It''s an amazing game. I've just started watching your games of Keres and am struck by how imaginative he is. These are great. Thank you so much Mato!!
Hi Mato. Thank for all these amaizing videos. What if black plays Ng4 at 6:51, forking white queen and rook. Keres would be lost ? The only way I see the follow up is 1.Nxe7+ Rxe7 and to save the queen, white would lose the rook in e3.
I don't get it as I am at beginners level. Could somebody explain me whats wrong with NOT taking the knight and go for example bishop to D6 perventing rook to g3 and also leaving the knight hanging ?
SepaXP Hi! If you're still looking for the answer, here it is. After ... Bg3. Rxe8+ If black takes with ...Qxe8 then white obviously takes with Rxe8+. If black would respond with ...Nxe8 then white of course wins the queen with Bxd8. Both situation are favourable for white. White doesn't even lose the Knight after all this because Ne5.
+Jos Aalberts I think that then white goes Rook to D1. Then the queen either has to go far away... or it will be exchanged. And then the bishop will get taken anyway.
Digitalatom6 not necessarily. That endgame would definitely be a win and white would be able to hold it easily. Keeping the pieces on the board at least makes it harder for your opponent to find the win.
hi mato....I like your videos very much....Can you please suggest me a good chess book to study....I am just a beginner(rating about 1500-1600)....I want to understand why such specific moves are made in a particular opening and what will happen if the opponent does not make certain moves in response.....I just don't want to mug these moves....Its hard to remember....So could you please tell me a book where I can learn all these things..... waiting for your reply....thanks...
Hey Mato i was on Amazon today and i thought ill buy your book. however it was 45. bucks! thats double Tal's and Bobby's book. im a huge fan of your vids but feel thats too much for a book. if 45.00 was the price for audio and paperback i would under stand. can i get the book at a more reasonable price.
Black is not under any immediate threat. Looks like the pawn doesn't have to take knight? What would happen if black continues with something like knight from F6 to G4?
I am surprised no one answered this one. Black is lost. If knight goes to g4, then white knight takes bishop on e7 with check. White will win either piece or exchange, but endgame is easily winning for them in both cases
At 2:05, Keres missed the check mate. If White Bishop from d3 to h7 check, then black king has no choice but to go to h8, followed by white knight e5 to f7. Check mate AND forks the black queen.
Mato, as a fellow subscriber I ask you to stop making more videos about Keres and move on to another player! Please! I'd love to see some games from other players. No hating anyway. I''ve been in love with this channel for long ago but It's starting to be boring for me to watch the same player over and over!
+Ruben Aragoneses Did you watch the video? This game has virtually every element of the human condition : plans, tactics, surprises and disappointment, innovation and deviousness and even sacrifice. It rivals a Shakespearean play. Interesting yes, boring no.
I didn't say that this game in particular is bad or that I don't like the Keres' videos. It was just an opinion because I like to see more diversity in the games. Every player has each own style and I like to see different styles. We've been seeing the same for a long time now.
Ruben Aragoneses Sure there are some differences in style between players. But most players on this level are able to switch it up and play many different styles and many different openings. And I suspect most casual chess players would not even be able to tell which GM played which games. At the end of the day its the quality of the actual games that matter. Besides, I think its a lot of bitching about nothing. If you look at Matos back catalogue of videos, there are many hundreds of them that do not feature Keres. Even if you have watched every single one of them, many of them are worth a rerun. So there is plenty of diversity, he has just chosen to do a long series on Keres, as he is less famous compared to other GMs, but has played many excellent games in his career. I dont think there is any merit to your complaining, as you are not even paying for the content, its all free. Go watch some other channel if you are tired of Keres games, or watch Matos older videos.
I think that you were a bit agressive in your words since I didn't say anything offensive whatsoever. I was just telling my opinion about one thing about the channel. I think I have the right to speak and tell my opinion in a thing that I don't fully like. I wasn't throwing hate on anybody nor bitching either. I've watched some videos more than twice and yes, I've also watched almost every single video in this channel. I don't want to go to another channel just because u disagree with my opinion. Next time think it twice before jumping out to somebody's neck like you did with me.
Keres is a super genius just like Tal.
Mato, i am addicted to your lectures, thanks.
Hey mato, thanks for making these great videos. I paused and guessed both killer moves correctly. This was a very nice game.
amazing game! thanks to you Mato i began to appreciate keres! I have his 2 euro commemoration coin!
It''s an amazing game. I've just started watching your games of Keres and am struck by how imaginative he is. These are great. Thank you so much Mato!!
I find watching chess more entertaining than watching any other sports lol
+Justin H LennyFace
+Justin H Women's beach volleyball :-P
A brilliant game by Paul Keres..
What a player. I enjoy watching his games so much.
I have seen many lectures about many Grandmasters, but Keres is one of my favorites. Very stronk!
and again a wonderful Video ... thank u ... keep it up Mr.Jelic
Shock and awe...astounding...simply astonishing.
Thank you Mato! Excellent!!!
Just found Keres. I love his style like a more subtle Tal.
Thanks again for these great videos. I do not mean good, or pleasant or decent, I mean great. Well done and please continue.
Qxh6!! is not the first move that i'll choose but i'm not Keres. Thanks a bunch for all your great videos.
Great as always,thank you mato
Second time I watch this game. I didn't find the k-move this time either, but what a game !!!!!!
Konacno neki Velemajstor iz Bosne, svaka cast Mato.
this is very fabulous
thank you
Yayyyy!! guessed both moves , second one with follow up as well :)
Hi Mato. Thank for all these amaizing videos. What if black plays Ng4 at 6:51, forking white queen and rook. Keres would be lost ? The only way I see the follow up is 1.Nxe7+ Rxe7 and to save the queen, white would lose the rook in e3.
Keres was truly amazing. World-class player for 40 years, and that's an incredible accomplishment.
thank you for amazing chess video
Muy interesantes las partidas que escoges
WOW what a game!
this one's a beauty!
At the very end, I think Kh8 variation would have been more interesting and tricky to watch
Wow Queen takes pawn on h6, brilliant move!
2:09 Nxf7 very good move
wonderful
I don't get it as I am at beginners level. Could somebody explain me whats wrong with NOT taking the knight and go for example bishop to D6 perventing rook to g3 and also leaving the knight hanging ?

Mato, please tell us what Kurajica means,it sounds like something in Bulgarian,I am sure it sounds like something in Croatian too :)))
3:58, i dont get it Mato. He can just retreat to Qd8, defending the bisshop? Or am I mistaking?
+Jos Aalberts Good Question.
Suggestion anyone?
+Jos Aalberts I think that then white goes Rook to D1. Then the queen either has to go far away... or it will be exchanged. And then the bishop will get taken anyway.
+John Chandler but you can defend with Nd5 so that wouldt be the problem
+Jos Aalberts If Qd8 then Rxe7 Rxe7 Rxe7 Qxe7 and Qxc8.
+Contra Best thank you!
I think black needed to actually use his queen somewhere
i believe that neight take f7 is better move than posh bone f4 for white please answer me!!!
Do you mean Nxf7 at 1:55? Yes, I was wondering about that move myself. Grandmaster Paul Keres rejected this move, though.
+Herman47 Nxf7 is a good move. I just think that he didn't see it
OK THANKS
that black knight on f8 killed the nf7 move , theres also the Bh7+ then Nf7+ forking both kuween and king tactic if there was no black knight on f8
Given how each ends up, with taking the queen black has somewhat of a fighting chance as oppose to not taking.
Digitalatom6 not necessarily. That endgame would definitely be a win and white would be able to hold it easily. Keeping the pieces on the board at least makes it harder for your opponent to find the win.
Hey, Mato, you look cooler with the dark glasses...

+MatoJelic Is there a way to buy this as an e-book?
hold up . 5:30 , why did the bishop need to take the knight , why couldnt rook take it?
👍
Is at move 16 Nf7 good tactic?
is there a game where keres fought a super computer?
Hey Mato i was on Amazon today and i thought ill buy your book. however it was 45. bucks! thats double Tal's and Bobby's book. im a huge fan of your vids but feel thats too much for a book. if 45.00 was the price for audio and paperback i would under stand. can i get the book at a more reasonable price.
+Pierre Keller Book is $30. Shipping is $15
You can buy it here: www.chessschool.com.au/chess_shop_4.html.
I really would appreciate , if the best chess youtuber would respond back ... Since I started watching your Videos , I got better 👍...Thank You Mato
No one like Keres - serene unflustered mastery.
Keres beats these grandmasters like Magnus Carlsen (age25) beats me on his chess app. Could Paul Keres beat Magnus Carlsen on that app?
It is Carlsen
i dont understand the "trap" when black q takes pawn on d4. after knight attacks q, why cant queen go to d8 and protect the bishop on e7?
+Lorenzo Stroe Well not trapping the queen but the queen would have to go away eventually
+Lorenzo Stroe no--knight to d5 blocks it.
+Lorenzo Stroe yea- but black doesnt lose the bishop like mato says is the trap
+ranchump You take with your knight on f7 attacking the queen which again has to move away
+ranchump Contra Best has the answer in a comment above. Qd8 Rxe7 Rxe7 Rxe7 Qxe7 and then Qxc8.
Hi Mato.

I am surprised no one answered this one. Black is lost. If knight goes to g4, then white knight takes bishop on e7 with check. White will win either piece or exchange, but endgame is easily winning for them in both cases
kh8 prolongs tha game
Mato why you don't have games from great persian Grand Master GM Ehsan..
I didn't find the first move, doubt many will, great play by Keres.
I did :)
PeeJayTV congrats
I thought "it's probably something like Qxh6", but I did *not* see the following moves.
At 2:00 minute mark, if white knight had taken pawn on F7 it would have been interesting. Kink takes at his peril.
At 2:05, Keres missed the check mate.
If White Bishop from d3 to h7 check, then black king has no choice but to go to h8, followed by white knight e5 to f7. Check mate AND forks the black queen.
+Greg Torosyan If bishop to h7 knight at f8 kills bishop lol keres was not dumb .
oops haha! did not see
wow what is this? suren? slow down Mato.
Hats off to Kurajica anyway!
After kg8 Keres could have played QH8 Kxh8 Nxf7 kg8 and Nxd8
hm. this was strange situation between pawn and the queen.
svaki put kad kazes kurajica nasmijem se haha ☺
I FOUND THE QUEEN SACRIFICE!
Keres punched the king on the right corner
hi tis is mato
I GOT THE MOVE :D
Keres, what an unbelievable amazing player who has never become the World champion.
I saw the killer move, because I saw the fork
at 400 if Q go to d8 the trap well not work
sorry i mean better than posh bone e4
After knight takes on g6 , black can try knight to g4 ...
The weak King Bishop Pawn decides the game once again!
+Francis Porretto Yes. Its interesting how he pounced on the positional mistake Nf8 meaning the f7 pawn only has the King as a Natural defender.
Keyes was just too strong. Hahah
Second
knight take pawn on f7 at 2.05 sec!
this game was trap influenced
KERES RULZ
