Just reminds me of what I did in 2018. I had figured most of these by accompanying my friends’ car purchases and once falling victim to these gimmicks when I bought my first car in the US. But not the next time… It was a 2018 Black Friday; there were offers everywhere for New Cars. I sat in front of my system at 5AM since most of the dealers were open from 4AM on the day. There was a text message option in every dealer's site in Richmond, Virginia area, just started texting about the 2018 Toyota RAV4 “OTD” price. Trust me, they will cut the chase and come to the point. They will give you the number without explaining what is what. Saves a lot of time and energy for both parties. Don’t waste energy by negotiating. Once you have the OTD, skip the dealer and text the next one. If the price is higher, share the screenshot of the previous best price, he will for sure beat the price to get the business. Once you have the best price, again don’t negotiate further; move to the next dealer. Repeat the same. Trust me; it saves a lot of energy and time. Also, you realize how much margin these dealers keep on the price. Once you arrived at the best price in the town, without sharing the screenshot, say you have an offer cheaper than this say $500-$1000 lesser. At this point, you will know they can’t go down further. Don’t stop here do the same with other dealers who matched the best price. Just to confirm. If nobody is able to go down further, you know you’ve hit the rock bottom of the price. Now, hold on to the price, you start your negotiation on free all-weather mats, rails, trunk organize, and all. Trust me they will throw those in for the heck of closing the business because they have already spent enough time with you and it was their target day too. Once all agreed, you close your laptop and go out for the real car shopping. When I got my RAV4, the dealer was not happy at all, just wanted to do the formalities and get rid of me. LOL. That’s a good sign you’re really getting a killer deal. I got my brand new 2018 Toyota RAV4 LE for $17,300 with a lot of other accessories. The first OTD was $22,000 (which is already a Black Friday Deal price plus the next year Toyota was remodeled one). Here the intention is to reveal how much they can go down further from the already discounted price. When buying a car, one should never mix, identifying the car and closing the deal. These two should be treated as two distinct steps. I would suggest do each of these steps in isolation. Never mix them up. Also never walk into the dealership with an ounce of hope that you can negotiate and get the best deal. We all know who wins who loses. Sometimes, they will make us look like we are the best negotiators in the world and got the best deal, but just to realize later it was the other way 😀
Excellent strategy. I am planning to buy a new car in next few months. Will these strategies still work during the chip shortage and demand to buy is higher. I already see that used car prices are almost Same as new car. So worried if they will really negotiate and provide a best price.

Excellent sir. Just started watching all your videos and I am addicted to it. You are providing tons of quality info which would take years to experience if not for your videos. Keep going. Your fan from San Diego.
Extraordinary suggestion and got a detailed view before buying car . Can you make a similar videos like this for Indians.....?? Expecting your videos regularly.......thanks for educating us financially.......eagerly waiting for your next videos.....I am damn sure that your channel will grow in compound rate of interest because your videos are unique and informative...... Please guide younger generation like me who will be between 20 - 25 age.....thanks a lot
Sir I did few techniques you mentioned for recent car purchase and that helped a lot. When I purchase my new car 5yrs back lot of things they screwed up by changing my mind. I agree with what you say about do our homework before buying car. Good to know the word “Out the Door” price. Because I asked that dealer manager to provide the final price which I need to pay and i told them to reduce $500 less than what they offer. Initially they confuse me by telling different breakup then finally they said okay for the price I asked. Main hidden price in car buying is Dealer & Handling Fees in USA. Good video 🙏🏻
I have started watching your videos since yesterday. All videos are useful. I think i will complete all your videos with in this weekend . Your contents are crisp and clear. Many Thanks from Texas!
Highly informative. Started following this channel for the past few months and finding it extremely useful. It would be helpful if you do a video on buying used cars as most first timers want to buy used car.
All smart points nicely put together and well presented- Simple and neat !! Thankyou Vijay - Keep up your good work :) appreciated. All lame things will be filtered out if one did what you said.
I bought a car year ago. I almost did everything as you said. I opted for their extra package. The price went more around $3000. I wish I could have come a year ago. Very useful information. 😊
Excellent tips. I always prefer to deal with the internet department. Less hassle. Also, it helps to take an experienced friend who knows these tactics and help one maintain their balance.
That's nice Vijay, I did the same thing. Only difference is I had no credit history, but I had taken a pre-approved loan from DCU only after that I had engaged the dealership. Unfortunately they feel Indians haggle a lot so the perception was shown to me as well. The model(VIN) they gave me on the email was no more in their inventory so the sales guy was not able to offer at that price. I stood on that price, I said I had no preference on the color, he went in and came back multiple times said if you are ready to buy in next 3 days I will offer you the same price. I accepted it.
Good content and Well explained, recently came across this channel and like it very much. Made the mistake of going with Family buying RAV4 in 2018 and they pushed a maintenance package which added 1200$ more. Nice tips and will be using it in my next car purchase....Thanks Vijay
Definitely your a master mind, i would like to know about your past. Please try making a video - how did you come to US and much more.. We would love to here. Thanks ! Your Fan from Philly!
Great video! It explains a lot of things that no one ever shares! It would be good if you could share your thoughts on buying American cars like GM, Ford as well. Buying vs leasing a car is another interesting topic.
Financially speaking, buying is always better than leasing. Rarely, there could be good deals on leasing - especially on luxury cars. But in general, better to avoid leasing.
Great, but for todays situation dealers are selling more than the msrket price smd wait time for car is average month. The cheap deal we can get is if they sell the car for online price only, its a cheap.
is buying a tesla car asset or liability. I'm from california where gas price is higher than national average. considering cost of electric charging Vs gasoline , low price of tesla due to high fed interest rates , rebates offered by california state on purchasing EV. What is your take on this ?
Not really. There is just one goal with used cars. Buying it for a price less than KBB value. Given the shortage in auto industry now, not really a good time for negotiation.
@@InvestmentInsightsTamil Got it. I saw few models listed the price lower than KBB with Avg. Miles between 10- 15k. But not sure they will provide OTD price.
I have leased a Chevy Bolt EV and the 36 month lease is ending coming Feb. Any suggestions on leasing vs buying EVs? Understand leasing is very popular but I will never be able to get over the monthly payments plus I will never own it.

Personally, I am not a fan of American cars - except for Tesla. Leasing - rarely comes out ahead of buying.

Leasing rarely comes out as a better option. I would avoid it.

Yeah, crazy times.
Hi Sir, Thanks for this video. Could you please suggest me, which is better to go with new car or the second hand as per the current situation?
Used car prices have started coming down. It is still not back to normal though. If you find a better deal with a new one, go for it.
Good info 👍
What about Sam's club or Costco Auto programs?

Buying a car for personal use is always a liability, never an asset. But if you are in the market for a car, sure you can consider a Tesla.
Anna - I am living in Oregon where there is no sales tax. Is it good to buy the car here rather than in other states? Pls advice.
Yes, definitely. Total out the door price will be cheaper.
