I am watching and posting as you talk about the coaches. I am a Miami and Michigan fan, but I do have some luv for WVU, I lived in Fairmont years ago and respect the team and all the WVU Fans. Even though one of them tried to hit me with a whiskey bottle when Miami last played in the Great state of West Virginia. The first thing, Do Not hire JImbo Fisher. He worked at some high-power schools but never was able to win it all. It is all about the pay day for him in my opinion. Please continue.
As i am writing this , wikipedia has Jimbo Fisher listed as the " Head coach of west virginia 2025- present " 🤷😊 . But he did win it all with a national championship with Florida State .
Garrett Riley is the correct pick. He'll probably only stay a handful of years if he is successful. He is the one to bring WVU football back to its glory days
I like Anthony Becht he is a fromer Mountaineer and has been a head coach of St.Louis Battlehawks of the UFL spring league football. I figured he would do a good job.
That is so wrong. He had Michigan headed in the right direction, he just didn’t have the time and he rubbed the powers to be the wrong way. Btw the next coach took Michigan to a BCS Bowl with Rods players.
Michigan wasn't the best fit for RR granted, but he would have been successful there with more time I believe. The year Hoke won the BCS bowl was with RR's players and then Hoke didn't have much success after that while Rich Rod went on to good years at Arizona. And is proving he can still do it in this era at Ole Miss and Jax State. I'd take him over Jimbo any day of the week personally.
It's wild he wasn't even mentioned in this. Realistically, I'd expect Kotelnicki, Jimbo, or Odom. BUT Saban is a very realistic candidate as well. McAfee's tie with him and his recent "cryptic" tweet says this isn't as absurd as it sounds.
@@itsnotokgolf Yeah, Odom is hardly a step up from Neal. Kotelnicki, on the other hand, is a gamble. He may run a good enough offense to hang with the big boys but he doesn't have any HC experience. I could see him being more like Holgerson. He'd occasionally have a Geno-like talent which would get top 25 rankings but no defense which would limit him to 9-10 win seasons at best.
I like Brennan Marion. I will say again. He's young, he's hungry, he's talented, he's creative, he's a players coach, he's produced turnaround winners everywhere he's gone and the "Go Go" offense works! UNLV has been ranked in the top 25 all year and it's in large part due to that offensive scheme Marion invented.
Doc Holiday would likely come to WVU for a very cheap price, additionally you wouldn't have to sign him to a long contract seeing as this is his dream job. He elevated Marshall's program earning 3 division titles in CUSA, 1 conference title, 2 conference coach of the year awards, a 6-2 bowl record one of which was against a power 5 opponent and even finished in the top 25 one year. That's pretty good considering how hard it is to recruit at Marshall, as well as keep players there with all the crime and drug problems Huntington has these days. Holiday is an amazing recruiter and has strong ties to a lot of great schools in Florida. It baffles me why his name isn't brought up more.
Doc might consider it, although he may be enjoying retirement too much at this point in his life. He was a good coach for Marshall and had great success, even through the Covid years - 2020 season ending losses notwithstanding. I wouldn't be so hasty about opining Huntington, though. I live there. It's a good town with great people. There is a drug problem, but that's everywhere.
I like Doc, think he is an underrated coach, but believe it is just a whole new game now with the transfer portal and NIL and he hasn't really had to deal with that and may not want to deal with it either as many other coaches around his age have felt that way and retired.
@@CountryRoadsWebcast Agreed, at minimum he deserves a phone call and mention though. He loves this state and school. Perhaps much like Sabin he'd just want to help, and I'd be shocked if he wasn't still giving money to the university. Unless there is some past conflict he had here, that we don't know about.
Good list of potential coaches. I like Oregon’s OC, but I don’t think he would stay here very long. Jimbo would be a great “headline” hire, but I’m not sold on him. Please God no Richrod or Chip Kelly.
I feel the opposite about Jimbo and RichRod as you do LOL but I do agree that's the only issue with the younger hires is they may leave quickly. But on the positive side, if they are, then that at least means we are probably having success and if we get that for even a year or 2, at this point I'd be smitten with that!
I will say though, Rich Rod would bring a lot of talent with him. Rick Tricket would likely come back as OL. Possibly Jeff Casteel. Rich Rod surrounded himself with a lot of the same people, some of which even followed him to Jacksonville State, even our OC back when he coached at WVU till he suffered an ill-fated Heart Attack. Let's face it, Rich Rod still knows how to win and has admitted his biggest regret is leaving WVU. People are entitled to make mistakes in life, as long as he came back in a contrite way, I'm game. He could absolutely win here. His recruiting is phenomenal even in CUSA and he's beating the bricks off almost everyone.
RR would be great next to SABAN which will not happen. Other WV people Tony Gibson and Garin Justice ,SMU ass’t head coach , The Doctor. Anyone but JIMBO
Not a bad name but think he would need a little more experience as a head coach at this level first, perhaps at a G5 job in today's game, but I'd love to see us try to get him for an assistant coach role on the new staff if we could steal him away from SMU!
No matter now you feel about Rich Rod, he is definitely the best current coach at Jacksonville State, look at his record, he has been there 2 years and he has them playing for a conference playoff, he is a great recruiter, look at his current lineup, these guys know how to play. He could bring several of those guys with him, Rich coaches his guys up to a high level. WV would not have to pay him a high salary. He is the best prospect, and we already know what we’re getting and not wondering how a new coach is going to work out. Rich Rod
Hard pass on Jimbo for me but I know a lot feel the way you do. I could maybe warm up to it if it ended up happening though of course, because at this point I'm just ready for a new era even if the hire isn't one of my preferences!

Worst HIRE WVU could make is JIMBO. Terrible coach. But WVU shoots their foot off every time and they will do it again in hiring JIMBO.
Hard pass on Jimbo for me as well! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Enjoyed your podcast. Believe your list is an accurate one. Good research.
Really appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching!
Hey Jordan I have total faith in Mr Baker to pick the right coach I think he will do a good job 👍
Well said Tim! As do I!
Great information. Very well done sir.
Thanks so much Thomas!
Garrett Riley is the correct pick. He'll probably only stay a handful of years if he is successful. He is the one to bring WVU football back to its glory days
Wouldn't be mad at that at all!
Get Schumann, the DC at Georgia. Enough with the old , washed up guys
I like Anthony Becht he is a fromer Mountaineer and has been a head coach of St.Louis Battlehawks of the UFL spring league football. I figured he would do a good job.
Wren will help pick who is a great fit for WVU great show.
I'm for Anthony becht
Jordan with that extensive list I’m surprised you didn’t add Gary Patterson as a potential.
Thought about it but he didn't quite make the cut. Do like the Power Conference coaching Experience though.
No Rich rod. Move forward not back. Nehlin was on their mind for the longest time and they kept looking for it. No Rich rod.
I like how everyone keeps bringing up hasbeens for coach. Time to forget about those losers.
Rich Rod could not do shit as Michigan Coach with a strong program. He actually screwed up the UM program.
That is so wrong. He had Michigan headed in the right direction, he just didn’t have the time and he rubbed the powers to be the wrong way. Btw the next coach took Michigan to a BCS Bowl with Rods players.

Saban is coming for 2 years to rebuild and develop a young up n coming hotshot OC or DC to takeover as next HC

That'd be a dream! But according to McAfee, it does sound like he wants to help with the hire which is a huge plus!
Tom hermen I think would be a good fit
the dude who just got fired?
Yeah just like all the other dudes on this list@chasestrickland3065
No way. Guy is the biggest cry baby in the world. WVU fans would hate him
A name with experience for sure, but not the best success rate and I'm just not a fan of his at all personally!
I like Brennan Marion. I will say again. I'm a fan Bill!
What about Charles Huff from Marshall Tim Albion from Ohio Rhett Lashlie from SMU Jeff Traylor From UTSA
Good names as well that were considered but missed out on the cut when narrowing the list down to 25!

He's recruiter for sure wish him rich could get along
Barry Odum --UNLV coach
Or his OC, Brennan Marion.
Saben HC/DC, fisher OC make the money happen and bring a Natty to Morgantown for once please please
Only in our dreams unfortunately Richard!
@@CountryRoadsWebcast dreams all we got as WVU fans, but we got next year
Jimbo Fisher, Barry Odom or ryan silverfield
Chadwell would be good
I think so too!
Sorry I forgot Jimbo won at FSU but he left for Texas A&M just for the cash. Not a man I would put the program under.

Rich Rod is definitely the best bet for a turn around of our record.
He could have us winning fast I believe also!
Horrible list of coaches. I’d take don nehlen back before most of these names. Why not Garin Justice?

Here's the question w.v fans!!!! How much do you have to pay per year ????? Then I'll tell you
I also like Rich Rod.........
Today is Christmas jorden no more Neal and if we get Jim bo maybe what about Ryan day he might get fired
I hope CJ and jahmie white stays
Christmas came early James! Thanks and so do I! But I'm not a big Ryan Day fan personally.
@ oh okay
You should go live tonight
Rich Rod for sure, then if that doesn’t work out go for Jim Bo Fisher
No matter now you feel about Rich Rod, he is definitely the best current coach at Jacksonville State, look at his record, he has been there 2 years and he has them playing for a conference playoff, he is a great recruiter, look at his current lineup, these guys know how to play. You'll get no argument from me on that one!
You talked about the UNLV and former UF coach. Get someone young and up and coming. He may leave after success, but you deserve it.
Get rich rod back
NO
I’m game
🤦🏼♂️
No
No to dickrod
Why not Jon Gruden?
That'd be a splash hire for sure but I just don't know if the fit is really there or if it would work out in today's college football!
There's Only One Coach to Replace Neal Brown and That's JIMBO FISHER. They better NOT Blow it this Time.
No difference except JIMBO from WV.
Absoluteky not

Chadwell should be the next HC IMO.
He's definitely one of my favorite candidates from that category of coaches!
All your coaches after Chadwell do not have a chance but the Memphis coach has turned that program around.
Get rich rod back
God no
No
Yes please. Just have him have to lock into a contract where he can’t leave for a certain period of time without oweing the school money
