This piece is originally written for soprano and orchestra.... yet you achieved a woman singing out of that instrument!! Totally mesmerized bravo!!! 😱😍👏👏
This piece transcripted for theremin is something magical. I mean when you listen it at some moment you start to believe that it is a real human voice. You hold you breath with the music because the melody is pure beauty, triste, sad beauty, and then you start to realise that this 'voice' sings without taking breath, all this long-long phrases. Sublime!
I am moved to tears in the most beautiful of ways, and it is all because of you, Grégoire. You! That you can achieve such beauty offers hope for a world which of late has known of the sorrows of an unnecessary pain. There is prophecy here, and of a greater truth, that everything lived within the source of Life itself as a measure of Love is all we need to survive. I will never forget this moment. Oh, my god! I have not heard a theremin performance in years. This was beautiful, eerie and magical. And, better than any other performance of Vocalise I've ever heard. (Apologies to Renee Fleming and others.) Wow.
@6:30 amazing . Exactly replicates the human voice cracking at an octave change. Majestic precision. I wonder if your arm hurts when holding it for so long.

I'm new to this alien musical instrument and fall in love with it.... It definitely has somewhat melancholy power.... Also, I am so glad to know someone who can fully show the power of the instrument!
Beautiful. Very inspiring.. you are extremely talented! I'm getting a theremin of my own which will no doubt sound like a dying cat and drive my wife crazy. No doubt it will be very frustrating and there are sure to be times I'll feel like tossing the thing out the window. Guess you've gone through that too at some point hu?
Oh I’m sorry for your wife haha… Sure, I think all musicians have to endure what you are describing ! There’s always something to be frustrated about when you try to make music whatever the level. At the beginning you hate yourself for not being able to make a nice sound, then it’s about being on pitch, and then about musicality and expression… Keep going ! Don’t give up, playing the theremin is such a wonderful challenge ! And have fun :)
Hi Grégoire, thank you for your reply and words of encouragement! I am looking forward to the challenge of the theremin when it arrives. Lucky for the rest of the house there is an earphone jack :-) Cheers from Oz

One of the most interesting instruments to watch, excellent job, and most of the video is his back, wideshots, or cello players, especially on the more interesting parts. Thanks.
This brings to mind Richard Smallwood’s Gospel arrangement of this ethereal piece; haunting and also rousing. It’s titled “The Resurrection”. Extremely well suited to the theme of Smallwood’s song. PWG
does anyone else ever feel like the theremin sounds like a human voice? especially when he holds a note longer than two seconds [I am not trained in music at all so idk if saying holding a note is the correct terminology here] but like, if you ignore the obvious electronic vibration whenever he lowers a note it does sound like a human and I love it

I sing this piece, and Miss Theramin does a beautiful job and never has to take a breath!
His music is otherworldly mesmerising. But he also looks very tall standing, poised, elegant and sophisticated.
Methinks...he might have marfans syndrome...someone was commenting on his extra long fingers in another video
That's because if he moves his feet while playing the theremin the sound will change and he will have to calibrate it again
I agree, there is something princely about him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's descendant of an aristocratic or royal family
He’s French. Suave
A beautiful man who plays for the aliens, and humans who are lucky enough to find him.
an angel makes angelic music...
