for the long air line to the tank I open a window run the line inside up the front and come out the driver's window and to my truck. the tape can come off in transport
you guys have it eazy, I was a heavy duty tow driver in 70s before underlifts got popular and were affordable, we used plates and chains, for what your doing and "bus bars" for MCI,s Greyhound buses, and before Tiger tools for the big U joints, I miss the job though. Holmes 750s and 850s. and"brake buddies", yeah !! 😆 great video, thanks
I don’t know much about American buses, but here in England on modern buses there is no superstructure at the front, so you’d have to use the front axle, or use wheel fork attachments.
That international did not have an air dryer. It had a moisture ejector (that was that gizmo on the air tank). It was only in the 1997 Amtran RE busses from International. They were junk. All of our 1997 Amtran RE’s with the moisture ejector were replaced with Air Dryers cause of all that water that was in the tank, those things were not good, Air Dryers were much better.
As he said in the start of the video normally they put them on low loaders but these particular ones have the front structure. they're rare over here in aus too. have had to wheel lift a few coaches as they dont have an axle and they are too long to go on a low loader. fun stuff.
My first car was a surplus Navy Jeep. Pulled out lots of snowed in cars in Ithaca, which helped in college. Love your videos. One point --- busses with all those esses means kisses! What you want for bus plural is buses. Stay safe and well! Thank you! LM
Hi. Love you vids....especially your IV adventures since I am from Calipat.(but retired to Florida). Question, why not have some magnets with eye-hooks or Carabiner Clips to hold your air hoses?
Question: Why pull drive shafts? Ive seen it enough in my time in the military, but never understood it. Why is it a thing, versus leaving the trans in Neutral? Thanks in advance.
Even by leaving the transmission in Neutral, the driveshaft will still spin as the tires rotate, thus turning the engine over. Its safer, and smarter to just disconnect the driveshaft from the axle to avoid the wear on the engine.
@@bonelesswhiskey2865 It doesn't turn the engine over, but the center shaft off the transmission turns getting no oil because the engine is not running, you'll will fry the bearings in the transmission, this applies to the big automatics also
Love your videos! Just wondering why you and everyone else uses safety chains...except for Johnny’s Towing? Does it vary from State to State? Please keep safe! 🚧
After they take it out of your check a few times, you'll remember, u have to make a check list follow from top to bottom every time, and you won't forget to do nothing.
Because the input shaft runs the cluster gear in the bottom of the trans, that throws oil all over the gears and bearings, the output shaft does not spin the bottom cluster gear in neutral, thus a long tow could ruin the trans. I was told to "always" remove the drive shaft or axels even on a short tow.
For a longer answer, because the transmission is spinning, and spinning means that the oil is heating up. The transmission cooling system is off so you cook your transmission on any long trip. Neutral just disconnects the engine from the transmission. So, drive wheels always disconnected or off the ground.
I would of ran the hose through a window back the back door up to the front, then through the grill, then hook to the glad hand. That take is kinda sketchie. Hope it works (-:
Removing the prop is a lot less messier than what tow companies here do for buses, half shafts are popped, mind you buses here are largely low floor, with very little ground clearance
HA HA HA! Had to play with Okie trash. IC buses are built in Tulsa, OK. Ah! Crud they got rid of my Eye bolts! You going to need a new air line. Sorry!

Plaza Towing I just use bungees to keep it away from the chrome. I definitely understand why you do it, just seems like extra work to do on every tow. Nice work though, I enjoy the videos.

I'm a try that , thanks.

check out recent season of Highway Thru Hell, Holmes 850 restored and used daily

I guess they didn’t bother to drain the air tank... or the air dryer is goosed

Trent that driveshaft safety loop is mandatory on that style of school buses
nice feature, lot more safe, should be standard on all semi'
I recommend putting a bungee cord on the stop sign. Had them fly out before.
You won’t have that issue since the bus is being towed forward. The stop signs aren’t tied down when the bus is normally driving
But on bumps, if there is no key in the ignition, the stop sign can fly out and the motor won’t turn on to put it back in place.

youtube brought me here and im glad it did. already love the vidoes

That's how we trained to do it too.
Gotta love that new style air fitting. I use them on all my air tools.
Hey Trent, you was in my old stomping ground, born in Holtville bout ten minutes away from there, love the videos!
I was starting to worry about you. Great to see you are OK.

Imagine having a second job where you film yourself doing your actual job. lol

I love your videos Brent, very well done. I hope all is well with you.
Looks like we got ourselves a Convoy! 🙂👍
It seems as though we travel in the same video circuit.. LOL
Lol
I always just fork the frame with frame forks. We tow buses all the time. If it's a front engine I tow them from the rear
Nice to have you back😎
Glad you are back, wondered where you went, glad you said couldn't record a certain customer, good job as usual, pull toy here.
I used to go to that school jajaja love your videos man Been watching you for a couple of day's. You caught me off-guard with the school one.
Thanks Trent, and Daral nice to see your doing Videos agian 👍
Yay hes still alive got worried about u trent
What happened to the third bus? Did you guys end up Towing it? Great video bro.
If i was a tow truck driver I'd be the guy who forgets to close the doors on the tow truck
After they take it out of your check a few times, you'll remember, u have to make a check list follow from top to bottom every time, and you won't forget to do nothing.
What brand tow trucks do you buy?
I saw one of these things irl and didn’t know Wht it was but when I started watching u I then knew it towed heavy trucks
Guess that makes more sense than towing them with two Prius’s
Was it a torx head? Good job Trent. Nice to see a video from you.
Awesome video Trent !!!
Thanks for video Happy Thanksgiving
What kind of camera do you use in your truck?
Did you guys go back for the other bus?
Serious question, why is there a need to disconnect the driveshaft if the transmission is in neutral?

Why not tow them from the rear or use a landoll?
could you have just closed the front door from inside then went out emergency exit?
Yes
Good job of moving the buss with too tow trucks
That's a lot of work to hook up a school bus to a big tow truck
I would of ran the hose through a window back the back door up to the front, then through the grill, then hook to the glad hand. That take is kinda sketchie. Hope it works (-:
Nice Wreckers! 389?
Im new to the channel and subbed but i have a question what is your favorite truck to drive
Are all your tools supplied?
Removing the prop is a lot less messier than what tow companies here do for buses, half shafts are popped, mind you buses here are largely low floor, with very little ground clearance
why when you tow a vehicle you remove the driveshaft???
Hello Brent.
Gary Price sasmethingh. nocomment. com
Does using a binder not only hold the chain tight but help the vehicle from shifting side to side?
didn't know that you can take the binder apart
HA HA HA! Had to play with Okie trash. IC buses are built in Tulsa, OK. Ah! Crud they got rid of my Eye bolts! You going to need a new air line. Sorry!
Why do you always pull the drive shaft?
Steven Ng free the wheels
So its not spinning up the gearbox especially in autos you will destroy a box due to no cooling and such I belive.
Pull the drive shaft to keep from damaging the transmission.
To avoid burning the rear bearings in the transmission out.

'Really?' -Trent Butzlaff, 2018
Why do you have to pull drive shaft.
i figured you were in school
You should get white tape so it doesn't burn ya
Where can I buy that tow truck and how much does it cost?
I hope they caught the little basters who did the damage to the bus.Man the drive shsft is small
By the that sludge came out of the air tank it's been a while since it's ran at all.

Why don’t you keep your safety chains in the pockets, instead of dragging them out every time?
Scratches the chrome dude! Thank you for watching!

And what will do a bus like this @t
is this a pete
That's not even legal to do
Please explain sir? This is 100% legal
@@plazatowing what I mean is that's double towing, some Cities, Counties, States prohibited that practice I do believe. Over a certain length limit
