@@ichrisho I kind of took it as a whole; the ranking system is pretty arbitrary. More like "30 amazing games in no particular order". HZD ranking so much higher than Elden Ring was a travesty, but you never know. It seems the top of the list was exclusive-heavy so maybe people just didn't give much weight to multi-console releases.
Gran Turismo 2 was brilliant. Playing it split screen with your friends and family is something I won't forget. Those days are gone now. My favourite part was going to the used car sell to find a bargain, then customise it for the races while learning about car components in a video game!
I think there is certainly a case to answer for recency bias. Yes Astrobot is a fantastic game, but better than iconic games like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot or Ratchet and Clank? No Gran Turismo on the list at all? No Tomb Raider? No Silent Hill? No Resistance? No Killzone? And as good as FF7 is from a nostalgia point of view and it's impact on gaming as a whole, the two remakes are far better games.
I do think astro bot is better then spyro crash and ratchet and I love all 3 of those. But Astro has somehow managed to get best of all them while leaving their most annoying and frustrating elements out. Crash could be really frustrating in mendatory levels. Spyro could be a little one note as Spyro mostly had the same controls for most worlds and Ratchet is more of an action shooter by the later games then a platformer. Which is fine. I love the new ratchet game. But Astro just feels like a master of its genre. Opinions of course. I will say its a bit unfair to say it must be recency bias when the opposide can be said for old games when it comes to nostalgia bias.
@@TheBake1986 What argument, I said as good as the old game was the new ones are just better. I don't see what is better with Astrobot over say Crash Bandicoot. Astrobot is still at heart just a basic platformer with better graphics. FF7 remake is so much more than the original on all levels. Totally different comparisons.
I'd say Crash 2, Ratchet & Clank 2 and Spyro 1 are the best of their respected series but honestly Astrobot is the best platformer playstation have made. I agree about the FF7 remake, I'm playing the 1st remake after playing the original game 2 years ago... Despite being more action oriented, it's better at being tactical combat wise and also does not sideline characters, fleshes each character out and expands upon past dungeons making it more satisfying to explore more. My personal list would have featured less story games like god of war 4 or RDR2 just cause I've always seen gameplay as king and to me there are better games in their own series that do gameplay better.
Seeing Crash, Ratchet and FF8 not even make the list just shows how incredibly strong PlayStation really is. Gods i’m so happy I live at a time when video games exist.
I think that’s down to how each FF entry does quite a lot different from the previous one in the franchise. It’s why you see the fan base so fractured and often arguing with each other which ones are crap, or betrayals of the previous entries. Also, each generation discovers the latest FF for themselves as their first, and it becomes their all time favorite. Not to mention that from roughly FF6-10 Square were banging out hit after hit. Those classic FF deserve their place on the list as much as any game.
@@makasete30 I'm not talking about the different FFs. I'm talking about FF7 only. The OG, Remake, Rebirth and there was one other FF7 in there. Like com'on. Don't need them all in there. The OG is the best one and should be the only one on the list.
Genuinely surprised at some of the rankings here, and there are a couple of series I wish had made the list (DMC, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Jak & Daxter, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame), but I have no complaints on the whole. PlayStation has had its ups and downs, but on this we can all agree: gaming was changed forever by the Little Grey Box That Could. Nintendo’s betrayal was all of our gains, ultimately including theirs.
Of course it is. It's voted on by people who actually play and love PS.. Who have actually played tons of games. Not some board of people at IGN, while I'm sure have played games, always seems like more their job alone now at times. =/ which isn't a good way to view games.
@@brucewayne404 I agree with your sentiment, people hate IGN just to hate IGN, but I assure you my comment was genuine and sincere. I can't speak for all the replies though, naturally.
God of War 3 should have been somewhere on the list. The game was legendary. The epic scale of the game was perfectly demonstrated when you were climbing on the titan Chronos
Great list, some of my favorites Elden Ring, FFVII (and the remakes), Red Dead Redemption 2(yes Rockstars greatest, at least for now), Blood Borne(personal favorite).
I really enjoyed the last of us back in 2013 and couldnt wait for the sequel. However all the remakes, remasters and disappointing sequel kind of ruined that memory of it being a great game for some reason.
My brother and I grew up playing Final Fantasy 7, Soul Blade, Metal Gear solid, Micro-Machines and Gran Turismo. We still reminisce and talk about it today. We were very lucky to be so blessed with such an array of great games.
Rob & Playstation Access team, the script of this video is just absolutely fantastic. Number 1 evoked goosebumps everytime I play the masterpiece. I love this list and tribute :)

As someone that has been around since the PlayStation launched, I want to say that my genuine highlight of the last 30 years has been PlayStation Access. As much as I have loved playing every console generation, and every first party title, nothing has given me as much joy as seeing Dave and Nath battle it out in one on onesie or Rob’s Friday features. You may not have been going for 30 years, but you are my highlight and I can’t thank you enough for all the content you have given us. PlayStation would not be the same to me without you. Thank you.

@@Adamantaimai I didn't like remake that much. It had some fantastic sections but they were few and far between and it felt like far too much of the game was running around massively overstretched and samey sewers, industrial catwalks, train graveyards etc engaged in endless battles, where these sections were much shorter interludes in the original. Rebirth solved all that, the open world was far more engaging and there was so much more meaningful content and gameplay that wasn't just combat, it felt much closer to evoking the feeling of the original game for more of the time for me.
Personally, Bioshock would easily make my top 10, never mind top 30... Also, not a huge COD fan but I always remember when I first played Modern Warfare 2, I think it has a place on that list, for sure.
Great list! I would personally remove Kingdom hearts 2, Horizon zero dawn, Astrobot, FF7 remake and added Gran Turismo 2, Dark Souls 1, Silent hill 2 and Crash Bandicoot Warped
I'm so glad TLOU got the top spot. I'm the sort of gamer who goes back and forth switching games constantly. But this was a game that kept me playing from beginning to end and never got boring. With one of the greatest storylines I've ever seen and some of the best gameplay I've ever experienced.
Since I’ve been looking at this ranking, I couldn’t find my favorite game at all, and when it was getting close to the top 5, I said it definitely deserves to be in the top 5. But when I saw it at number one, I was super happy! 🎉🤩😍
Little big planet deserves a spot as does gran turismo 3, motorstorm, resistance, It's very modern squewed most of these games are on PS4 onwards. There are a couple of ps1 and PS2 classics here but they are few and far between. God of war 3 is also noticeably absent. But final fantasy does deserve to be here too. Although ff7 getting 3 spots, while deserved it's 10% of the list. Then there is ffx and 9 on here as well.
When I got myself the Last of us, it was a cold winter season (it existed in 2013). So I went on a week holiday from work, turned my room into a dark cave and played it. On of the best memories of my whole life.
Interesting list - I can't help but feel Abe's Odyssee, one of the Crash games, one of the Spyro games, one of the Tomb Raider games, one of the Wipeout games, one of the THPS games and one of the Worms games should be in there.
Maybe it speaks to the age of the people who voted? I'd definitely have Wipeout 2097, Tomb Raider and either Gran Turismo 1 or A:Spec in there, but sadly I am 42 🤣
The Last of Us is one of those games that will forever stand the test of time. Originally when I first picked it up I made it through the intro, and put the game down for over a year because I wasn’t ready for such an emotional journey. 2 years prior to its release, I lost the love of my life to suicide, and it was just too hard to play TLOU with something like that still so fresh in my mind. Little did I know it would sink its claws into me when I finally picked it back up only for it to soar to the top of my all-time favorite games. Never, EVER has a video game produced so much raw emotion to the point where I felt like a blubbering baby because it had me tearing up so much. Naughty Dog did such a great job with every little detail, but the thing that struck me the most was how invested I felt with every last character. Every. Last. One of them. Honestly don’t think we’ll ever get another game like it story wise that hits as hard as it did. Absolute 11/10 masterpiece!
I think people need to realize that the community loves games like MGS and RPGs, much like Rob and Rosie. There's a reason why people love Rob especially so much I think. He is great at talking but he also loves the same games as the community overall clearly. Which happens.
The top 3 was legit, though I feel like 1 could’ve been 3, and 1st and 2nd place could respectfully be FFVII and God of War. But I’m splitting hairs and it’s all very debatable, which means you got the top 3 correct my friend. My fondest memories were with FFVII where my little brother and I would literally skip school to marathon play 8 hours, fully engulfed in the rich storyline. 8 hours never felt so short in my entire life! I’m convinced FFVII was an accidental Time Machine.😆😆
I have to give a shout-out to some of my favorite games that did not make this list. Portal 2- I had never played a puzzle game so funny and satisfying before this title. Brave Fencer Musashi- Maybe it's childhood nostalgia, but I feel this game was highly slept on. I remember it to be adequately challenging for a game rated E. I would also love a re-release with a trophy for using shishkabob on the Vambees. It was basically the only way to keep them from grabbing you Chrono Cross- from the first time I saw the opening cinematic on demo disc, I begged my parents for this game. Having played it again recently with adult level skills of mastering the combat system for the turn based rpg, I still love it just as much as I did as a child. The multitude of possible ends is also a bonus for replay
Turned my PlayStation 5 on this morning while checking emails and i heard a very familiar PlayStation 1 sound . Thanks to Sony for taking me back in time hearing that sound brings back memories.
I still remember getting my PS1 when I was in the 5th grade. My birthday is a few days before Christmas so I usually only got one gift but it was a big gift. I asked for a PlayStation and Crash Bandicoot and my parents lied to me, they said there weren’t any PlayStations in stock anywhere but on that day before leaving for school my Mom and Dad surprised with exactly what I asked for plus Crash Bandicoot 2 as well. My brother and I played the hell out of those games. That was one hell of a Christmas break.
My god, how are Metal Gear Solid 3, Elden Ring, Shadow of the Colossus and Resident Evil 4, some of the best games ever made, not only on PS consoles, so low in this list??? They're easily top 20 goat material. Also, kind of hard to fathom someone -- ANYONE -- would consider FF VII Remake better than FFIX... And SPIDER-MAN better than the aforementioned greats.
Holy smokes, even just looking at the brief flash of Midgar on the screen gave me chills up my spine. I really need to replay the original. The new one is great, but it's more of a love letter to the world of FF7 than an actual remake.
Tomb Raider 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, ICO, Sekiro, Final Fantasy VIII, Jak and Daxter, Gran Turismo, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Suikoden, Legend of Dragoon, Ōkami, Journey, Bioshock and GTA Vice City are some of my favourites.
If I could add one game to the list it would be Nier: Automata. I just adored everything about it. The setting, characters, storytelling and music are all incredible.
The simple fact that GTA San Andreas is 30th on the list, shows you how great the games of Playstation have been over the past 30 years. Not to mention all the franchises NOT listed on this countdown. Its been an amazing run since I first got my original Playstation way back in Christmas of 1995. Here's to another 30!! Cheers from America!!
I FULLY expected 3 and 4 to be 1 and 2. A lot of these games wouldn't make my personal list (some I loudly described with expletives when they appeared on the list) but I can see why they're all there. Widely loved, mass appeal games. Surprisingly varied through genres as well for the most part. Rosie must be a little upset that there's no Yakuza in there! I missed the post with the polling, but would have been voting Bloodborne and Final Fantasy X as my favourites. Also, and I am not joking, Power Wash Simulator. Amazing.
Tough I agree with number 1, i was shockingly surprised about number 30, 29 and 28. A couple of years ago those 3 games were on top of any "best playstation games" list.
Story Street has a fantastic video on Uncharted 4 and, replaying it after seeing it, I definitely learned to appreciate it more. Maybe it was the video or maybe I just needed to get older a bit to relate to Nate more.

Gran Turismo 2 was brilliant. Playing it split screen with your friends and family is something I won't forget. Those days are gone now. My favourite part was going to the used car sell to find a bargain, then customise it for the races while learning about car components in a video game!
Votes were probably split between the many excellent versions. GT7 VR would've got my vote.
No Crash, Spyro, Sly, Infamous, Jak, Ratchet and Gran Turismo is wild
I think there is certainly a case to answer for recency bias. Yes Astrobot is a fantastic game, but better than iconic games like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot or Ratchet and Clank?
No Gran Turismo on the list at all?
No Tomb Raider?
No Silent Hill?
No Resistance?
No Killzone?
And as good as FF7 is from a nostalgia point of view and it's impact on gaming as a whole, the two remakes are far better games.
I would use your FF7 argument for why Astrobot is on the list ahead of Crash
I was kinda expecting Rachet & Clank to make an appearance.
Seeing Crash, Ratchet and FF8 not even make the list just shows how incredibly strong PlayStation really is.
Gods i’m so happy I live at a time when video games exist.
@@Oddskin_the_Hogg The Sony catalogue is truly an insane, wonderful labyrinth.
There are a few cross-platform titles here, in place of actual Playstation franchises, shame.
@@mrpositronia I mean it’s only a bit fun but yes.
Such a solid list! I would’ve changed the order of a few, but overall such an impressive collection of games!
Pretty good list. I don't think we need 4 FF7s in there and could have put Crash and Tomb Raider in there instead but otherwise a pretty good list.
@@DN_13 that wasn't a 4th FF7, that was Kingdom Hearts 2 where Cloud is involved.
I love the positive energy flowing through this video.
Pour one out for Gran Truismo 7 😔
I know it's 30 compared to 100, but my word this list is SO much better than IGN's lol.
Of course it is. It's voted on by people who actually play and love PS.. Who have actually played tons of games. Not some board of people at IGN, while I'm sure have played games, always seems like more their job alone now at times. =/ which isn't a good way to view games.
because it was voted for purely by the community
If IGN's list was exactly the same as this one people still would've complained.
@@brucewayne404 I agree with your sentiment, people hate IGN just to hate IGN, but I assure you my comment was genuine and sincere.
I can't speak for all the replies though, naturally.
@@brucewayne404 Gamers love to complain all the time. It's a top N list across generations, everyone's list is bound to be different
God of War 3 should have been somewhere on the list. The game was legendary. The epic scale of the game was perfectly demonstrated when you were climbing on the titan Chronos
nice list, i personally really loved final fantasy 8, crash and spyro
Great list, some of my favorites Elden Ring, FFVII (and the remakes), Red Dead Redemption 2(yes Rockstars greatest, at least for now), Blood Borne(personal favorite).
I really enjoyed the last of us back in 2013 and couldnt wait for the sequel. However all the remakes, remasters and disappointing sequel kind of ruined that memory of it being a great game for some reason.
Cool list
1- Bloodborne
2 - Castlevania Symphony of the Night
3 - God of war
4 - Horizon Zero Dawn
My brother and I grew up playing Final Fantasy 7, Soul Blade, Metal Gear solid, Micro-Machines and Gran Turismo. We still reminisce and talk about it today. We were very lucky to be so blessed with such an array of great games.
Rob & Playstation Access team, the script of this video is just absolutely fantastic. Number 1 evoked goosebumps everytime I play the masterpiece. I love this list and tribute :)
NUMBER 1 THE LAST OF US 😢❤🎉
BTW I would pay top dollar to see everyone from Playstation Access sit down, discuss, argue, and make a Top 30 of their own. Just saying....
So many memories right there.
Excellent run down Rob your a gem
Vice City and GTA 3 walked so SA could run. Those two not getting recognition is criminal
Personally I prefer Vice City over any other GTA game so to see it not here is gutting!
@ My point exactly! VC was an important game for so many people and the industry in general. I’m not mad for seeing SA on here, but damn give the others some love
Thank you.
So many great games. Was hoping to see Soul Reaver in the list
My Top Five PS1:
1. FF VII
2. MGS
3. Gran Turismo 2
4. Suikoden 2
5. Syndicate Wars
PS2:
1. San Andreas
2. Shadow of the Colossus
3. Gran Turismo 4
4. Final Fantasy X
5. MGS 2
PS3:
1. LittleBigPlanet
2. Uncharted 2
3. GTA V
4. GTA IV
5. Assassin's Creed Black Flag
PS4:
1. Witcher 3
2. Persona 5
3. Uncharted 4
4. Red Dead Redemption 2
5. Ghost of Tsushima
PS5:
1. FF VII Rebirth
2. Spiderman 2
3. Gran Turismo 7
4. Cyberpunk
5. Horizon Forbidden West
Interesting you have ff7 and rebirth first place but no remake in the top 5.
How did Mass effect not make this list, that's wild
Personally, Bioshock would easily make my top 10, never mind top 30... Also, not a huge COD fan but I always remember when I first played Modern Warfare 2, I think it has a place on that list, for sure.
no tomb raider , no gran turismo , no crash .. are people mental !
FF7, BG3, Bloodborne, GTA SA, GT3
Can we now have a playstation access favourite top 30 👍🏻
Not mentioning any of the Gran Turismo games feels weird.
Glad that FFVII is so high. Absolutely agree that LOU is number 1
Bloodborne 100% deserves the top spot
I play the game that took number 1 at least once every year so i'm glad it took the number 1 spot. An absolute gem of a game. What a game!
Since I’ve been looking at this ranking, I couldn’t find my favorite game at all, and when it was getting close to the top 5, I said it definitely deserves to be in the top 5. But when I saw it at number one, I was super happy! 🎉🤩😍
Bring back Sarah
Metal Gear Solid had the biggest impact…but I think my top-dawg PlayStation game would have to be none other than the great Def Jam FFNY.
@MyManJFKTV great game. I really wish we could get a new Def jam, but Icon was so bad it just killed the franchise
@@ReproBates - I still have nightmares about Icon.
30 years of nostalgia. ❤
So LittleBigPlanet and Crash didn’t get a spot but Final Fantasy got several?🤨
I mean, it’s final fantasy. The franchise deserves the ranking and is still releasing games.
LBP2 would be in my top ten for sure but FF is a tour de force and people love it. Not surprised it got the popular vote.
Little big planet deserves a spot as does gran turismo 3, motorstorm, resistance,
It's very modern squewed most of these games are on PS4 onwards.
Because like it or not, Final Fantasy is much bigger than both of those IPs combined.
Behave 😂😂😂😂 of course they did. They’re they’re the greatest RPG series ever.
I didn't see when the voting for this happened, but God of War & God of War Ragnarok are both the best games Playstation have ever produced.
How did Batman not make the list??!!
Shadow of the colossus is the greatest, and you'll never change my mind.
Congrats Playstation. Here's to 30 more!
Somehow missed a crash or spyro title, I don't believe it honestly.
@@JoeyyyBoyyy Rosie clearly wasn't consulted 🤣
I think people need to realize that the community loves games like MGS and RPGs, much like Rob and Rosie. There's a reason why people love Rob especially so much I think. He is great at talking but he also loves the same games as the community overall clearly. Which happens.
@@CrazeeAdam Tell me more about what we need to do, Adam.
I wish I could be surprised about number one but the world has been obsessed with the last of us since it released over 10 years ago
It was basically the only way to keep them from grabbing you
Chrono Cross- from the first time I saw the opening cinematic on demo disc, I begged my parents for this game. Having played it again recently with adult level skills of mastering the combat system for the turn based rpg, I still love it just as much as I did as a child. The multitude of possible ends is also a bonus for replay
I'm just happy to see FF9, my favorite, making the list
Turned my PlayStation 5 on this morning while checking emails and i heard a very familiar PlayStation 1 sound . Thanks to Sony for taking me back in time hearing that sound brings back memories.
I’m sorry but where is little big planet?!
correction: GTA V on 3 generations.
TIME STAMPS !?
Agree with this list a lot more than IGN’s top 100 list
Great list! I would give a couple honorable mentions to Sly Cooper, Parasite, Eve, Soul Reaver, and Silent Hill
Great list. Not always my favorites obviously but each game here has merit to be here.
Great list. Great games. Such amazing times. Game on gamers. Be good to each other out there.
No Legend of Dragoon, I'm a bit saddened.
Amazing.
Seriously, no gran turismo, that game revolutionized racing games
I'm disappointed in you all. Where is The Legend of Dragoon.
I know, but i’m sure 99% of this community never even heard of that game.
My top ten for what it's worth
Ff7
Last of us
Uncharted 4
Ff7 rebirth
Uncharted 2
Red dead redemption
Spiderman
Tomb raider (original)
Metal gear solid
Skyrim
Honorable mentions assassin's creed black flag, ratchet and clank, oblivion and ff12
Not gonna lie, i was expecting mostly the classic ps1 and ps2 games. Great list all in all.
