Dude I am so grateful. Saw this and got inspired to fix up my broken Count to 5 pedal, and lo and behold, the contact plates were covered in grease. A little rubbing alcohol later, and the pedal works again, after 2 years of being broken! Saved my $350 pedal mate, and my next gig is gonna have all the toan now
Just tried this on an OD pedal (Jetter GS124) that would cut out when clicked on. Just like the GI in the vid. Opener her up and found that there was excess grease inside the pot where the three contacts are, likely from the pot manufacturer. Cleaned them up and so far, no recurring issues. Great vid, you saved my pedal! Thanks!
Thanks to your video, today I fixed the 3PDT switch that was causing my Sonic Maximizer to cut in and out. I did just as you recommended, taking the switch apart, cleaning all the parts inside with contact cleaner and then carefully reassembling by bending the prongs back in-place, and all while it was still in the pedal! Now it works flawlessly again! Many thanks and happy holidays Wriggly!
gracias amigo, tu video si que me funciono mi ¨little big muff¨ no servia pero seguí tus pasos ya que tenia un sonido intermitente o a veces simplemente no emitía sonido y ahora esta como nuevo, gran video!!!!
Man, I'm VERY grateful for this video. My PC Timmy was starting to short out. Tried different cables, etc. Found this video, and it took 30 minutes to disassemble and reassemble. Plugged it back in and it works again! Glad to get it fixed before the gig this weekend! Thanks a ton for this helpful video.
Fixed my Turbo Rat with this video. Thank you so much! Had to solder one of the cables as it was necessary in order to open the switch box. Thanks again!
Thank you so very much. Your video gave me the knowledge and confidence to open up my Go-Go tuner and realign the switch pin under the spring. Took a couple of tries but I kept at it and finally got it working after 6 years.
Funnily enough I came to this video for my Hot Wax, but it was the Hot Tubes side playing up. I love the pedal but the reliability leaves a lot to be desired it seems...
Hey man thanks a lot I tried the isopropyl trick but it' only worked a little I saw your vid and when I opened the blue lol box there was so much metal shaving I did as you did and it works great !! Thanks now I don't have to buy another big muff rock on
Dude you are a genius tinkerer! I have two Wampler pedals with switches that were going out. I was just about to desolder and solder in new footswitches but what's the point if the new one will develop the same problem? Your approach was much faster and fixed my switches.
This helped a ton, thank you! Opened up my IdiotBox Fuzz Freq V.2, and found that the offending switch had two wires with a little fray to them, but as soon as put everything back together, the issue was no longer present. Maybe I just needed to move the wires around so that they weren’t touching? 🤷 Either way, I’m a master electrician now, thanks to you! 😂
i just fixed my tone wicker muff with this tutorial. thank you so much. now I am thinking about doing the same thing to my Digitech Polara but the switch is different compare to 3pdt. I have no idea how to disassemble the footswitch
Hi Everyone! The top of the foot switch on one of my pedals has jumped out and I am unable to press it down to its place. How should I fix it? Is there a vid on this issue? Thanx very much!
I have a noise gate pedal, its an always on pedal, now the engage button is acting up, can I remove it just connect all wires to turn it literally as an always on pedal?
Curious, the lube you had "on hand" ( no, I won't go there! Too easy! 🤭) was it by any chance di-electric grease? If it wasn't, you'll be back in there again! Just a friendly heads up!
I'll try it with the zoom, tho I doubt Zoom will make it as easy as this to access the switches, that's the issue with the multi effects banks, you lose the foot switches then you will not be able to play with the settings you've saved etc,it would be neat if these companies put a small manual switch to over rice it if the foot switches break
idk if the switches have a polarity but i soldered mine the wrong way it wouldnt do anything when i hit the switch once i unsoldered and resoldered "the right way" it turned on and off so make sure you dry test it before closing everything up O
Could be. This may of may not help you but, after I put one pedal back together, the switch wasn't clicking. I found that was because I didn't clamp the top back into place tightly / flush enough (see 3:52). So check if that looks OK on your switch too. Good luck!
Well, I can't guarantee it'll work, of course, but if you think the switch is the problem, I figured I was either gonna have to replace it or try to fix it. So I gave fixing it a shot and it worked for me, at least. The section at 3:52 is important: Gotta make sure the top goes back on tightly / securely or the switch won't click. Good luck if you try it!
Great job, my man! I can't believe it only has 69 likes (huh-huh, huh...he said...sixty-nine. Huh-huh...). Just seeing you do this gives me the confidence to try it myself. It always takes one brave soul to venture forth before the rest of the pack follows in lemming-like procession. (Here I was going to write the sound a lemming makes only - what the hell sound does a lemming make?! _Whisker swish, whisker swish?)_ Again, great job. And thanks for sharing! - JD, Montréal (Canada, eh?)

thank you so much. this took 20 minutes and completely fixed a pedal that had been sidelined for years. greatly appreciated!
Had sound cutting out on a pedal I literally bought a month ago and this tutorial fixed my issue. Thank you so much
Amazing video, exactly what I've been trying to learn how to do for years but was always too scared to do it myself. I can do this!!!
Thanks! Good luck and I hope it works for you!
Thank you so much. The best quality video I found here about this. I'll try to fix my Ibanez bass synth pedal. I cross my fingers 😂

Great vid, you saved my pedal! Thanks!
Fixed my Bonsai pedal with this video. The goop on those little contacts was giving me a dead signal across my board. Much thanks and subscribed!

Amp footswitch saved from landfill. Thanks very much for this.

Use a small bit of cloth, or even paper if you hold the switch by the threads! Loved the rest of the video. 😃
Great video! The crayon side of my EHX hot wax started bypassing the effect even though the light was on. This fixed it perfectly!
Funnily enough I came to this video for my Hot Wax, but it was the Hot Tubes side playing up. I love the pedal but the reliability leaves a lot to be desired it seems...
Great tutorial! Just fixed my Montreal Assembly CT5 like this!
opened two of mine which were messing up grease everywhere thought i was gonna have to change the switches ....sorted now great vid thanx
Thank you, this video just saved my Keeley Compressor!
This video was a big help fixing the switch on my EHX Hot Wax. Thanks a lot!
Boom! Perfect timing. The 3rd cheapo footswitch just went on a pedal. I'll think I'll try and fix the switch now. Thanks muchly.
Thanx mate, that was the solution for my Keeley compressor! Great video! Thanx again!
Hey man thanks a lot

Great video, I have a Electro Harmonix OD Glove and a Soulfood that have the exact problem.
Definitely will be trying this. Thanks.
This helped a ton, thank you!

Worked perfect for me, thank you for this!
Thank you thank you thank you
excellent my friend.. I have the same problem so after watching your video I will get to work...
Cool. I e always just swapped it out for a new one. I’ve got two Diamond J-Drives that need fixing.
Dude! Excellent video. Perfect directions and everything!
thanks. I tried it today, it works.
I’m very grateful. 🤘
Thanks buddy...its been a great help for me..subscribed for more knowledge 😊

The Polara is not true bypass and has "soft" relay switching. You might have to change the whole switch here, or ask resurrected Digitech for support.
Fantastic video and tips. So good. Thanks man!
Excellent thank you!!!!
Thanks man, helped me a lot!
A deft repair, I dare say.
Super helpful! Thank you.
Thank You ❤️
Will bending the tabs slightly inward before slipping in be an effective way to get them in place?
you saved me man had a delay with reverb and the delay switch suddenly lowers my volume when I switch it, turns out the switch is full of grease
txs

Just fixed my Full Drive 2 - clean wouldn't work after distortion. Thank you
Well, I guess I'll buy the contact cleaner and see if I'm as lucky as you. It turns out I'm missing my Big Muff a lot :'(

With this tutorial there is no need for soldering, or am I missing something?
@@mopsvonmiez if you are going to take out the switch all they way off to clean it you dont have to though
My problem may lie only in the spring itself as the button has gone “limp” on a pedal with a similar switch. Wish me luck!

Ya, I'm trying to help a guy, issues. I need a 6pin atom switch . looks like they are phasing out??!! If they don't have this?? What do I do???
I have cutting out issue with my freidman beod but I feel a little worry to try your method especially about opening the swith, is it ok?

what spray did u use to clean the small parts?
I had an antique-looking can of RadioShack Tuner Cleaner. But an electronics contact cleaner / lubricant should work.

The caged?? Is what keeps them caged,!!!
Ditch the drum track. Yuck, useless. Ruins an otherwise excellent video
