This is undoubtedly one of the most historic roller coasters in history and it represents a part of our growing American history as well. C’mon guys… they’re gonna do their best to repair it no matter what and make sure that it’s safe. They would never do away with a ride of this significance and if they tried, the people would stop them! Closed indefinitely doesn’t mean forever, it means until they can fix the problem and they’re not certain yet how long it will take. The Santa Cruz Giant Dipper just turned 100 and recently had to have its guests saved just like this. The ride returned in days… Hopefully they will find a solution that prevents things like this from happening for as long as possible so that new generations can enjoy this historic and beloved attraction!

Cut the guy some slack. He didn't get the year right but he knew it was the first roller coaster. He knows that roller coaster is the primary reason travelers to go Coney Island. He's proud of the history and is sad knowing the Cyclone isn't working. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that needed to look how long the Cyclone has been there. Nah just like the top spin that ride also needs to be Replaced i miss the top spin ride like crazy but that ride not having an inspection says alot on how they check they rides since it's old model that ride supposed to be inspected everyday especially the workers that operating it

I’ve never been to Coney Island, But looking at the photo of this Cyvlone ride, & it doesn’t even seem like big deal. Maybe the 1930s, but it looks like it’s a 30 second ride. Is the Cyclone ride even a big deal anymore? (in today’s amusement park advancements)

I don't know all the details, but I believe Astroland went broke or lost their lease or something, and also a new developer acquired the land and/or the development rights. Luna Park was given the franchise for part of the amusements and built several new rides. I believe there are other portions of the boardwalk area operated by other companies.

I went to Coney Island on the 23rd and the day I went the roller coaster was out of service the ride train was stuck on the lift hill, and this was apparently the day before this incident happened…
They say that the People on this all wooden coaster heard cracks before it stopped, they also said the riders were Terrified and Screaming saying Get Me Off, Get Me Off!🤡🤡🤡😦😦😦

I found the employees in that entire area RUDE, and dismissive, and very GHETTO. The whole area is fairly dirty, and trashy (too bad, historic coaster Cyclone that’s obviously NOT taken care of, a testament to the types of people there). Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk out in California is clean, brightly painted, FRIENDLY, and their 100+ year old coaster Giant Dipper is way BETTER!!! 👍😎👍😎
Cyclone is over 100 yrs old, it should have monthly up to date inspection the rides in Coney Island have known to not been safe. Coney Island needs to go. All that money ppl pay at Luna, go to six flags better experience, go to Dorney park, Disney. You may have to pay more but the experience is 💯 on point. Coney Island is ghetto and wack its a disgrace
