I 100% believe that the clearing of brush for the Salt Creek neighborhood helped save downtown/my home. If that was brush, so much more would have burned... I'll never forget opening my front door in my home, and feeling like I just opened an oven, the blast of heat, wind and ash, the glow was all you could see.... Thank you for saving my home. The way our community came together (besides cult bethel) was beautiful. I was at the Holiday Inn with my coworkers from Massage Envy all day/night offering free table and chair massages for all anyone working to protect our community and those evacuated. Also volunteering at farms/ranches/sanctuaries to help the animals... God bless the lives lost #shastastrong
I live in West Redding, River Ridge tract. I'll never forget the evening the carr fire hit my home and several others around my house. The firenado bent several of my trees over .. burned within 6 feet of my house. My gazebo, fences & tress were all gone. Charlotte Bailey is my neighbor. . Shes a widow and a sweetheart. She lost absolutely everything! I felt so guilty when i went over to her lot and theres absolutely nothing. I still have a house, its not fair! Charlotte promptly said to me.." "don't feel bad, i bought that house across the street that didn't burn & was for sale...so . I'm moving in there, I'm staying in my neighborhood! " Her husband died of cancer abd somehow, the only thing that did survive the fire, was her deceased husbands aluminum dog tags!
I remember seeking a little young man standing on the corner as we left camp, everyday that young man would salute as we left to work... He sure did stand out in my eyes. Thanks youngster.... 2 more chains
That picture of the firenado with the white hot fire to the left brings back horrible memories. That is the moment I ran. Thinking that I may have waited too long.
I can't believe this, Charlotte Bailey was a very good friend and a neighbor of ours two doors down. We were also neighbors with the Chief of Police, we move a few years before but it still hurts seeing all the memories.
Cal fire saved our town of Redding. Its because of them redding is still here. I have nothing but gratitude for them. They are amazing and we owe them everything. Best firefighters in the world. Love u @calfire
Everyone around there, Shasta County, were the lucky ones compared to Paradise, horrific! I'm sorry for your loss in all those effected tramadicaly, from whatever they d.e.w. I use to live around there. Just missed this catotrophic event, just a year earlier. Awesome video. Thank you!
I am from High Level, Alberta where the Chuckegg Creek wildfire is still burning and our community is under threat once more as the weather is getting very, VERY hot, thank you to every firefighter from any country who serve and protect.
These brave and much needed and appreciated men and woman in public safety see things that would effect ones life in so many good and life changing ways. Thank you all and gods speed.😢🙏🙏
I remember being 6 or 7, walking outside, just to see a giant plume of smoke and ash falling like rain, the sun an eerie orange, an absolute terrifying moment as red colored the bottom of the smoke cloud, and honestly it was insane to see and live through the Carr Fire, even though it was the 6th most destructive fire in California history, but it is honestly the most memorable. I remember having to evacuate, and there was still ashes where we went. I remember driving to our relatives, tell me to evacuate because the Carr fire was insanely massive and I was so young. By insane luck, the Carr Fire narrowly avoided our house, reached other parts of our neighborhood but not our house. My family was lucky to have no homes destroyed by this terrifying and massive firestorm. Thank you to those who saved lives and helped contain this destructive and terrifying monstrosity of a fire.
I remember doing structure protection as part of the TGU strike team at Clear Creek and the fire almost had us completely surrounded. One of the scariest experiences of my life.
My heart goes out to the people effected by the Carr fire being from uk where we don’t commonly get wild fire and when we do they are typically small but I understand how devastating they can be
i remember that day. i think i got home from my group meet and i saw the ash raining down in our yard. even some embers.. thank goodness nothing came of it but it was scary. i didn't sleep much for the three days it was the worst, packed up ready to go, we almost had to evac. The week before i was at Whiskytown lake with my friends that was the funny bit...it was hell on earth those few weeks. thanks you to all the crews that saved our city CHP, cal fire and Nat Guard. thank you so much for keeping us safe.
Till this day it still breaks my heart that my hometown Redding, Ca went up in flames. That day was like the gates to hell was broke opened. My parents and I were worried if were going to loose our home and not have a home to come home to. I do feel so sorry for those who have lost their homes and their lives. We are still Redding strong and forever will be. God bless our true super heroes of our town and for those who came out of state to help fight this fire.
Police, Sheriff, State police, Highway Patrol, Paramedics, Firefighters, Park service, National guard. They will do whatever they can to keep everyone safe....
They sure did. I almost lost where my husband and I lived. They were so overwhelmed as the days went on. My husband's aunt lived in Keswick and lost her home. My sister lived just down the road from us and lost her home. And my husband and I lived near where the Fire tornado formed and jumped the river and almost lost our apartment complex and our whole neighborhood.
Scariest thing I've ever been through... I was in French gulch working for at&t that day and I and three other guys crammed into the Telsa reel truck and the smoke was so thick you couldn't see the chp suv in front of us if it wasn't for their lights ..the truck started to get hot inside and I remember looking at my coworker and just saying hold on. The fear was real. The fire was on both sides of 299 and when we finally broke through that fresh air was the best thing ever. The next day I was back out in Keswick repairing phone lines putting out spot fires with the water buffalo ... It took us a whole year and a half almost to replace all the at&t infrastructure that was damaged or destroyed..
Thomas Lightningbolt excuse me? One, fuck you, and two you can’t control a drought. It was an accident from a car that chain sparked that caused the fire. I hope to God you never have to go through something like that. Between the camp fire and carr fire our community suffered A LOT!
My mom & two grandkids were killed in this fire. So was a young father, someone’s son and someone’s best friend. People trying to save people died. A firefighter surrounded by fire, knowing he was going to die had to tell dispatch to tell his wife he loved her & their kids and said goodbye. So, with all due respect, perhaps your classless comments would be more productive on a different forum, like a city counsel meeting, a letter to your congressperson, or an online therapist. If all else fails, I highly recommend some good old fashioned manners classes.
I remember last summer there was on day I woke up for school and there was No sky it was just smoke from the fires in California and I live in Illinois by Chicago.
Video does no justice to the experience of these monsters. The roar and heat are something that feels like the devil himself is eating the world. It's terrifying.
2:13 Cal Fire asked us "ALMOST right away" to deploy dosers. No one ever talks about how they let it burn overnight before attacking it. Looks like that part is completely overlooked by all officials. And that very reason is why it turned so destructive the next day. Smh
Or the fact that a civilian with a dozer arrived on scene and volunteered to put out the fire shortly after ignition but were told absolutely not by the forest service/park rangers due to the fact that it was on federal land. Wtf
To think this started when two vacationers got a flat tire on their trailer, continued to drive on it, and sparks from the wheel ignited grass in the ditch. :(
Part of it was the firenado. I evacuated to one of my other properties and pages of a bible were landing on my property with the edges burnt. Meaning that they came from miles away from a home that was destroyed. I kept one and bagged it . The strangest thing.
😢its so sad to see all the house and forests burnt down to ash all my prairies go to everybody the is a victim of the carr fire and all the agencies that was out there fighting as hard as they could thank you so much CHP and CAL FIRE

It is tragic. But you did it, and defeated the fire element, saving people and nature! Good work!

When you hear a sense of urgency from the Air Attacks voice it’s bad….
Dear Chief Bret, You may be proud of Your self sir.
I evacuated 3 houses in 2 days during this chaos.. it was the first time I had a full blown panic attack

Probably more so smoke from the Montana fires that got less coverage. The acres burned there were quite substantial as well.

How does a Tornado form in a fire?!
Pyrocumulus cloud....firestorm can create their own weather.....wind, rain, lightning and yes tornados.
Not a true tornado as it formed from wind generated from the ground up via heat unlike true tornadoes which forms downward from the storm
Updrafts and heat rising with the addition of strong winds anyway..
I was at Texas during the fire
That fire was on my moms birthday
Umm that ain’t no car fire 🚗🤨
Sorry…
So horrible..."thank you to you all"...
Yea... Karma is a cunt!
I grew up at whiskey town lake. It's hotter then heck all summer long there. Dry as a bone

and?
gsss101 Pretty much how the government operates.
Cop gave my wife a $250 dollar ticket because when we evacuated abd brought our pet duck.
