How I glaze Peacock Eye pieces:
The first glaze is applied to the outside and down to around the top of the eyes. This glaze is usually an opaque solid colour, typically using titanium/rutile for the opacifier.
Then a fluid translucent glaze is applied to the inside. It should overlap the first glaze, coming almost to the rim. There's no reason it can't come beyond the rim, I just like the increased contrast between the solid outside and patterned inside.
The way I glaze the inside is to pour only as much glaze as I need into the piece (this takes a little trial and error to find), rolling the piece around to first evenly coat the inside then putting any extra glaze on the overlap for greater glaze movement. If you do it this way, it's a good idea to have a sponge or large brush on hand to scoop glaze back out if you accidentally pour far too much in.

Fired to cone 6 ox.
Car dent puller, that's a first for me. Nicely done.
I just can not get over how beautiful the end result is. 😍
Thanks for being so generous in sharing your wisdom!
Hey old forge, jon the potter sent me over here. Gotta say love the design of that tool and absolutely loved that mug you sent..
Love watching you work!
The car dent puller, is genius! I might have to borrow that.
Thanks for sharing. I'm purchasing a dent puller now. I love that idea!
Oh My Word! A car dent puller! Awesome. I always make such a mess. I have been doing it backwards. I had been using a liner glaze inside first then doing the outside. Always make a mess of the inner portion while trying to glaze the outside. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for sharing - I will try it out. :)
How awesome! Thanks for sharing your secrets- I’m going to have to get a dent remover :)
I think it looks more like either a cell phone holder that I have or a GPS holder. I have never used it for either, but now I know what to do with it! Thanks! A great video!
Omg! That is gorgeous!
This is when RUclips should have a Super thumbs up! Thanks for sharing your process!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience
Amazing! Thanks for sharing that!
WOW I just saw this, it is fabulous!!!!! Can you say what two glazes you used?
Thank you for the subtitles, wonderfull
Beautiful!
Never mind the car dent puller! Glazing the inside with just enough glaze! Wow!
Thanks! Since making that video I've actually started being more precise with the glaze on the inside and I weigh it as I pour, there are a few more recent mug glazing videos up now
Omg that’s genius with the car dent pulled
Magic hands good bless you ..
But how to make the bisque with the dents on it?
Please can you tell us the name of the 2 glazes you used and what temperature you fired them? Please please 🙏
I’m still having the Selsor Chung runs, what is your SPG?
너무 아름답네요.
혹시 유약이 mayco의 'S2701 peacock eyes'가 맞나요?
Where did u get the mug clip from pls :)
any glaze of our choice ir you use a specific glaze that runs more?
Very nice! thank you for this. Can you please direct us to where you can find a Car dent puller like the one you are using? I searched Amazon, not happy with the results. Pretty please!!
I got mine from Amazon, it's a Gunson mini dent puller
@@OldForgeCreations Whoohoo!! found it. Thank you very much, and thank you for sharing your skills and talents.
Do you have any similare glaze recipes that fire to cone 10 to give same effect? Thanks
No, sorry, I've never fired that hot
The ingredients of the receipt of the glaze is in grams?
How are there two colors inside if it only has one glaze on the inside? I’m a new potter and would love to try this technique
Can you do this brushing the glaze on? (I dont have dipping glazes)
Yep! That's how I did them at first. The glazes need to be fairly thick to get the movement
@@OldForgeCreations thanks!
Can you post a time lapse video of the cup drying? The glaze looks brown/grey but the finished product is blue?!? How?
What cone do you fire? Can you share the glazes you use in the mug?
Thank you
wait...wait...that flowing dot pattern is an exact geometric representation of quantum field stable loop gravitons forming under the influence of the actively differentiating strong force in competition with quark-proton agglutination at approximately 40 milliseconds after the big bang
Cloud i know the color the Glaze Comb?
New to the channel (referral from @Jonthepotter video)
What causes the spots? Are the a result of the surface texture of the inside of the piece?
He pushes little dents into, in this case, the mug. The glaze then naturally flows around it.
@@Scott_CThey are too regular to be random so I suspected they were either dents or bumps (from the texture on the outside) and that is causing a change in the glaze thickness and thus produces the effect. The peacock eyes come from his technique's effect on the glaze.
Exactly that. It's stamped from the outside, and the glaze flows around the texture to create the pattern
@@OldForgeCreations Beautiful!! How would you achieve the bumps just on the inside if you would rather not have them on the outside as well?…
I don't understand how you made the Peacock look. What makes the glaze do that look? Thanks.
The linked blog post explains it
Perfect .
Beautiful! Could I get that look with lower temperature?
Probably, but you'd need to experiment with the glazes to get a similar result
Are these cone 5 or cone 10 glazes?
According to the recipes linked in the description, they are cone 6.
