The real big 4 Thrash imo Slayer Exodus Testament Pantera (the latter Thrash & Groove I know although Testament & Pantera latter stuff went a bit Death influenced which is awesome getting harder with time)

Exodus has always been the heaviest metal band. The guitar riffing and chugging is absolutely crushing, once they get going into a groove it just goes like a freight train for several minutes, this is one of the very few bands that never gets boring to me.
I don't know why, but it took me until this year to finally get into them. I'm blown away by how good the past 3 or 4 albums are. And, yes, some of the grooves they get into are simply incredible.

Through the recording quality it's lost some of its bite, but you can tell that if you'd been there in person that wall of sound would hit you in the chest like a truck. The solos are sick, but listen to the rhythm guitar groove underlying it all as they trade off doing solos. It never stops chugging! Lmao that's what I love most about Exodus, the rhythm guitar parts always sound like an old diesel semi truck engine trying to start in the cold, and it just keeps chugging nonstop xD
