MJ knew his time with The Jacksons was coming to an end, and reluctantly did the album and tour because his mother asked him. Long live the king of pop. 🎉
Facts..even back in the day as a child I felt this was the weakest Jacksons album..it was right after MICHAELMANIA so we thought we would hear a stronger album lead by him but it so wasn't.

There was a lot of behind the scenes drama and fighting between them. It's rarely talked about.
I didn't know about that until now...over 40 years being a JACKSON FAMILY fan. I was quite surprised to hear what I heard.
Unlike the album, the Victory tour was certainly very successful.
1984 was MICHAELMANIA...the brothers were riding on his shine in fact he BLEW OUT THE FAMILY regarding fame during this time. No one really cared about the other brothers just MJ unless you had a crush on Marlon or Jackie(ladies man).Torture was a great single but the video was 🗑️.just accomplishing four great videos of 1983 : BILLIE JEAN, BEAT IT, THRILLER, SAY SAY SAY to this?!!🙄 Nc comparison

That Torture video was torture.😂.. I read Freddie Mercury was tapped to do State of Shock, but Michael hated his excessive drug use, and kicked him to the curb..

State of shock was originally duet with Michael and Freddie m from queen but at the time it was not finish so mj end up re recording it with mick jagger
Lol the Victory Tour wasn't the "worst tour." That tour was 95% sold out, MJ just didn't wanna do it at all, in fact he did it as a favor to his mom cuz she basically pleaded with him to do it. The tour was supposed to go overseas but MJ stopped that right in his tracks. As for the Torture video, Jermaine also didn't wanna do the video as well.

Michael was on top of the 🌎 at that time... anything he touch was 🪙..that tour wouldn't have popped off had it not been mama Kathy talking with him. Only certain people can persuade Michael and that's his mom, probably the only one.
I’m surprised that ‘state of shock’ didn’t get a video. it was the lead single from a new album, and it featured two big names. videos had become the standard at that point (thanks to michael). artists were expected to accompany their songs with them.
michael felt overexposed during this time. he just did the disastrous pepsi advert (which he didn’t even want to do). I even learned through one of your videos that he declined to perform at the grammys earlier that year.
the ‘victory’ project was actually planned around the time of motown 25. there is an audio for the jacksons world fan club, where they discuss the album & tour. the success of ‘thriller’ caused those plans to be postponed. it also provided michael with a way out. he wasn’t quiet about leaving when he announced it onstage at the end of the final show. I personally think he should have left after ‘off the wall’.🤔

Perhaps, but maybe they just wanted that particular style. The initial reaction is, "yeah, why is it a painting and why is Michael the only one glowing?"
But this wasn't the first Jacksons album to feature a painting on the cover. Supposedly, MJ chose artist Michael Whelan because he liked Whelan's previous fantasy illustrations.
I read that MJ specifically requested that his brothers be positioned in front of him. Even if that is true, the "selfless" act is kinda cancelled out by the glowing glove and socks. 😸
