    I am watching and posting as you talk about the coaches. I am a Miami and Michigan fan, but I do have some luv for WVU, I lived in Fairmont years ago and respect the team and all the WVU Fans. Even though one of them tried to hit me with a whiskey bottle when Miami last played in the Great state of West Virginia. The first thing, Do Not hire JImbo Fisher. He worked at some high-power schools but never was able to win it all. It is all about the pay day for him in my opinion. Please continue.

    • @bostacker6675
      @bostacker6675 2 дня назад +2

      That is so wrong. He had Michigan headed in the right direction, he just didn’t have the time and he rubbed the powers to be the wrong way. Btw the next coach took Michigan to a BCS Bowl with Rods players.

    • @CountryRoadsWebcast
      @CountryRoadsWebcast  День назад +1

      Michigan wasn't the best fit for RR granted, but he would have been successful there with more time I believe. The year Hoke won the BCS bowl was with RR's players and then Hoke didn't have much success after that while Rich Rod went on to good years at Arizona. And is proving he can still do it in this era at Ole Miss and Jax State. I'd take him over Jimbo any day of the week personally.

      It's wild he wasn't even mentioned in this. Realistically, I'd expect Kotelnicki, Jimbo, or Odom. BUT Saban is a very realistic candidate as well. McAfee's tie with him and his recent "cryptic" tweet says this isn't as absurd as it sounds.

      @CheersBeersMountaineers День назад +2

      @@itsnotokgolf Yeah, Odom is hardly a step up from Neal. Kotelnicki, on the other hand, is a gamble. He may run a good enough offense to hang with the big boys but he doesn't have any HC experience. I could see him being more like Holgerson. He'd occasionally have a Geno-like talent which would get top 25 rankings but no defense which would limit him to 9-10 win seasons at best.

    • @CountryRoadsWebcast

    I like Brennan Marion. I will say again. He's young, he's hungry, he's talented, he's creative, he's a players coach, he's produced turnaround winners everywhere he's gone and the "Go Go" offense works! UNLV has been ranked in the top 25 all year and it's in large part due to that offensive scheme Marion invented.

  • @-The-Stranger-
    @-The-Stranger- 2 дня назад +5

    Doc Holiday would likely come to WVU for a very cheap price, additionally you wouldn't have to sign him to a long contract seeing as this is his dream job. He elevated Marshall's program earning 3 division titles in CUSA, 1 conference title, 2 conference coach of the year awards, a 6-2 bowl record one of which was against a power 5 opponent and even finished in the top 25 one year. That's pretty good considering how hard it is to recruit at Marshall, as well as keep players there with all the crime and drug problems Huntington has these days. Holiday is an amazing recruiter and has strong ties to a lot of great schools in Florida. It baffles me why his name isn't brought up more.

    • @billhaynes400
      @billhaynes400 День назад +1

      Doc might consider it, although he may be enjoying retirement too much at this point in his life. He was a good coach for Marshall and had great success, even through the Covid years - 2020 season ending losses notwithstanding. I wouldn't be so hasty about opining Huntington, though. I live there. It's a good town with great people. There is a drug problem, but that's everywhere.

    • @CountryRoadsWebcast
      @CountryRoadsWebcast  День назад +1

      I like Doc, think he is an underrated coach, but believe it is just a whole new game now with the transfer portal and NIL and he hasn't really had to deal with that and may not want to deal with it either as many other coaches around his age have felt that way and retired.

    • @-The-Stranger-
      @-The-Stranger- День назад +2

      @@CountryRoadsWebcast Agreed, at minimum he deserves a phone call and mention though. He loves this state and school. Perhaps much like Sabin he'd just want to help, and I'd be shocked if he wasn't still giving money to the university. Unless there is some past conflict he had here, that we don't know about.

      I feel the opposite about Jimbo and RichRod as you do LOL but I do agree that's the only issue with the younger hires is they may leave quickly. • @-The-Stranger-
    @-The-Stranger- 2 дня назад +5

    I will say though, Rich Rod would bring a lot of talent with him. Rick Tricket would likely come back as OL. Possibly Jeff Casteel. Rich Rod surrounded himself with a lot of the same people, some of which even followed him to Jacksonville State, even our OC back when he coached at WVU till he suffered an ill-fated Heart Attack. Let's face it, Rich Rod still knows how to win and has admitted his biggest regret is leaving WVU. People are entitled to make mistakes in life, as long as he came back in a contrite way, I'm game. He could absolutely win here. His recruiting is phenomenal even in CUSA and he's beating the bricks off almost everyone.

He could bring several of those guys with him, Rich coaches his guys up to a high level. WV would not have to pay him a high salary.
