Just listening to this song for the first time in years. Tears. I cannot believe that this is live. Amazing. The absolute beauty of the vocals, guitar, everything, are all unparalleled. And I just discovered that the sole lyricist was Chris Squire. RIP Chris and thank you so very much for all the years of amazing music that I grew up with.

A deeply touching song. Brought tears today as it did back in 78. Each member put something special into Chris's creation. And I know he was writing this for his wife back at home while on one of those long tours of which you miss that special someone. But I think all of the others in the band felt the same being away from their dear one. The concert tours were exciting. The fan support so invigorating. But it can get lonely even amidst the thousands and thousands when that soul mate is so far away. Thank you, Chris. And RIP.
I Dedicate this song to all my friends who have passed on. there memories will always live on in my heart .Rest in Peace .Miss you.Godbless you 🙏🕊🕊🕊🕊🦋🦋🦋🦋🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈☯️☮️✌🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌻🌻🌻🌻.Amen.🙏❤🕊.
ONWARD. One of the sweetest songs ever wrote by this band..they are all awesome musicians..and probably the best in the world..what a guitarist Steven Howe..the best in the world..as all the members. There music will last forever in the world..
Such a beautiful song Yes has been in my life since the beginning im so blessed i could turn my kids+ now 3 grandkids on to 1 of my absolute favorite group's of my generation . Long Live Yes
This song never fails to make me weep. There's a show where as the song is ending Chris walks over and puts his arm around Jon's shoulders, Makes me feel like my parents have died. What you think is Jon's voice is Jon and Chris in supernaturally pure harmony, as they often were.
They’re all geniuses! The greatest musicians to ever Grace a stage! They could do it all and weren’t afraid to show it! Rest In Peace Chris 🙏 you will be missed 💜
On the Keys to Ascension dvd concert, after they finish the extended version of ONWARD you can see Jon was moved by the song and went over and gave Chris a hug.
@@gannonb4u you may be right. In a closeup bootleg video of "Onward,", it appears that Chris was the one who turned first to come hug Jon, and Jon immediately followed suit. But whoever was actually first, it is clear that they both had the same thought. It brought tears to my eyes, thinking of all they had gone through in the past. . . and now were back together (though not permanently, alas). I found the whole concert emotional for this reason, this coming together of the "classic lineup" after so many years. Check out the various bootlegs for different vantage points, though the crowd noise is sometimes an annoyance. Certain folks would evidently rather hear their own voices than bask in the music.
Mother just moved onward through the night and light of her life. You will be missed. Its not the years in your life that mattered, but the life you had in your years.
On learning of Chris Squire's passing I was SO SAD & felt a part of me had also passed, grand composer, innovative bassist & highly underrated vocalist. This is one of the most beautiful, earth-moving yet celestial songs ever written, a true gift and blessing. Began a painting the same day with the song's title. He will always be prominent in my Pantheon !
This is the song that gives me great hope that our departed friend Chris knew our Lord, , thank you for all the years of amazing songs, bass playing and singing my friend, , continue on in great joy in the life you now have awoken to.
When I still attempted romance (when I was younger), Especially Loved this beautiful piece (still enjoy the work of Yes in doing this - THANKS JON, RICK, STEVE (& RIP fro CHRIS & ALAN ! for this beauty
Thanks Jon & the Band for a beautiful piece of Musical Grace in an o/w very ugly world; Enjoyed this more when I still believed in "romance" (though I no longer do - I still do love this piece. . . . .)
To Each their own, for me no heaven but heaven on earth: these guys of Yes , and co-founder and amazing bassplayer Chris Squire made my heaven on earth. In many times and many ways it was Yes and therefore Chris Squire who participated, by their music, in my choices for a musician's career. I Greeve!
I was supposed to marry the love of my life on the 19th of May 2018, and I chose this song to be played while we both walked the aisle towards the altar. My fiancé, African American dressed in white and I, light skin hispano, dressed in black representing one completing the other Ying Yang ☯️. But God had other plans now my fiancé no longer with us is looking at us from above
This is achingly beautiful as I think about and feel the presence of my deceased father. Thank you so much for sharing this unique pairing of music and visual art. It has touched me deeply.
Y ESTO LO COMPUSO EL SEÑOR CHRIS SQUIRE, BELLEZA TOTAL. TODA LA VIDA VOY A ESCUCHAR TU MÚSICA. ALGUNA VEZ LEÍ QUE CUANDO UNO TERMINA UN LIBRO, ÉSTE SE ESCONDE DENTRO DE UNO, SIN DUDAS, TU MÚSICA NO SE ESCONDIÓ EN MÍ, YO ESTOY HECHO DE ELLA, YA ES PARTE MÍA, ES PARTE DE MI ADN, COMO LA DE CADA UNO DE LOS INTEGRANTES DE YES. SOLO ME QUEDA SEGUIR EMOCIONÁNDOME, DISFRUTANDO Y AGRADECIENDO. HASTA SIEMPRE CHRIS.
Onward was our prossessional in our Wedding Ed & Cheryle Arnsberger 11/19/11 😇Thank You Christopher Edward Russell Squire.Enjoy Heaven. It was arranged on piano.Beautiful.The Onward version was from Keys to Ascension. It was a song by YES in our Church. How Wonderful !!!!! We are of Lutheran Faith.
Ed Arnsberger Congrats to you Both, ONWARD and all The Beautiful Art Work And The Awesome Music. Going for the one, Was my First Album. The Rest was History, My total number of Albums WAS 16!! RUclips is Unreal, I'm Seeing More. YES VIDEOS That I never Saw It's Amazing. That is Pure Heaven👼👼🦄🦋
In the past 45 years I have seen YES perform live at least a dozen times. I was at the May 2004 NY Madison Square Garden 35th Anniversary Concert and at the end of the show Jon Anderson invited his spiritual teacher Divine Mother Audrey Kitagawa on stage for a prayer. “You are a perfect child of God. Immortal, eternal, and already in God’s light.” It was an extraordinary moment
There was a feature film which used this song, played by a single guitarist during the contemplative transitional point in the movie. It was so appropriate for that segment of the story. It also showed someone knowing a wide range of music to come up with this selection.. Makes one, ( a Yes fan) not feel so alone because of his interests in progressive rock music when his other friends were into the typical rock groups.
I like the Yes since 1973. I was 14 years old. And now I can't imagine my life without
the music of Yes!
I was 18 y.o. back in the day.Ohh that was my first listening experience by the YES. SZEP VOLT.
Many people of my age (63) never ever heard of Yes.....what a shame. Their great music has and is a blessing in my life.
I was 14 years old when I fell in love with Yes music, too but in 1980 with Drama album
Nagyon fasza
I'm right there with you.... I couldnt imagine my life without YES. They make me feel different than any other music I listen to.
Absolutely moved to tears by this, first time I've heard it, have loved the studio version for 26 years when I discovered it
Josephine wall love your art beautiful.absolutely beautiful😘👍👍👍👍💖💖💖💖👍.Rest In Peace christer Godbless you Amen 🙏🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🌻🦋🙏

Words cannot describe the beauty of this piece of music
My funeral song - dedicated to my wife. Two buddies do a nice job on it so the goal is for them to love longer than me.
We chose this song for our wedding. It was magical and forever loved.. Cheryle and Edward..

Close to the Edge 😊
If exists heaven in heart, then is Yes... Then is 'Onward'. Extaordinary, beautiful song. Only tears can fully express this beauty.
Still one of my favourite Yes songs. The live version brings so much richness to it. Beautiful artwork.
Such a song, touching and emotional. RIP Chris you will be forever missed.
They’re all geniuses! The greatest musicians to ever Grace a stage! They could do it all and weren’t afraid to show it! Rest In Peace Chris 🙏 you will be missed 💜

Mother just moved onward through the night and light of her life. You will be missed. Its not the years in your life that mattered, but the life you had in your years.

Just one of the most beautiful lyrical songs of love 😇
