As an old schooler metalhead/rocker fan,,and an educated one, all I can say that, to me, WATAIN is the best metal band (be it black, thrash,death, glam, whatever) to come down the pike in....in over 25 years. Not since Metallica's "Master" album and Justice Tour,..throw in (to me a much better band from that era) Testament and of cours...there is not one since that era to come out that can touch Watain on so many levels. The respect they have for the stage, their Temple, is refreshing. It is almost impossible for a band to become truly iconic since the mid-late 90's, but Watain has done that. And for those who speak of the black metal old ways..well this band has always given their respect to the forefathers and as a Venom fan and what not back in the day....those people just don't matter and should be ignored. A sincere thank you to Mayhem, thank you for missing some shows in the States because Watain played much longer because it was REAL. Thank you Watain for giving me great music and a stage show, do it like the 80's and fuck you to all the bands that think you can show up with just amps and think I am going to be entertained, only Chuck could do that.. It is the KISS fan in me, I like to see a show. KISS, Dio, Iron Maiden all the greats gave a show, big stage like Venom as well. So many bands in the past 25 years get up on a huge stage and they look lost, it is too big for them, not these cats

I was really hoping to come home from Wacken and watch this and relive the moment when they played the Somberlain. Easily my highlight of Wacken.
