- I’ve been creating RUclips videos of my hometown in the snow for more than 10 years now. To be honest, I’ve relatively exhausted this subject matter, especially in my location. It’s hard to film the same location ten years running and still bring a freshness to the content. So today, I gave up filming something fancy and filmed moments instead. More for myself than for a viewing audience.
If you’ve followed me for many years, you’ll recognise moments, locations and understand my happiness at silly things. EG. The magnet shape statue that’s in my thumbnail… it was in several videos 2008-2009.
I was rather melancholy today. I’ll shortly be moving to a brand new area and won’t have regular access to this place. So in a way, I’m starting to say goodbye... The area where the statue is has been a place of refuge for over a decade to me. Also, this may be the last time I see the area when covered in snow. Snow happens less than once a year, the chances of it happening when I’ll visit are minimal. So I tried to enjoy the winter wonderland of home :).
Another reason today was difficult, was due to personal things happening at home. My Grandad is deteriorating daily and life is fairly unpredictable right now. I know my VIDMASes are fairly upbeat, but there is more to life than just the happy moments we share...
It was sad to think that this year has presented my Grandad with his last summer and now, his last snow. The few moments I recorded near the end will stay with me now. x

Even if you were feeling melancholy, this video made me feel peaceful and happy.
As soon as I saw the video title, I thought, "yep, another beautiful video here...", and it was more beautiful than I'd initially imagined. In my part of West Lancashire, we haven't seen more than a VERY light snow shower, so this video is making up for it.
Ohhh, I'm getting so teary watching your videos, Rebecca... Your VIDMAS is just wonderful, it really is.

This was a beautiful video! I loved seeing the snow as it reminds me of my home state Virginia. I am living in southern Texas at the moment and we just got snow for the first time in many years on Thursday and this video reminded me what its like to have a snow day. So don't apologize for different content. I agree the music and footage was relaxing to watch this Sunday afternoon.

Those moments are wonderful to have.
I used to take videos of everyday life. I loved home movies when I was a kid and really appreciate those moments I captured on film of my family and where I used to live. There are big changes coming up in starting in early 2018 and, while I don't know that I'd ever have my own RUclips channel, I think I've been inspired by the vloggers I watch to invest in another video camera and make taking videos (of even the quiet moments) more of a priority!
Moving to a new area is an exciting change, but with any change (even positive ones) there is always an element of loss. Especially with what you are going through with your Grandad, I encourage you to soak up those lovely, quiet moments and not worry about whether your videos are "happy" or not. Be true to your emotions. I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!

U r so lucky,that u live in a country where u can enjoy all the season. I live in UAE,Dubai and i have not seen Snow in my entire life.
it's lovely down by the park and the quay with the london barges. I wish i was there. where I live i have only been able to walk around the woods and to the town and back. it hasn't stopped snowing all day in the Midlands and it's a 4 inches deep now.

We just had our first snow this weekend too! (I live in the Appalachian mountains in the USA) Do your cats like to go out in the snow at all? Our kitten likes water and being outdoors so we tried to take her out with us the first day it snowed and she got angry with us!
We didn't let them out today, kept them safe (though annoyed) indoors. Poor Blossom, she's pure white - so she'd disappear if we let her out... she'd blend in! A decade ago, when we had two cats - Tabby/Ginger - they loved the snow. They'd play around in the back garden!

Supposed to be Chiauaua (cannot spell that) and a Jack Russel... but we think he's chiaiaiaa and a german shepherd! I don't know much about dogs I'm afraid, but hope this makes sense! :D
