The best thing that ever happened to FOX
Yep
FOX investing heavily into sports programming, the same thing that ABC did in the early 1960s. It’s the last frontier into live programming.
This and married with children
@@sarahrogerb3282 and The Simpsons
@@effend446 true that
The day Fox established itself as a major network
Along with the debut of the Simpsons & American Idol
@@mikeharris6722 Fox got Idol because UPN acted like an ass lmao
I'll go with the debut of Al Bundy.
September 4, 1994: The day the “Big Three” became the “Big Four.”
@@shaunwilliams8738 The NFC package put Fox on the major network map. Eventually Fox invested more into sports programming.
Same theme music 27 years later! it's kinda iconic now
It should be the US Military Anthem lol
I wonder how much money the guy who created that song has made off of it?
@@dustin6528 he made a lot off it. They brought him back to remix it for College Football on Fox and then do a companion theme for baseball which unfortunately they barely use anymore. The MLB on Fox theme was fantastic.
Fox changed the way Sports on TV was broadcasted. Before Fox Sports, nobody (ESPN included) had ever put the score on the screen during the game or the match. You had to wait for the commercial break to see the score on the screen. Fox changed that instantly.
Surprisingly, sports executives didn’t like the idea since they thought people would change the channel if it was a blowout. David Hill, then-president of Fox Sports, got several death threats as well.
But let’s be honest, there were scoreboards in sports stadiums, so a Scorebug was bound to happen. What’s the difference?
I remember these days lol. It was pretty annoying but at the time was just the norm.
Abc,fox and my network is owned by the same company
U are absolutely right
Plus, they invented the Yellow Line that everybody uses now.
Every man knows the joy every fall… after a long spring and summer …the first time you hear those amazing horns in the intro…the season has started: happiness.
I want that theme played at my funeral .
This needs to be the US National Anthem 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
When it's 9 AM on a fall sunday.... "da da duh da da da duh duhhhhhh"
Wow! First FOX NFL Sunday episode ever!
I was 9 or 10 years old⭐️
As soon as this Theme kicked in, its like some knew FOX will use this Theme for Decades to come.
I was five years old when this premiered. However, way more importantly, this was truly a new era in the NFL when FOX entered the game, seizing the NFC rights from CBS. This, along with Married…With Children, COPS, The Simpson’s, In Living Color, The X-Files, Martin, Living Single and America’s Most Wanted helped FOX to become a major player in the TV business. Also, this helped FOX become a major player in the sports world, acquiring the NHL shortly after and the MLB.
Don’t forget 90210 and melrose place
@@michaelugwueke6312 Absolutely
Terry Bradshaw never fails to impress us with his humor.😂😁
And on this day an absolute banger theme was born
1:35 birth of a legend
Please rise for the National Anthem 😂
The day the Big 3 became the Big 4.
This is truly a classic moment in a football fan's life.
Who remembers playing Madden NFL 95 on Sega Genesis…and being excited/surprised to hear the Fox NFL theme music play on the main menu?
I just played this game recently, but it's fun :)
FOX was revolutionary with their football coverage
The Fox Box with the score and time. They could also electronically superimpose the line markers which is helpful the field is cover with snow, which almost happened in the vVikings-Ravens game in Baltimore where there were 5 TDs in the last 2 minutes.
Yep I was in 9th grade and the rest is history. The day fox became a real network and changed the landscape of how football was televised💪🏾💯
I was 4 years old Started Pre-School Pre-Kindergarten 1994-95.
Happy 30th Anniversary, NFL on FOX!
So used to watching NFC games on CBS, so I was a bit confused that CBS didn’t continue, which we all know by now, helped launch Fox Sports.
CBS didn't continue with the NFC games because FOX outbid them for the rights. CBS confidently believed that the NFL would maintain the then established status quo, but the league and the upstart network had other ideas.
This year...is the 30th anniversary of one of the iconic themes of American sports...worldwide. This is the official theme of the National Football League...on FOX!
Fox Sports welcomes you to the following presentation of the National Football League.
This was the first year of Directv's Sunday Ticket. I remember buying it and having to setup the dish myself. It was so hard to get the dish aligned but I remember seeing the picture on my 27 inch Sony...I couldn't believe how clear it was. Fox put themselves on the map with the NFL package & they weren't so much excited about making money off the NFL as they were about promoting their prime time shows. It was a huge risk but it paid off.
It is still alive 27 years later
In September, WJW in Cleveland was the first to make the New World swap and that’s the station’s first Fox program followed by WDAF in Kansas City but by December 12, 1994 the switch dominos fall
Man I love the FOX pregame and the theme music but have always been more of a fan of CBS actual in game production.
Same, also IDK why, but I like CBS's Scoreboards more than FOX's.
CBS drops the ball heavy when it comes to replaying things. Their announcers, aside from the top team and Harlan are also bleh.
The memories...
30 years ago today....the NFL on FOX was born!
Damn this some serious heat😮💨🔥
RIP Dick Ervasti
Fox put itself on the map that day and CBS was never the same again. Even today, CBS is just a shell of what they used to be.
Amazing! What a time to be alive!
Happy 30th Anniversary NFL on Fox
I had no idea Jerome Bettis was a Ram before he was a Steeler.
This was the day Fox join the NFL family as Major sports broadcaster
Fox changed the game in '94, every TV station in the country wants a piece of the Fox NFL action with the great TV switcheroo known in the business as "The Big Switch" in 1995.
DFW
4: CBS -> Fox
11: Ind -> CBS
33: Fox -> WB (today CW)
I would literally give anything to go back to the mid 90s
This was Jennifer "Jenny" Foxworth from Oliver and Company starts her day in High School as a 9th Grade Freshmen during DJ Tanner, Kimmy Gibbler, Viper, and Nelson's 12th Grade Senior Year in High School.
The best franchise ever won the SB this year ❤❤❤
For 30 years ❤
Around this time as well fox sports put there network and NFL ON FOX Theme on Madden NFL 95 Game. Very impressive honestly back then.
2 months form now theu will cleberating 30 uears of NFL on FolOX..i was 2 back then
The NFL on Fox theme has always been the most badass in sports sounds corny but me and my buddies used to play that theme in the gym while we worked out for our varsity football team many moons ago
That's the year, My brother Emmanuel Mensah was born!

A piece of television history
Pretty cool man im 30 and nows it is its 30th season 😢😢😂😂😂 😁😁😁
The original NFL commentary and format was amazing, but I still prefer watching the NFL format and graphics from 2001 and 2002.
Fox used to be the cool network for sports.
I miss this voice over guy
So do I☘️Dick Ervasti’s voice was amazing☘️
It was good back then...
I was less than a year old when this happened
I thought the first super bowl in 1996 on fox
I WAS 9 YRS OLD WITH MY FATHER WHEN THIS CAME ON RICHMOND, VA
100th comment🎉🎉🎉🎉
WAGA-TV Channel 5 switched from CBS to FOX, while WGNX-TV Channel 46 becomes CBS affiliate in 1994.
1:36 ALL RISE FOR THE ANTHEM OF THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAUGE!
SNF introduced continuous scores on NBC in ‘06
Pat Summerall and John Madden
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman
And now it’s Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady
Fox has the Super Bowl this season
It’s in New Orleans
Brady’s very Super Bowl was in New Orleans
On the call: Summerall & Madden, the last game they did together
And the only game they did in Brady’s career.
In 2001, Fox had ATL-NE but was done by lower tiered crew. The other game Fox could’ve had was STL-NE but it was on ESPN SNF. That was the last game NE would lose all season
John Madden: Brett Favre! Brett Favre! Brett Favre! Brett Favre!
1:35
Who was the voice over guy in this ad?? 😮best voice lol
The late Dick Ervasti.
The way Bradshaw said Hollywood had me laughing at 1:28
Vikings & packers
Steelers & cowboys
MN-GB was done by Kevin Harlan… you know that guy is pretty good. So good he could call two games at once
DAL-PIT was Summerall-Madden. It was the Cowboys 1st ever win at Three Rivers and one of four wins the Cowboys had over the Steelers in the 1990s
1991: Thanksgiving. The rare Jimmy Johnson vs Chuck Knoll matchup
1994 & 1997: Both times the Cowboys won those games. And the season ended with the Steelers losing at home to an AFC West team. DAL 1994 ended with a L in the NFC Championship at SF. DAL 1997 ended with them losing their final 5 to bottom out to 6-10
Super Bowl XXX: Cowboys exercise past demons by beating the Steelers in a Super Bowl & winning their 3rd title in the decade
I wonder if Disney Channel will do something like this after they get the NFL rights.
They’re getting NFL rights? Seriously?
I would unironically watch an NFL game on Disney Channel
dude i see you saying weird shit like this everywhere
Nah, it'll just be unceremoniously absorbed into ESPN
Disney channel "has" the rights. Except it is on ESPN on Mondays.
