Guys 😳 I just noticed something. I’m probably the only one who didn’t already know this and do this but I started to watch their lips and mouths as they were speaking and it makes it easier for the brain to “hear” the words crystal-clear. What we see affects what we hear. (Look it up).
I was able to listen the first time with no subtitles and know very roughly what they were talking about, minus details. That’s huge progress for me. Listened again with Russian subtitles and got even more out of it

Я из Кашуб и у нас тоже кашубский язык. Не очень давно начали учить в школах. У нас тоже названия градов и деревни двуязычными. Дети льюбют учится своего языка - эта для них как забава. Культурнее разнообразие это богатство нет проблема! Мне надежду што Россия изменит отношение ку этническим меньшинством. Оне очен очен интересные! А - контент супер! Давай больше о регионах! Может быть, потому, что Удмуртии язык это индоевропейский язык ? Может быть... Я прожил много лет в Ницце и могу сказать что набережная (la promenade des anglais) очень прекрасная, к сожалению я никогда не был в Ижевске.
Russian like other slavic languages pretty much require you to grasp a big chunk of grammar before being able to understand it well (or write/speak), and unless you are speaker of other slavic language you won't be able to progress quickly without doing any grammar exercises, so I recommend doing that first. I think the best way to start learning Russian (or any other slavic language) is to just use various online resources to learn grammar/basic vocabulary, like various courses on RUclips or mobile apps (But do not overuse them! While having big daily streaks on Duolingo can be fun, it alone won't help you learn any language), etc. Then I'd recommend to do various reading/writing/speaking/listening exercises, having language exchange partner or good teacher (like Yaroslava :)) is probably something of the best value.

Please, don't compare the situation of Udmurt language and people with Catalan and Catalonians. It is shameful what you say, because Catalonian culture and people are the most privileged in Spain, and Catalan people are some of the richest and most bourgeois people in Europe... so it is terribly cynical that you compare Catalans and Catalonia with Udmurt and what happens with "indigenous" natives. Never in the whole history of Catalonia people have been so free to speak Catalan like now, and never in Catalonia's history have been so many people who speak Catalan in Catalonia... so your comment is a good example of the victimistic, twisted and opportunistic attitude of politics in Catalonia. Catalonia has been always bilingual (except with Franco)... and what happens now it is not that Catalan language is disappearing (radically the opposite) but that you guys are trying to remove Spanish language from Catalonia with a very fascist attitude (you make very expensive penalties to stores that have their posters, labels and menus in Spanish, you forbid Spanish in schools, you have many issues with immigrants from latin American countries because you don't want Spanish speakers in Catalonia, so you give priority to immigrants from Morocco, etc etc). During the dictationship of Franco Catalan was forbidden, but that was long long ago. Plus in those times people from the whole Spain went to live in Catalonia because while in post-war Spain people were literally starving, in Catalonia there was a lot of work, industry and rich people. So it is shameful that in those times Catalan was forbidden, but it is shameful that Catalans are so vistimistic about that while in the rest of Spain people were starving and suffering a lot of oppresion (too). However, though Maksim is the best teacher I' ve ever met ( except for those in my English course in UK 😉), for MY taste there is TOO much of Argentina! Because we are learning Russian, aren't we? I watch his OLD videos but pls be aware that a part of the studies of a language are different sorts of information about its home country 🤷. So I' d love to hear more about the Russian culture: writers, painters etc... Imagine you are learnig, e.g., Italian but you hear and watch how people live in the North of Russia or in Tokyo! The problem remains, however, that Max is in Argentina and all the videos of him in Russia are already out of date. I'm interested in seeing how someone from such a diverse and in some ways, exotic background settles into the dull predictability of life in South America. I worked in Iran for a long time and then I moved to Brazil where I have lived on and off for 20 years. Like Max craves the food and the whole flavour of life in Russia, for many years I felt the same way about Iran, so perhaps for personal, and some may say selfish reasons, I find his whole process of settlement in Argentina interesting, though I can quite understand why you and others may not. You two are super nice, and it is actually very interesting all things said in this video (and thank you for speaking with so clear pronunciation). The only thing is that it is strange that she jumps blaming capitalism for this phenomena of people having to leave their cities and go to Moscow. I am definitely not a supporter of capitalism, but in the biggest capitalist countries that phenomena doesn't exist, for people have opportunities in their own regions and cities. So, that phenomena in Russia is not to blame on capitalism. I would say it has more to do with the imperialist attitude that Moscow inherited from Imperial and Soviet times. I mean, this thing of Moscow taking all the resources and benefits from all "regions" of Russia, while keeping such "regions" with very low benefits. That is done by Moscow not just because of getting all the money, but because of maintaining all the rest of "regions" with a low economic situation, so they cannot revolt against the centralist government. That was typical of Imperial Russia (like all Empires), but very especially of Soviet Russia in the times of industrialisation (this thing of building cities that are devoted to some specific industry: those cities looked very alive and good, but it was Moscow who took most of the outcome of it all, plus so so much of that production was not even needed, therefore the collapse)... so basically current Russia-Moscow is doing the same (because Russia is still an Empire and not a "country"). Instead, capitalism needs all regions of a country to be very productive (for good or for bad), having their own problems and bad things but definitely not this phenomena that happens in Russia. Besides that, we met a "indigenous" couple from Udmurtia in China, and their version is very very different than the one of Yaroslava. The fact that not even Yaroslava, being from there, is aware of the actual situation of "indigenous" people from Udmurtia, says a lot, and that shows how well the Russification has worked, and how well these issues are covered and masked. I love Russia and Russia culture, even more than the US or Europe, but for me it is imposible to overlook this type of things. In any case, all countries have their own issues and their own not-so-nice things.
You are completely WRONG! In general, in ALL the countries the capital city has more to offer as for work, culture etc. But it was ecactly during the SOCIALIST period when the state spent a lot to build flats, culture and sport centres , factories etc. I know this situation very well as I grew up in ex Czechoslovakia which has the same problem: during the SOCIALIST period even in very small towns there was everything for people: the same prices for flats and food (!!!) as in Prague, theatres, WORK... While now, in this ugly capitalist system small places are dying, the ex modern cultural and shopping centers have become squats 😢😢😢 and all young people are moving to Prague because of jobs and more possibilities of cultural life... Very sad. This is the reality and the capitalism is very bad!

( By the way, there is a nice Russian channel "Made in Russland " made by a Russian jazz singer , which shows different and very interesting places in RF: old monasteries, life of different etniqes in RF etc. Unfortunately in English 🥴🤷). The problem remains, however, that Max is in Argentina and all the videos of him in Russia are already out of date. I'm interested in seeing how someone from such a diverse and in some ways, exotic background settles into the dull predictability of life in South America. I worked in Iran for a long time and then I moved to Brazil where I have lived on and off for 20 years. Like Max craves the food and the whole flavour of life in Russia, for many years I felt the same way about Iran, so perhaps for personal, and some may say selfish reasons, I find his whole process of settlement in Argentina interesting, though I can quite understand why you and others may not. Moreover, sounds you've been following Max for a long time but I' ve found him recently looking for a good channel! And he really is great! 🙂👍💖 - I cannot see how videos about how people are living in Piter or Krasnodarsk 👍or vocabulary about friendsip etc. Can be " out of date"?!? 😯😯😯 Moreover, I imagine there are a lot of new coming students; I myself reccomend Maksim to some other people who wish to learn/ brush Russian. I must say that we Europeans are rarely interested in South America. If I learn Russian, I want to see Russian places, hear about Russian habits etc. I watch Argentina ONLY because it is in Russian. I don't like America , i.e. the colonizers. You two are super nice, and it is actually very interesting all things said in this video (and thank you for speaking with so clear pronunciation). The only thing is that it is strange that she jumps blaming capitalism for this phenomena of people having to leave their cities and go to Moscow. I am definitely not a supporter of capitalism, but in the biggest capitalist countries that phenomena doesn't exist, for people have opportunities in their own regions and cities. So, that phenomena in Russia is not to blame on capitalism. I would say it has more to do with the imperialist attitude that Moscow inherited from Imperial and Soviet times. I mean, this thing of Moscow taking all the resources and benefits from all "regions" of Russia, while keeping such "regions" with very low benefits. That is done by Moscow not just because of getting all the money, but because of maintaining all the rest of "regions" with a low economic situation, so they cannot revolt against the centralist government. That was typical of Imperial Russia (like all Empires), but very especially of Soviet Russia in the times of industrialisation (this thing of building cities that are devoted to some specific industry: those cities looked very alive and good, but it was Moscow who took most of the outcome of it all, plus so so much of that production was not even needed, therefore the collapse)... so basically current Russia-Moscow is doing the same (because Russia is still an Empire and not a "country"). Instead, capitalism needs all regions of a country to be very productive (for good or for bad), having their own problems and bad things but definitely not this phenomena that happens in Russia. Besides that, we met a "indigenous" couple from Udmurtia in China, and their version is very very different than the one of Yaroslava. The fact that not even Yaroslava, being from there, is aware of the actual situation of "indigenous" people from Udmurtia, says a lot, and that shows how well the Russification has worked, and how well these issues are covered and masked. I love Russia and Russia culture, even more than the US or Europe, but for me it is imposible to overlook this type of things. In any case, all countries have their own issues and their own not-so-nice things.
You are completely WRONG! In general, in ALL the countries the capital city has more to offer as for work, culture etc. But it was ecactly during the SOCIALIST period when the state spent a lot to build flats, culture and sport centres , factories etc. I know this situation very well as I grew up in ex Czechoslovakia which has the same problem: during the SOCIALIST period even in very small towns there was everything for people: the same prices for flats and food (!!!) as in Prague, theatres, WORK... While now, in this ugly capitalist system small places are dying, the ex modern cultural and shopping centers have become squats 😢😢😢 and all young people are moving to Prague because of jobs and more possibilities of cultural life... Very sad. This is the reality and the capitalism is very bad!
