  • Here's another oddity in American's usual Arlington fleet of McNeiluses on CNG LEUs (the truck on trash was also an oddity, being a newer McNeilus/Peterbilt combo with a 3 man crew). Not sure why these guys have this truck when all the DP5000s/LEUs with folding doors are on commercial toters. This wasn't an easy route to film, with busy streets and plenty of obstructions, so I did my best. Thanks to the awesome crew!

what a fantastic video. the beginning had me hooked, the finale was perfect with that shot of them driving off, idk how well that matches up with the order you actually filmed each clip in but I'm impressed with the result. everything about these guys is professional and shows experience. I don't often see crews that work exactly how I like to but these guys did everything from emptying cans to moving at a pace I'm comfortable with to even running the packer how I tend to run heil packers. it's really kinda cool. also unique to see and hear a truck that just blasts sound all day instead of revving only for pack cycles. maybe not my preference but still unique. terrific work

Fantastic video!! These guys were flying! I thought all of their trucks had the decals replaced with their new style ones? It’s also pretty cool to see one of their Heils still out there putting in the work, had a pretty decent roar to it too, with the engine fan running the entire time. Great job!!

Thanks! American still has a good bit of trucks in the old paint, including all of the CNG McNeilus LEUs that dominate in Arlington (they have a special decal job but with the old logo and colors). Hopefully these Heils can hang on for a bit, it seems that the newer LEUs are still used frequently while the LEs are mostly spares.

Those are the new ones. I think they’re switching over to 3 man crews as well with those trucks. If you’re ever back in the area, let me know and I’ll see if I can get you any info on where some of the more interesting trucks are running.

Awesome I like this truck excellent video dude. I like the 35 gallon recycling carts.

Nice job filming! Wow those guys work hard.
I gotta laugh as I'm sure one reason they went to 35/65 gal carts vs. tubs was the typical, 'reduce worker fatigue as they can be dumped on a mechanical lift'. When I look at situations like this I just wonder if it's really that much of an improvement using 35 gallon carts, which are made of more plastic than an 18 gallon tub, harder to store in tight spaces, but hold less when it comes to cardboard and bulky stuff and can sometimes lead to more contamination. Of course there's benefits with a cart being on wheels and having a lid to keep stuff dry and contained, plus they can use the tipper if it's packed with magazines or other heavy stuff. IDK I guess I'm still a little on the fence when it comes to the carts vs. tubs thing.

Thanks! We went to carts in 2008/9. Pre-2007 we had yellow tubs and dual stream recycling (paper/containers). We then went single-stream and the carts followed a year or so later.

Wow those guys were flying! This one has a nice roar to it too with the engine fan on the whole time! Was the throttle advance on all the time? It seemed like after each packer cycle the engine stayed revved up, it didn't come back down to idle, like ours. Are the new Peterbilts CNG or diesel? I hope you got footage of one of those new Petes! Do they still run any of the Mack LE Formula 5000's? Or are they all gone? Would be awesome if you could also film one of the old LEs before they are all gone!

Also, do you happen to know if American is buying any Autocars, or all new diesel Peterbilt 338/McNeiluses? Also, would love it if you could film over in Reston - I have a family friend who lives over there and would love to see what trucks do their route now! When I was there back in 2016, there was a newer Mack LEU DP5000 on trash I think, with an older Mack LE Formula 5000 on the recycling. I wonder what trucks do that area now? Their route is done Tuesday/Friday I believe. Please let me know if you can film there ASAP, would be awesome to see some footage from there!

@@GarbageSean Reston is done by either a couple CNG ACX Automizers or 520 ZRs. I have a video of a Republic Granite doing trash in Reston, the recycling truck is a LE 5000. Trash day is now Thursday only for American. I am going to try to film there later this summer to find 451 which is a ACX Labrie and a Republic Multipack

@@gabriellangton6677 ah, gotcha. I assume a LE 5000 does yard waste in Reston? Or is it just trash and recycling done by the same truck?
