Our family has been going to Akumal for 20 years. Our children consider themselves locals. While it is unfortunate that the area is becoming more developed, Akumal is nothing short of magic. see the ruins, see Xel-Ha, the cenotes, and then float in the beautiful sea all day. This video shows it all.
Good Morning, My girlfriends and I are going to Akumal on our 50th Birthday. Reading this really gets me excited and I'll share this video. So glad for the internet... Many of htem have never been to Mexico so this will be doubly the excitement
I love the music you used for this. I've never heard a song with "Akumal" in it. I usually turn off the annoying background music people use for their videos, YOURS, I turned up. Viva Akumal!
Akumal Beach Resort is our FAV holiday spot ... Our past few visits I've thought about making a video that covers everything right outside the door... I have to say there is no need to do that now as your video is EXCELLENT! You have covered everything so well... 3 weeks and counting till I am on that beach once again lol, now I am even more excited. Thanks for such an amazing video, now I can show my family and friends the REAL AKUMAL!
Great video, my wife and I have been there quite a few times, always stay at Hotel Caribe, always go out fishing with Francisco, great guy. have snorkeled all around there, but never knew about the cannons underwater, we will be back in May 2015, now I have something new to do there, look for the cannons. Thanks
I've been there and it is truly beautiful. Not crowed with tourists at all. While I was there the turtles were coming up on the beach to lay their eggs and all the homes and Villas around that bay turned their porch and patio lights out so the turtles would feel welcome. It's not far from Tulum which is a historic interesting place and Cozumel is nearby too. Artist Suzanne
Wish the video would also show the ruins around the area of Akumal, including Tulum and Coba, and the hidden cenote and cavern at Aktun Chen (5 minutes away from Akumal).
Not difficult at all if you know where to look. Walk into the water at the northernmost corner of the beach (bay) in front of the Las Casitas Villas (down by the Lol-Ha restaurant. Depending on the tide, they are in about 6-8 feet of water. Swim straight out until you are straight out in front of the first land-based canon to your left. That first land-based canon points straight out towards the underwater ones. If you watch my video again, you'll know what they look like & what to watch for. There are 6-7 scattered all around that area! Good Luck & have fun! When are you going & have you been there before??? Clark
Yes, they are. They're not called "sting rays" because they caress you. Admire them from afar, don't disturb them, and be careful where you step. They tend to bury themselves in shallow waters in the sand. They're the same color.
I've got news for you, many expats from the U.S. and Canada as well as some Europeans, live (and own businesses) in areas in and around Akumal, Tulum and Playa del Carmen.

Highly recommend the Turtle Bay Cafe. Great food! The owners are American, and the chef is Mexican. We've never been disappointed in over 14 years.
One of my favorite akumal videos! Great job! Thank you! Its extremely helpful!
L'un des meilleurs endroit sur terre 😍

Entertaining, educational .just a pleasure to watch
Can anyone please tell me where can I purchase/download the soft Akumal song played at the beginning of this video?

Great video, you did a great job! :)
What is the opening song? the "Akumal" song?
Love the video! How difficult was it to locate the underwater cannons??

But watch out for the sting rays!
Headed there in February, can't wait! Thanks for the info Clark!!

Y por que razón cobran el acceso ($100.00 o $$5.00 DLLS) si no dan nada a cambio.
This is not the flag of Mexico
The song is boring; highly repetitive, but the place is very beautiful. If it weren't for the absolutely corrupt government, I might go there to live.
