totally screwed? Also, how can I connect an older pedal connector to a newer one?
an odd design - essentially two "aftertouch" channel pressure pads from a keyboard, ramschackeled onto circuit board chunks from the shop flow, couple wires and done.
I ran into a weird problem... I used a sustain pedal with my m-audio keystation for a few years in till one day I unplugged my sustain pedal to move things around. When I plug my sustain pedal back into the keystation, the keyboard will shut off. Unplug it, keyboard turns back on...
I have an issue with my Sp1 pedal. Works on Sostenuto polarity perfectly, but doesn't send midi signals on Sustain polarity. The strangest part is that if open it up, and press the mechanism with my bare hand on Sustain polarity, it works. But as soon as I put the metal case back on, stops working (only on that polarity) Can anyone help?

Can't even hear anything with all that music sheesh
Yeah, it's interesting that a video related to music making has a shitty mix. It happens.

The music is a bit much.
I second that emotion! LOL too much sauce.

Dude, seriously, kill the background music. Just do another take, please.

I've just bought it and it has an issue after a few weeks. I appreciate that. Thank You Mate. All the best.

That was my problem as well. Put the screw back in & It's good as new now! Thanks!
Pretty wild that you would put that loud ass music in the background but can't front this video helped me fix my pedal...
My god, man. Not sure what hurts more, my ears from the ridiculously loud music, or my eyes from the out of focus video.
Thanx brother, i lost the screw ,i thought it wasn't from the pedal...lol any idea how to get another one....

Just stumbled into this. I should’ve known. I still have one and the screws inside were long gone.
You're the real MVP

Why did your background music get louder and louder? I couldn't hear what you said.

Very useful except the music!

It worked thank you.

I've checked all the parts you mentioned that may go wrong, they are all fine, but my sustain pedal still not working...
Tracy Chen-----Same here.
thank u bro.. u saved my day.
Hey guys anyone know where what type of screws those are?
