- Grégoire Blanc performing Rachmaninoff's Vocalise live at BOZAR, August 2018.
Conductor : Laurent Beeckmans
Orchestra : Ensemble Orchestral de Bruxelles
I missed this guy so much! Glad to hear he’s still playing for all the aliens in the world.
So real
Surreal...
this is so mean lol
0:54 - That is a human voice. Like, wtf. I can't even wrap my head around how amazing this sounds.
Do people just not realise that a human voice is just sound waves and is a frequency, like this isn’t that amazing.
@@Baummann1 That is one of the most idiotic things I've ever read in my life, even from a RUclipsr; do you have any idea how *complex* the human voice is? I don't know why I'm asking because the answer is clearly no.
@@yourgameisstupid You sir are actually the dumb one, even if the human voice is complex, it's still frequency and sound, so it's not THAT amazing if an instrument can replicate that.
@@AntoinePelissier That doesn't even make sense. Next time you feel the need to say something, educate yourself on the topic and actually think about what you're talking about before trying to talk about it. RUclips may have hundreds of petabytes of storage, but your post is still a waste.
@@yourgameisstupid So if human voice is not a frequency, thus a sound, tell me what is it?
I believe we all agree that he is the best theremin user on *this* planet.
Check out Katica Illényi's performance of the soprano aria "O Mio Babbino Caro".
ruclips.net/video/sh4EQFVAE04/видео.html
The only two people on earth today who have mastered it are Grégoire Blanc and Katica Illényi, but I suspect that if the two of them were to meet in a theremin face-off, Katica would be declared the world champion.

Clara Rockmore was one of the pioneers of that instrument
@@hectorpye8913 Really, Clara Rockmore was THE pioneer, along with Lev Theremin himself. Things have moved on, however, and M. Grégoire Blank, with today's technology of Theremin, has, I think, left Ms Rockmore behind......
Let's not forget about Carolina Eyck
This piece is originally written for soprano and orchestra.... yet you achieved a woman singing out of that instrument!! Totally mesmerized bravo!!! 😱😍👏👏
Also how Gregoire changed register from true soprano to mezzo, then alto, even tenor. Extraordinary skill.
Never tought this instrument could achieve such level of emotion. I'm glad I'm wrong. It's simply beautiful, congratulations!
MY BOI IS BACK
hyenaballerina, Oh how I’ve waited for this glorious moment
For me, he's already the best in history.
I'm still in love 😍
Well well well… understandable. Who wouldn’t fell in love with such a handsome musician haha
@@gblanctheremin a very reasonable question, your attractiveness is from "out of this world" 😉
Grégoire Blanc lmao
@@gblanctheremin he's getting out of hand
6:47 look at that violinist face !! he is almost scared / stunned how is that sound is coming out of this contraption !! UNREAL !!
This piece transcripted for theremin is something magical. I mean when you listen it at some moment you start to believe that it is a real human voice. You hold you breath with the music because the melody is pure beauty, triste, sad beauty, and then you start to realise that this 'voice' sings without taking breath, all this long-long phrases. Sublime!
I sing this piece, and Miss Theramin does a beautiful job and never has to take a breath!
Congratulations for the effort to achieve this level of skill! Beautiful music
In some parts it sounds like someone’s crying their heart out.
@6:30 amazing . Exactly replicates the human voice cracking at an octave change. Majestic precision. I wonder if your arm hurts when holding it for so long.
That's my favorite moment in this whole piece! It's such a small thing but it's stunning.
This is still one of the most beautiful renditions of this I have ever heard
Omg, what a virtuoso. Perfect pitch and performance. Bravo.
His music is otherworldly mesmerising. But he also looks very tall standing, poised, elegant and sophisticated.
Methinks...he might have marfans syndrome...someone was commenting on his extra long fingers in another video
That's because if he moves his feet while playing the theremin the sound will change and he will have to calibrate it again
I agree, there is something princely about him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's descendant of an aristocratic or royal family
He’s French. Suave
I am moved to tears in the most beautiful of ways, and it is all because of you, Grégoire. You! That you can achieve such beauty offers hope for a world which of late has known of the sorrows of an unnecessary pain. There is prophecy here, and of a greater truth, that everything lived within the source of Life itself as a measure of Love is all we need to survive. I will never forget this moment. Thank you so much!
A beautiful man who plays for the aliens, and humans who are lucky enough to find him.
an angel makes angelic music...
You're brilliant, my friend
Merveilleux ! Le son du thérémin est magique.
Merci pour ce moment. Bravo !
Manuel.
3:54 omg
ur amazing. the instrument is amazing. this is all just amazing.
Russia can create, the kremlin can only destroy.
Oh, my god! I have not heard a theremin performance in years. This was beautiful, eerie and magical. And, better than any other performance of Vocalise I've ever heard. (Apologies to Renee Fleming and others.) Wow.
Damn he's smooth
My favorite comment on this vid ^^^^^ I'm choking
Beautiful. Very inspiring.. you are extremely talented! I'm getting a theremin of my own which will no doubt sound like a dying cat and drive my wife crazy. No doubt it will be very frustrating and there are sure to be times I'll feel like tossing the thing out the window. Guess you've gone through that too at some point hu?
Oh I’m sorry for your wife haha… Sure, I think all musicians have to endure what you are describing ! There’s always something to be frustrated about when you try to make music whatever the level. At the beginning you hate yourself for not being able to make a nice sound, then it’s about being on pitch, and then about musicality and expression… Keep going ! Don’t give up, playing the theremin is such a wonderful challenge ! And have fun :)
Hi Grégoire, thank you for your reply and words of encouragement! I am looking forward to the challenge of the theremin when it arrives. Lucky for the rest of the house there is an earphone jack :-) Cheers from Oz
@@gblanctheremin how do you learn these? Do they have sheet music for such an instrument?
I hope you are still playing your theremin, Roger! Good luck 😃
It sounds like a beautiful woman singing along with the orchestra.
I'm new to this alien musical instrument and fall in love with it.... It definitely has somewhat melancholy power.... Also, I am so glad to know someone who can fully show the power of the instrument!
What don't they show you more? You're the soloist after all!
Oh my god this is so beautiful..
So beautifull..
Tu as l'oreille précise et l'émotion vive. Tu as toute mon admiration. Lev Sergey Termen serait fier de toi! Un beau bonjour du Québec! §:c) (Joues-tu encore de la scie ?)
I amazed how the sound resembles human resonance.... 😳
I think Rachmaninoff would've smiled at this!
Finally! Something modern that is beautiful.
Love this version, The theremim is beautifully adapted to this composition.
Sorry for the CAPS, but this is AMAZING. You are a master of your instrument.
Touched my heart.
I want to be like you. Thanks for the inspiration. Bless you
Really enjoy this each and every time
So beautiful 😌 the Theramin evokes emotion in me. He is very talented 🎶
I 've just fallen in love with you and your instrument...xD
I had no idea a Theremin could display so much expression! Really neat!
I admire he looks up to the conductor as well ~
One of the most interesting instruments to watch, excellent job, and most of the video is his back, wideshots, or cello players, especially on the more interesting parts. Thanks.
Hey! Do you know the name of this instrument?? Or is something totally unknown?
You can also find a Theremin recording of this piece played on a genuine Theremin Theremin, played by Clara Rockmore.
It's amazing it sounds like a person singing
Absolutely stunning. Never fails to amaze me
Listening again. You have touched my heart more deeply than you will ever know. The music I will come to write for you will serve as testament to that.
Sublimely beautiful, what instrument is it please, only just discovered this man, because of Schindlers list, wow, he’s awesome , more please, 👏👏👏👏👏🌹Australian
!!!!! thought he disappeared for a while, so glad he's uploading again!!
I think he had to go through puberty and then reappear.
Félicitations ! Quelle beauté ! Bravo Bravo !
Je découvre. J'adore. Très touchant.
This is amazing... I have no more words.
Hauntingly beautiful 😍
Merveilleux ❤
Gratitude 🙏🥰
unbelievable, unbelievable ... what a wonderful instrument and unique theremin artist.
Superbe, bravo Grégoire!
Incroyable !
this is beautiful! would love to hear you try more vocalises, in particular messiaen's vocalise-etude...
Definitely! Messiaen's Vocalise-Étude is a favorite, I had the opportunity to perform it live many times, and I should probably make a proper recording someday...
Gorgeous x
Amazing and uncanny resemblance to human voice. And you are a giant
Oh sheet mang he uploaded again
Only one word: Beautiful!!!
this is so beautiful
Astounding!
I haven't watched this guy in 6 years and now he's got a beard and a live orchestra behind him holy fuck
If you had performed this one month earlier I could have attended lol 😭 I was in brussles
Beautiful sound and magnificent venue. I've performed in Amsterdam's Konzertgebau, but would love to hear a live performance in this space.
AWESOME!!! Thank you!!
does anyone else ever feel like the theremin sounds like a human voice? especially when he holds a note longer than two seconds [I am not trained in music at all so idk if saying holding a note is the correct terminology here] but like, if you ignore the obvious electronic vibration whenever he lowers a note it does sound like a human and I love it
It really matches the timbre quite well, especially in the higher sections.
You are quite amazing. Bravo!
God bless the thermine in the background
What do you mean ?
Thanks for this wonderful performance! :)
HE IS SO BIG NOOWW
Superbe, monsieur Blanc!
Magnifique bravo!
Bravo Gregoire!
This is amazing, best theremin player
Great performane
Wow
Contente de te revoir ici..;)❤
Bonjour Monsieur
All the vocaloid’s wigs are SNATCHED
@twosetviolin what did you think of this? Can you make a video about theremin?
Amazing! All of them...but it is not too often that you see a theremin player with an orchestra playing. ^^
If I didn't know better, I would say that this was sampled. But this guy IS THAT GOOD!! Perhaps the most 'human' version ever?
Wonderful intepretation!
Wow this is beautiful
Mesmerising
Astonishing musicality
