About 20 years ago the facade was in danger of collapsing, which would have meant the entire organ would have had to be dismantled and would have been lost. Phil Hoenig, the late Paul Carton and I spent a Saturday morning stabilizing it. I can just remember when it was partly playable, and every time I pass the church on the highway I think of the instrument and hope it will one day be restored.

Every year that goes by the more it will cost, this organ has been neglected for so many years to the point where minor problems were not addressed and became major problems and more numerous

Martin build great organs ..he did in hinsdale il. And clarendon hills il..tracker organs..i was lucky to see him install one in clarendon hills il in 2001..from start to finish..it has i belive 2 ranks from the old em.skinner re used and revoiced ..to his spec..he s a great person to talk too. I hope this organ in this video gets restored..ty

I would love to restore this organ for the cost of the materials but unfortunately it is to far away

It would be great if this wonderful old organ could be restored. But judging by what I see in this video, putting it in first class shape would be an extremely expensive undertaking.

I had previously heard that resultants were not effective at producing 16' pitch, only 32', but this organ (and a few others I've seen) has a 16' resultant for one of the principals, as they point out in the video. Very interesting.

I have a recording, on two LPs, of four Pfeffer organs in Missouri and Iowa. "A Pfeffer Odyssey", copyright 1983, Organ Historical Society. Coincidentally, I just listened to it recently, so this video is pretty interesting to me!
Unfortunately, this organ is not one of them on the recording.
According to the stoplist on the website above, and the information on my recording's liner notes, this organ's disposition is very similar to a Pfeffer in St. Mary's RC Church, Fort Madison, IA, that was built in 1879.

I have some very old recordings made during the Christmas and Easter masses. My family was the family choir for years and recordings were made on one of the first reel to reel recorders so the sound is less than desirable.
