- It would've been easier to just buy the cabinet, but I took the longer route and bought all the tools. The good thing is that I have quality tools that I can use for many other projects. It was a fun project.
It would have been nice. You have showed us how you did it. Beautiful design.
For MDF edges, use a 50-50 mix of wood glue and water. after it dries, sand it smooth.
beautiful cabinet build! i really enjoyed watching and learning from this video! keep up the great work!
I love how the music isn't louder than his actual voice
Thanks. A new thing I started doing on my newer videos, is compressing my voice recordings and I adjust the music for clarity.
That is legit! Great work.
Thanks
Wow, great job! Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
It's a nice job. I built a stand for my 110 gallon. it's 2x4 and solid oak with frame and panel oak and basswood doors with fish motifs.
They make latches for yacht/RV drawers that use a magnet. no exterior hardware and you can hang the key on the fridge.
Awesome cabinet!
Thanks
Awesome build.
Thanks
Excellent work!
Thanks
Nice work!
Thanks
Thats dope ! Great job
Thanks
I’ll give you $2 pesos for it! 😂 great job!
You are very skilled what green is on the inside of the stand?? Color and the Grey on the outside
I just found a picture of a green Lamborghini online, and went to the store to try to match it. I just picked a gray that looked like it matched an ADA cabinet color.
Joshism's 2 Pesos Thanks the stand came out beautiful.
When you cut the side holes for the hoses, I'm assuming you used a router? Did you freehand it or use some kind of stencil or guide to make sure they were straight & parallel?
I created a router guide that looks similar to a picture frame to achieve that.
@@joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164 nice - would you mind sharing a pic of the guide you created?
@M Jinxed
Man, Joshism’s 2 Pesos was too kind in his reply.
Did you even watch his video?
I would’ve asked you how you missed hearing that router guide explained in his video. It’s at 0:36.
And do you really need a pic of what a picture frame jig looks like?
LoL. Why do I get the feeling you’re not be old enough to work with power tools? 🙈
Sorry man..I couldn’t help myself.
Cheers
@@Val_Halla777 well, despite being in my 40s, I’d never done any carpentry at all and done very very little with power tools beyond a power drill. I did not own a router at that point and had no idea what a router guide even was. Definitely watched the video, more times than I can count, both before and during my project, and learned a ton from this and several other videos and as I went along in my project. I did complete my project, including the slots in the side like in the video thanks to the video and his response to my question, and am beyond happy with the results.
Great video bro.
Thanks
Hi, can you kindly share the Sketchup drawing and cut plans.
GREAT JOB
Thanks
How much it would cost?
Did you need to check if the floor is strong enough because you weren't on the ground floor?
jpss90 I checked, and there are three 6” joists under the floor, so it should be strong enough. I was told to shim my aquarium after. I wanted to shim it before, but it’s too late to shim it now.
Just wow.
Great vid man. I hope you waited for the paint to cure. I didn't and now I smell paint when I go to sleep at night.. lol.
Dan Maisonet I waited 1 month for it to cure
@@joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164 I learned from you the difference between dry to the touch and cured. When you ask pros they'll tell you oil-based paint - dry to the touch in 6-8 hours and ready to recoat in 24 hours! Latex paint - dry to the touch in about 1 hour, and you can safely recoat in 4 hours. That does not mean cured. Cured = about a month or you get fumes in a smaller rooms. I also had the same problem using a foam roller and micro bubbles it sucked! XD
Love the work, super well made. I’m planning a cabinet for the exact same tank, do y have the diameters for tall the wood parts by any chance?
I'm glad to help, but I'm not sure which parts you are referring to. Please be specific, or perhaps do a screen shot with arrows pointing to the part you're referring to. Thanks.
@@joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164 thanks i now have hired someone to build it for me ;)
nice! do you mind share the cabinet Plans and drawings so i can make one as well?
What program did you use to mock up the design with
SketchUp 3D. It’s free
I'm curious how you're determining square on your squares.
It's so bad that I can just eyeball it. The proper way is to mark one line with it, then flip it over, and mark another line.
@@joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164 Thats a real shame about your woodpecker square being that far out of square. I would highly consider emailing their customer support and ask for a replacement. Woodpecker tools aint cheap lol
@@alexpoplin8524 yeah. I just need to stop procrastinating.
how is the mdf holding up with the water splashes?
I used plywood for this reason however in UK there is a product mdf that is water proof by medite
Awesome video! I’m looking to build something similar for a ~300 gallon. Any chance I can pay you to draw one up? Really appreciate the video!
We could make it work.
Nice build👍🏻 How many gallons/ Liters is your aquarium?
Thanks. 114 gallons or 431 liters
Did it hold the weight??? And how strong is it?
Yes, the cabinet is holding the weight. I also checked under the house to see if the floor is strong enough. It has 3 wood beams directly under my cabinet, so it should be good.
What wood did you use side panels and top and back. Do I have use the 2 by 4s for a 60p stand?
I just used MDF for the entire cabinet. If you use plywood, you might not have to use 2x4's. I needed to brace the cabinet with 2x4's because the doors aligned perfectly when the cabinet was laying down on its back, but when the aquarium was on it, the MDF started bending, so the doors were not aligned anymore.
Built an ada 60p cabinet using plywood and a kreg pocket screws. Used no 2x4 just 18mm
I have a sketch up if it helps
Get a track saw as leaves perfect edges
@@James-dv1df I would like to see a sketch !

I have the SketchUp file as well if you want those
@@James-dv1dfdo you still have those sketches?
is mdf better than plywood?
No. It bends a little, but when reinforced, it’s ok. It’s more affordable.
Hello, what is the size of the stand please?
48x32x24 inches
Could you share the 3d project with us?
I could. I would have to add a cut list to it.
@@joshisms2pesosonaquascapin164 did you ever share the plans/would you? I'm hoping to start building a stand just like this for my new 65 gallon red sea tank next week and this is exactly the project I want to do.
beautiful attention to detail but I hate that the cabinet is not flush with the tank. love the green accent and wish I could make something half as good still.
also nice high quality vid!
Yeah, next time I redo everything, I’ll have to shim it first.
