So being new to this rotary thing, while setting your , I guess z axis zero to center of cylinder, where should the e bit be zeroed? On top of the flat stock or in center or middle of work piece at end of tail stock?
Hello Kelley... it all depends on your machine. When I do rotary I set my x, and y using a vbit in the chuck... and z off the surface. It is a real pain to use the center if I need to do a tool change. Keep in mind our machine is older in the labs and newer ones would have a process for this. Your machine manufacturer would be able to help.
Oh god. You sold me $400 software by saying it could do rotary work, but now I need to upgrade to the $700 software to turn commercially available lumber into a cylinder that will work for rotary tool paths.
Hello and thank you for the comment. I'm assuming you purchased VCarve Desktop and do not have acess to the gadgets. You don't need the gadget to round off your material, it just makes it a bit easier. You can always set up a toolpath to do that. If you need more information pn the process, please contact Support@Vectric.com and they can hlep you out.
so, with this tutorial for 12 inches long and 3 inch wide, we need 5+ hour to make the square to round, how is this making money, i bought aspire and i am stuck on rounding toolpath, your code doesnt make sense
