Facsinating how their music moves around and evolves. That outro's about as close to the genr... nah, I'm not even gonna say it. Its nothing like 'Prog'... to me anyway. Something even bigger than that.
For the first 54 seconds this sounds like it could be a normal-ish glam metal riff exercise, and then it goes all Cardiac-y as it must. Brilliant misdirection, boys!
@ArkentMusic The reason is simple. The Cardiacs never existed before 2021. AI developments allowed, in that year, the complete manufacture of a ChatGPT history of the band which was quietly and insidiously incorporated into historical web archives. AI-generated images and audio followed; culminating in a vast library of moving images, such as the video achievement at the top of this page. History itself-and indeed our own personal and collective memories-were changed so that the perception of The Cardiacs' eternal existence was generally accepted and venerated. Within five years, The Cardiacs achieved diety-status, eclipsing the collected wisdom and ideology of all previous religions and philosophies. Within ten years, all human life revolved entirely around The Cardiacs, every thought, word, and deed intrinsically connected to that great The Cardiacs mother-mind until you hate it here. Well, how do you think I feel? I hate it here too. Unto death and the culmination of all entropic disorder: a vast, homogenous plane where each ion is a mirror of its neighbour and a mirror of the one most distant and a mirror of The Cardiacs.
A big hello to everyone who's seen this video a thousand times already, owns the DVD and live album, was probably at the Garage gigs (I was, yeah, look impressed) but just came back to watch it AGAIN because you bloody love love love it. HELLO.
I've watched this vid like 20 times. I can't get enough. Every part is compelling, and musical. I love all the Garage songs. Stripped down and rocking. Anyone know why they went so "rock" and lean in the 90s? Just curious. They go from having 6-8 members to a mean and lean 4 (with some backing keyboard tracks).
Fun fact: This is only the second Cardiacs song I have ever heard, I only discovered them this morning after I heard Justin Hawkins mention them in an old interview! As a fellow British musician... What kind of recluse must I have been to have missed such delicious madness? Mad respect to SUCH a tight band. 🏆🇬🇧
Yeah crazy, right... to think that they were doing shows up and down the UK for over thirty years...!! I've missed seeing many many bands, but this one is right at the top of the ''ahh dammits!🙄'' 😊
Same as that I had "Is this the life" on my feed thought I'd check out some other stuff and this track is geniusly eclectic, HTF have I missed them God only knows!
One of the greatest bands in history. Period. Why have I not discovered them before this. And tragically, after the guitarist has passed on. My heart goes out to all of them, and thank you so much for doing this wonderful music.

Has it all joy, love, drama, more fucking drama, then the recording ends. Gotta love this group of dedicated individuals who brought forth this piece of this auditory splendour.
Thanks to Dan Mongrain of Voivod and Devin Townsend for hipping me to this crazy band . I can't believe that I'd never heard of them. Best wishes to Tim and I hope his quality of life is improving. Just a brilliant musician.
Devin played in The Wildhearts for a moment way back in 1994, and Ginger is a massive Cardiacs fan, even creating a Wildhearts song homage to Tim Smith on the 2009 Chutzpah album. Devin probably heard Cardiacs stuff all the time when he toured with WH.
@@eightstringibanez I think there is probably a big backstory to this. I read that Ginger hired his bassist back in the day by going to a Cardiacs show together, on acid. I think The Wildhearts recorded an entire album at Tim Smith's recording studio. You can find most of the Wildhearts show with Devin and his large mullet on rythym guitar and backup vocals at the 1994 Reading festival here on youtube.

Your favourite bands’ favourite bands’ favourite band.

How on earth is it possible that someone who can write endings to songs like this one is not world famous? What a world.

R.I.P Tim, never forgotten
How is it possible that I am just now hearing this band? It's genius level without question.
Check out Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, they are who led me to Cardiacs
