Personally I wish people would let us here the actual sounds on these kinds of videos, rather than playing chords and melodies. Chords on bass sounds? Jesus!
I bought my DX7-IIFD way back in 1987 when it was first released along with the Tone Module TG-55. This is essentially the DX7 gubbins without the keyboard! Happily, I still have both, although I've hardly played them for years. The little battery in the DX7 has expired, so the thing won't boot up. I'll have to replace it; I do hope it isn't a big job. I'm glad to see the Old Queen still has some life in her and is being rediscovered by a new generation. It really was an amazing machine for it's time and was played on many of the 80s hits by those long faded Pop-Band combos!
Very nice, but could do with some effects (reverb, delay, even chorus) to bring the sounds to life. I always loved the DX7 sound, but it REALLY shines when put through some effects.
As of April 2024, the closest I’ve gotten to having a DX7 is the FB01 module that was in my current domicile when I arrived here. If I did purchase one, it would probably be a MkII like this one.
@@PanHoover882 little pricey imo if compared with the fact you could pick up an SY/TG77 for the same price range...but all the same, that amazing 80s Yamaha FM sound and synthesis capability is there in the DXs as well
I have an RX5 that has been memory modified x16 times it's original 99 PTN's and 20 Songs. It now has 1,584 PTN's and 320 Songs. It's like having 16 RX5 machines. I can also swap from one memory to another via cartridge. Works fine! I also had a RX7 with the same mod. But I sold that one. But I'm keeping the RX5
I made a song with effects. Please check it out!

Nice work!
The DX7 sounds 15 times better when it's being operated by someone that can actually play keys. You breathe so much life into those sounds :)

The greatest DX7 demo in history
The Yamaha DX7-IIFD internal patch "Full Tines" was heard in some theme in some 1989 episode of The Rockets.

All the original Yamaha sounds for all DX machines are available in Dexed (FYI).
My word those presets sounded amazing! Loved “Analog X”. Wow!

If I find a decent composition to use, then sure. I guess the whole point of the demo was to show off the sounds coming directly from the DX7 ii.
I made a song that should satisfy your query.
🤠✌🏻CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!🤠✌🏻
Cool sounds!
2:27-2:38 VERY similar to the "pluck" sound used in the theme song of Fresh Prince of Bel Air!!
Yes, I just listened to the theme song from “Fresh Prince”, and I can safely say both what I was playing and the preset sounded similar. Who knew?

Are you aware of the SY77?
I am, @@kornnelius60, and it is one synthesizer I have contemplated the possibility of purchasing. Either that or the TG77.
4:58 I think that's the sound used on the beginning of George Michael's song, "Hard Day". Is that supposed to be some sort of flute?
The preset is called “SongFlute”
Please make more DX7 videos.
Don't worry. I got another one coming soon!
Is there a way to get all the patches from the original DX7 on this one? Found a good deal for an II FD but I want the original DX7 patches
Maybe Dexed would work?
Do a sysex dump and load it into the IIFD - the sounds are backwards compatible :)
I want to pass a DX7 I 1986, please reply me if you are interested
good job, great playing!
But I prefer the sound of DX7 1. 😅
Impressive. Does it have the e! ?
It does not.

May I inquire how much you bought it for? They've been going up lately even if their batteries are unchecked.
@@bengsynthmusic $650

I have this synth with the E ! card which takes it to a whole new dimension .
I so regret selling it and my RX5 😢
