Hi Davie. Thanks for another outstanding pattern and also for doing the Filling Mill catalog video. I spoke with a FM rep via email and sounds like the US side of the company will have their ‘24 catalog out in a few months. UK introduces new products in the Spring and US does their’s in Summer. Take care and appreciate the fantastic videos!! Andy

Hi Davie, as ever lovely tying. For myself I have been tying weighted - lead wire bodied marabou damsels for a long time (no beads back then) even down to size 14's. Years back I did a little experiment on a tiny local fishery where you could sight fish - mainly rainbows. It was very simple - pull a traditional style wet fly / nymph past the nose of the fish - no interest, no response.....and then use something weighted and marabou - it was as if a switch had been flicked, the fish became very animated and aggressive.
Did not really work for the brownies! though they were partial to a late evening slow retieve slightly subsurface size14 Mallard and Claret.

Outstanding as usual Davie! I’m always impressed by your ties but the one thing that always gets me is the consistency within the boxes. I can tie a perfectly usable fly but my consistency isn’t there. They all look slightly different 😂

Great video Davie. Liked the way you described one of your methods of fishing this fly. Maybe do this on future patterns.

PerfectIy dressed damsel. I find myself going back to brass beads on several of my ties. A little more size without being overly heavy.

One of the trout magazines had a pattern similar with the marabou body, probably mid 90s. I tied a few like that and with a gold bead they were quite successful
