im glad in not the only one who lust after a nova twin cam. my first car was a 87 nova. It was the ultimate beater for a first car. I will find me a twin cam some day to relive the good ole days when i first got my license
These things are super reliable. There is actually a Twin Cam for sale on craigslist in Minnesota or Wisconsin if I remember correctly. It is quite rusty though!
Hello Road Omg you actually replied! Dude your channel is going to grow so fast I'm telling you . When I buy it Friday I'll make a video and send you a link. As stupid as it sounds your nova videos have been very inspirational to me in the fact that maybe what everyone's saying about this car isn't bad... I must say.. Have you ever heard of regular car reviews?
Awesome, would love to check out the car! I also owned an '86 base Nova back in the day. Was super reliable. Nice to see my vids have inspired you! That's great! 😀 Yup RCR is some good stuff. He is a very insightful writer-and has inspired me to improve my writing skills.
Hello Road / Ethan Tufts yo I want to buy your nova! What’s the price?there has to be a price?if I buy it im never getting rid of it. I like the twin cam nova more than you do man.lol.i don’t mean any disrespect by saying that I just want you to know if you sold it to me it’s going to someone who will keep it top notch forever.
Good stuff! Great cinematography, and I loved your Nova. I was up the row from you in the green Acura Vigor. Btw, I got a kick out of the "motel room arrival" sequence. Keys thrown on the bedside table and all!
Thanks so much Tyson! Too bad we didn't get to meet in person. I just watched your Radwood vid-very nice work yourself. And of course you have a mighty fine collection of rad Acuras. Maybe you and a few friends could get your whole Acura collection to the next Radwood!
So cool. Wish I lived within a few hours of Radwood. East Coast to Cali might be a bit of a killer on my 80s cars. Or a great video series opportunity... hmmmnnn
I’m actually a bit envious of those people that either held on to their first car, or got another one when they could actually appreciate it and enjoy the nostalgia, you couldn’t *PAY* me to take my first “car” again, ‘88 ford escort Pony, it was an utter piece of shit... Now my *second* car? I’d love to find another, a ‘92 Dodge Shadow America in Fire Red, 2 door notchback with 5 speed manual, I loved that little wedge!
I'm planning on doing the same. I'm just finishing up my radwood video tonight, and I think some interviews would have broken it up a little bit - I focused more on the cars, though. And I need to improve my b-roll game.
The interior is a perfect mimic of mom’s old dearly departed Corolla FX (base model, not the FX-16) the hatchback version of the Corolla, and the FX series was also made in the NUUMI plant
my first car was a 86 Honda Civic si hatchback or for those Honda geeks e-at and it had the rare zc engine..I loved my lil Honda it was white had some ol school enkie rims I think 16"×7..cold air intake and a ultra rare Mugen headers to a 2 1/2 or 3" exhaust..that lil fucker dipped..I plan 0n getting one of those again or a Mitsubishi station...love your channel..you should do some minor upgrades to some of your cars and film it and inform us how it performs..nothing big or fancy just some affordable upgrades
I had my turbo Sprint 93-2010. Great little car. Parts were getting scarce, and I already had/have my 92 16v GTI, so I Sold it. It was a sad day, but it was time.
Dang if you ever change your mind hit me up.i want that car bad. I had a blue 87 standard trans back in 2001 I loved that car an always wanted the twin cam one.id take any year 80s nova at this point.
Thanks dood! Glad you enjoyed this episode. A couple tracks in the video are mine! The rest are courtesy of the super-useful RUclips music library. :) Prius vs Nova! Great idea. Might have to do that!!!
No matter the actual result, the Nova TC would easily win, it’s cool, nostalgic, and actually historic (NUUMI plant), where’s the Prius is just a Prius, a soulless, mass produced, pathetic transportation appliance, nothing more Prius sucks!
I'm pretty sure the Slingshot was a top secret marketing ploy by Pontiac to ensure that the Aztek wasn't the stupidest looking car in history. Also, I would never have expected that Nova to be a stick, rad indeed!
The Nova is essentially a restyled and rebadged Japanese market Toyota Sprinter, which itself is a rebadged Toyota Corolla. The Twin Cam model features the 4AGE motor from the Corolla FX-16.
Wow that looks like fun! It looks like cool people too! You are living the dream!
Ethan, love your stuff
Thanks so much!!! :) :)
That Gaviota Tunnel entrance tho! 🔥

Your buddy with the slingshot just needs to buy a motorcycle. He's getting half the experience. :D
:) He was cruising around on a motorcycle just last week. The Slingshot is certainly not a motorcycle, but a unique experience of it's own!
I ride a lot of motorcycles and drive a lot of cars throughout the year, so this is a nice mix of both worlds.
So you do get the whole experience :)
Indeed, I do. :)
I got (getting) a 1987 nova hatchback with the base engine. It's super clean and two tone!
Awesome!! Would love to see it!

Fantastic video, love the VHS effects and the clothes and the music... Great stuff.
Thanks so much!! Glad you enjoyed it :) :) :)

Thanks man. Let's embark on another epic journey soon.
Done deal, m8.

So cool. Wish I lived within a few hours of Radwood. East Coast to Cali might be a bit of a killer on my 80s cars. Or a great video series opportunity... hmmmnnn
Next Radwood is in Philly in a few weeks. They're also planning New Jersey sometime next year I think. Or make a road trip!!!

great video - love the use of b-roll. And the sad robot sidekick headrest. Hope to get more interview footage at the next radwood.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! I'll do my best to do a few more interviews at the next Radwood!! :) :) :)

I'm looking forward to checking it out!!
The Nova twin cam looks like a 80s Toyota Corolla
Yep, it is closely related. The Nova is a US built rebadge of the JDM Toyota Sprinter, which itself is based on a Corolla.
The interior is a perfect mimic of mom’s old dearly departed Corolla FX (base model, not the FX-16) the hatchback version of the Corolla, and the FX series was also made in the NUUMI plant
3:30 the gas station looks like it's from the same time decade as the Nova
It was super old school!!
Hey man!! I about to get my first car tomorrow and guess what? ITS A 88 NOVA !!
Awesome!!!! 😀😃😄

Dude sell me your nova please!!!!
I would take the nova over every other ride there dude!
Sorry man, not for sale! :)
Dang if you ever change your mind hit me up.i want that car bad.
I had a blue 87 standard trans back in 2001 I loved that car an always wanted the twin cam one.id take any year 80s nova at this point.
Hello Road / Ethan Tufts it does make me happy that you own the car and know what you own.i appreciate that.its a dope car.
Hey my dude, where did u get that sick AF windbreaker. I would rock that every day.
This fine article of wind breaking radness came courtesy of eBay!
Awesome again. Did you write all the 80's synth funk?
Also, idea for an episode. Race the Nova against a Prius. :)
Thanks dood! Glad you enjoyed this episode. A couple tracks in the video are mine! The rest are courtesy of the super-useful RUclips music library. :) Prius vs Nova! Great idea. Might have to do that!!!

Prius sucks!
Sweet video! I was in the white volvo wagon in front of you in the parade lap, let me know if you have any more footage of that rolling road block :P
Thanks dood! Lovely Volvo! I don't think we have that much more footage of the parade laps but I will look. 😀
Where did you get those rad 80s sunglasses? Those are rad.
I tried like heck to locate a period correct pair of Oakleys but they were all way too pricey! Ended up finding these on Amazon.
TIME >> 4:05 into the video... Is that a cherry bomb on that Nova I see???
Yep! Previous owner put it on. :)
I'm pretty sure the Slingshot was a top secret marketing ploy by Pontiac to ensure that the Aztek wasn't the stupidest looking car in history. Also, I would never have expected that Nova to be a stick, rad indeed!
Bellicimo biutifull cars
What are those glasses? I need them!!!
I found these sweet shades at Amazon. I think the brand is "Tipsy Elves". :) :)
Hello Road sweet man, thanks!!
Do you still own the 88 Nova twin cam?
Yep, still have it and drive it all the time!!
0:07 thats how I roll in the shower. Shit I didnt know there was a show up in Sonoma I need to get my Esprit running.
Esprit? Whaaaa??
Did the nova share the same body style as the Isuzu I mark of the time?
No-that would be the Chevy Spectrum. It does look pretty similar though!
The Nova is essentially a restyled and rebadged Japanese market Toyota Sprinter, which itself is a rebadged Toyota Corolla. The Twin Cam model features the 4AGE motor from the Corolla FX-16.
