- Hey, I'm back!
Happy belated New Year and may the 2023 be better than the last.
I've always been a fan of Tsurune and if you're sleeping on it then go and check it out. It has beautiful animation (Kyoto Animation Studios duh), great characters and bromance. I swear, I cannot decide who do I ship the most with Minato so why not do the both ships in a video.
I haven't been editing for a while so I hope you'll like this new video. Let me know :)
Anime: Tsurune
Song: Dangerously by Charlie Puth
Trueeee
Why is it that schools have drills for fires and earthquakes, but nothing for when one’s two best friends declare war on each other? 💣💥⚔️
Seiya x Minato is the best ship for me in this anime- like I always say, there's just so many disturbing nuances shipping coach x student (Masa x Minato) that reminds us too much of those unhealthy power play relations in the real world when the ages are too far apart and when the relationship is on the "mentoring" side. Shu is a bully in the LN- and unless you subscribe to all those toxic BL manhwa plots where the rival/bully suddenly becomes "romantic" I wouldn't like Shu either as a relationship goal.
Besides, I'm tired of the same writer peddling rivals as potential mates. Rin used Haru as "adrenaline pump"- he wants him to boost his adrenaline and up his game- that's why they always arouse each other's competitive side. But that's NOT okay in a relationship- where you're with an adrenaline junkie who simply wants you around to get a "high" in his game. I hope the writer will be more "mature" this time and give us a healthy relationship with just a dash of fluffy romance- not the cringe older x younger, bully x nerd that you'll find in tons of unhealthy hentai and ecchi anyway.
Anyway, sorry for writing an essay- just my thoughts. Free to disagree- but I hope no one gets hate and disrespect either. We're all just fans of the same anime- so I'm glad this amv is around to give fans something to brighten their day! Happy New Year as well~~ ^_^
Spoke the words right out of my head, thank you!
I appreciate your opinion. I am also not a fan of Minato x Masaki ship because I prefer Masaki as a wise mentor to the team and as you mentioned, his relationship with Minato would be wrong on so many levels. I haven't read the LNs, but I've heard that they heavily depict Minato x Masaki as a ship and that there is no Seiya x Minato in it so I much rather prefer the anime version because their relationship seems just right. I hope we get more Seiya and Minato moments in the second season.
As for Shu, I'm always down for some good rivalry between him and Minato as long as it doesn't become toxic. They seem to be good friends despite the rivalry so I appreciate that. Luckily, in the second season it looks like they will expand upon his character more so we'll see how that turns out.
Sorry if I blabbered a lot and thank you for watching the video :)
@@sora6130 True. Shu gets redeemed a little later... and yes, I hope they keep the rivalry a little more realistic. I also have nothing against rivalry- they spice up the story- but it saddens me that Shu can be quite the hater and wants to drive Seiya out. Seiya is always "labeled" as a kind of "stalker" in the anime (even when it's just a joke, I feel bad for Seiya). It's clear that Seiya feels a lot of guilt for that scar on Minato's stomach because if he didn't stop Minato to talk to him, he and his mom wouldn't be hit by that car that actually killed Minato's mom. The anime downgraded that aspect even when in the LN the entire first arc revolves around fixing Seiya's and Minato's "broken" relationship that had to do with Seiya's guilt. Minato gets mad that Seiya might be sticking it out for him only because of this guilt- until they sit under a tree under the moonlight and have a "heart to heart" talk. ^_^
I'm getting Rin "vibes" around Shu- but I'm hoping the writer doesn't take that route AGAIN (we have so many shippers already loving the toxic rival/bully x nerd pairing that's becoming a little toxic itself). I mean- definitely one should look out for RED FLAGS in relationships where the other guy wants to drive out your BFF because he thinks you should "take responsibility" for messing with him. Rin isn't exactly that kind of guy, I know- but he does make you feel that both he and Shu in Tsurune are always haggling for being number one- and using Haru and Minato as that unbeatable norm to motivate them into reaching that goal. It's quite... narcissistic really- and we know narcissists aren't good at any relationship either because they usually can't separate "winning" and "beating you" with wanting to be with you.
As for Seiya and Minato, in the LN Minato sends a lot of romantic signals- he stares at the "beauty mark" on Seiya's face, and when Seiya disappears on him, he actually feels a "burst" of excitement that's compared to a physical "rush" or "outburst" (down there?) that seems to say Minato is sexually aware of Seiya in some ways. But I guess it's part of the writer "baiting" fans again- since there's an equal amount of flirting Minato actually initiates with Masa (Minato and Masa's car conversation when they're alone is something I hate to see in anime- it's a bit cringe.)
I hope we get more Masa as a "mature "mentor and not "mentor as a cringe flirt" that we get a LOT in the LN. I really hope for less ship-baiting wars (that almost ruined Free) and more character building in Tsurune. ^_^
